I always have a great experience here at self image, everyone is so friendly and the salon is decorated so cute. Debbie always does my hair and always does an excellent job, I explained how I wanted my ombré and she gave me exactly what I wanted. She is very talented and always listens to your concerns, and most important tells you the truth about your hair and hair styles. I highly recommend Debbie :)

Debbie Cerino is an excellent stylist I was put at ease at her knowledge, I fully trusted her judgment and the results are perfect. .prices were great and the staff and owner were very friendly. .They go to all the hair shows so the are up to date on all styles and products. .I give them my full thumbs UP!

My experience here was so good I had to write a review. The salon is very cute and after reading the other reviews I can agree that it has a great vibe and the stylists are all nice. It is the type of place where everyone is having a great conversation and they all seem to get along well. Now on to the hair, I saw Debby. From the beginning she really listened to what I wanted. She made me feel comfortable and even told me she wasn’t in a hurry. She made suggestions which I really liked because I felt like her suggestions were in response to what I told her I wanted. After getting color and a haircut, there is no doubt I will be going back even though I live an hour away! It’s every bit worth the drive and the great service. I am so happy with my hair!

I’ve had better but I’ve also had worse. Once. My hair color looks bad like she was in a hurry. brows look awesome, cut is nothing amazing. mani/​pedi was clean, yet rushed and very rudimentary. I’m giving 3 stars instead of two because she came in on her day off, on a whim to do my hair. Her hands were so shaky I was worried she a) didn’t know what he was doing or b) was jonesin’ for something. And I felt like I needed therapy after listening to her talk all day. I tipped generously by accident because she didn’t give me change back as I waited after she took my cash. $ 250. I won’t return.

I have been going to Tiara for years now so when she moved to Self Image Salon of. course I followed! She does the best color and I lover her weaves! This. saloyUn is super cute, clean, and in a great location!

I went today to get a hair cut and roots done. The salon is clean and well maintained. Hair Stylest there all seemed pleasant. I had an appointment with Tiara and she was great. Color Cut and blow by in a little over 1 hour 15 min. Love my color and cut — I will definately be going back! Thumbs up on this one!

To say that I have complicated hair history is a drastic understatement.
I’ve been to quite a few salons around town, and I’m FINALLY getting the right haircut thanks to Erin, She is amazing! She did my hair for my wedding– she ROCKS. For my wedding hair, she worked with me to find a style that worked and had tons of great suggestions when I sat in her chair and told her I had no idea what I wanted my hair to look like on my big day.
she’s cut my hair a few times now, and these are the BEST haircuts I’ve ever received. My curls are managed and even when I’m «ready» for a haircut, you cannot tell– Erin simply works magic.
All of the ladies in the shop are a joy to be around. I always find myself wanting to hang out after my appointment to not miss out on any of the fun!

This place is great. After years of dying my hair, I’m transitioning to my natural color, which is pretty gray by now. Although I’d had some highlights put in to disguise the grow out, my hair had reached crisis proportions and you could see the line between natural growth and dyed hair. Kristen did her magic with some low lights and a great cut, and my hair turned out beautiful. I’ve gotten so many complements since then!
Besides being great hair stylists, you’ll never find a nicer group of people anywhere.

I’m new in town, and decided to try Self Image after reading reviews on Unilocal– I called and asked for an appointment with someone who was great with color. The woman who answered the phone made an appointment for me with Debbie. I just came from my first appointment a couple of hours ago and LOVE MY HAIR! I’m so excited!
Debbie is delightful, and fun to talk to, and I could tell right away that she knows her stuff. My color and cut are fabulous – my hair looks better than it has in a long time, thanks to her expertise. She really concentrated on giving me a style that works best for my hair and face.
I’ll definitely be going back, and highly recommend Debbie.

If you are looking for a salon and stylist in Ventura search no more you have to go to Self Image and have Erin do your hair. She has been doing my hair for close to 8 years and she took my hair gradually from jet black to blonde with little damage at all. Then when I got sick of blonde she got my hair to stay dark again without fading. She is fabulous last year she did my hair for my wedding I wanted down wear it down and beach curls but was worried because my hair is straight and it was windy she got the curls I wanted to stay beautifully even through my outside ceremony with the beach moisture and wind fighting against it. I now live in San Diego and wait till I visit home to have my hair done because she is the best and I don’t trust anyone but her with my hair.

I’ve been bouncing from salon to salon in Ventura County ever since I chopped 20 inches off my hair a few years ago. Usually I find places that are good at first but become inconsistent quickly. But I’ve been to Self Image twice now and my mom once and we both have had really great experiences.
Be aware that there is a Kristin, a Christine and a Christina at the shop, I am confident that they are all excellent but if you have a preference it’s important to be aware of the name similarities. My hairstylist at Self Image is Christina. She has dark hair, lots of really cool tattoos, and is very easy going and conversational. She’s particularly adept at cutting short hair and was able to navigate my natural waves and cowlicks with excellent skill. I like my hair short and spiky with a feminine touch, and she nailed it. Both times the cuts she gave me were great and I’ve received many compliments.
I just went in for my second appointment with her a few days ago. I told her casually I was preparing to dress in a classic pin up style for my sister’s wedding, and she gave me pointers on how to do the makeup (she’s also a beautician). I had forgotten to ask her to write down the name of the lipstick she suggested before I left, and sure enough when I got home I had a text message from her (I’d left my cell number at the shop when trying to book an appointment) telling me the name of the color lipstick I needed. I bought the makeup the other day and it looks fabulous! My haircut was about $ 50.00, which is kind of steep for a student budget like mine but very reasonable for the excellent service.
The service at Self Image surpasses typical salons. The women here are friendly, helpful and excellent hairdressers. I highly recommend this salon for consistently good haircuts with a positive, friendly atmosphere!

I love this place. It’s more like visiting friends than getting my hair done. It looks beautiful, everyone is friendly, and they really take the time to do everything right. Christine does my hair and she is fabulous. She will stay late and do whatever it takes. Also, their prices are great. I’ve gotten my hair straightened numerous times, and it’s so inexpensive that it would be worth flying in from the east coast to do it here instead of there. It’s twice as expensive back east, at least. They remember me from one visit to the next, and ask about my life. I would recommend them to anyone, and I plan to always go here: this is my Holy Grail of salons!

Okay. Let me start off by saying: Christine is AMAZING! AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING! I have a bit of a story to tell, so please bear with me… :)
I came to this salon on a recommendation from my dad. I happened have an appointment at a time where Christine was by herself, I guess near the end of the day. Well, this amazing lady totally blew my mind and then some.
I had several photographs of a hairstyle I wanted — a particular Japanese rock musician’s hair — and I had them with me when I went in. Christine took one look at the pictures and said, «this is AWESOME, let’s do it!» Her enthusiasm and get go were great, but then she asked me, «who is he and where is he from?»
Here, things got really interesting. :) I told her he was a vocalist from a Japanese rock band (Satoshi from Girugamesh, to be exact), and her first response? «Well bring in his music and let’s listen to it!»
At this point my jaw’s on the floor, how AWESOME can this woman get?! So I bring in my thumb drive from my car that has all my JRock on it, and I load up her MP3 player with them — she wanted to listen to them later! — and she cuts my hair to an amazing soundtrack of Japanese rock. While I was loading her music up, we were chatting and we got on the subject of what I did for a living — IT — and she mentioned she had a problem with her PC. It was a quick fix and I was able to do it while copying the music files. The fact that she and I could just connect and chat like we’d known each other for a long time was just great.
Regarding the music — it was a hit! She absolutely loved it. Half-​way through my cut, the playlist blanked, and she said, «well, let’s start it up again». Simply amazing!
She spent two hours on my hair — she did the entire cut with a razorblade to get the layered, choppy look I wanted. She also massaged my scalp with oils and washed my hair. All for $ 42.50, a steal! What floored me even more was she asked if she could keep the pictures of Satoshi, I said sure! I have even more where those came from! XD Who would have thought I’d make a Girugamesh fan going to get my hair cut?!
She also gave me advice on styling — because I have super-​thin blonde hair and not thick black hair like the Japanese guy, she told me I would have to style it with lots of stuff, and different stuff than what he was using. She recommended a hair straightener hair clay (and it’s literally that, clay) and gave me an entire jar of it for free! I ended up buying the hair straightener from her, and she didn’t even charge me tax. I ended up tacking it onto her tip. ;)
We ended up becoming friends on Facebook, and I’m due for another cut from her — my Satoshi mullet is getting out of control! — and I will definitely be coming back to her every time!

This is by far the best salon I’ve ever been to. I’ll admit haven’t been to many, but that’s only because I’m extremely picky. I followed Erin over to here from her last salon and this place is the best! The girls are all super friendly and the décor is very modern and comfortable. It’s like the common room you and your friends always hung out in during and after college. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a hair place to call home.

I have been going to Self Image for years and my hair is well taken care of! Christine, Kristin and the rest of the ladies at Self Image care about their clients and goes well beyond good hair. I know when I have an appointment with Christine that I’m going to walk out ready for a date and I always love how my hair turns out. It’s a true experience and somewhat like visting family. When I choose a salon, I’m all about the whole experience and not just a good haircut. I love visiting my friends at Self Image and having beautiful hair is just an added bonus!
