Skating Plus

As a regular at skating plus I can honestly say that skating plus is by far and without a doubt one of the most fun places I’ve ever been to. It’s very kid friendly (there are arcade games and skating games like the races, the numbers game, the dot game, etc.), the staff are all very kind and helpful, I consider many of them to be my friends or at the very least very close acquaintances, the music and environment are very entertaining, the parties (especially the glow parties), are always very fun, they provide skating lessons for the kids on saturday mornings, and (my personal favorite), theres a derby team you can join, The Westcoast Derby Knockouts, which I am a proud team member of. In short, skating plus is a fun, cost effective place (waaaaay better than skate land in Northridge, which is awful and literally 4 times more expensive), and it has become my home away from home and completely changed my life for the absolute best. Now, in response to Aimee B., from the sounds of it, you were there right in the middle of a night session (which explains the nasty bathrooms), and it was hours after it was first cleaned. Keep this in mind: it is a skating rink, people, especially kids, are going to lose their balance and make a mess, second of all, only 2 of the bathrooms in your picture were out of order, third of all, there is nothing wrong with the paper towel dispensers, I’ve been going there no doubt longer than you have and I have never and not to this day seen a problem with either one of them, fourth of all, the staff are very busy and theres not many of them and they certainly don’t have time to repeatedly check the bathrooms, if you wanted something done you should’ve told someone and they gladly would’ve helped you, fifth of all… don’t you think its quite unfair that you talked about how fantastic it was but then reduced the rating to 1 star just because of the toilets?

Hands down the best skating floor in SoCal, and that was before a lot of the rinks closed. The sound system and lighting rock. Most of the deejays are excellent emcees and they will take your requests. You won’t find more knowledgeable people in any skate shop — the managers and sales staff truly know their stuff. The employees do an amazing job dealing with the hordes of youngsters that descend on the place for special events, especially in the snack bar. It should be mentioned that the rink is very kid friendly, so at practically any session you will find adults and children skating together, but for the most part you can bust it out and get your skate on regardless. A safe, easygoing atmosphere prevails there. I wish there were more local adults who skated regularly to make an adult night feasible.

I visited skating plus a few weeks ago with 5 kids, one of which has special needs. It was his first time trying to skate. As soon as he had his skates on he had to use the restroom and while in the restroom he fell and hit his nose on his walker which caused a very bad bloody nose. It became obvious that this wasn’t the place for him. After attending to him and gather all the other kids I had with me I requested a refund. The employee was very understanding of our situation and refunded me all my money without a hassle. Great customer service!

I’ve been going to skating plus for around 14 years and they always provide genuine fun. Not only do I get a workout but I get to practice my skills and feel like a boss. This place is the greatest. It’s a classic awesome skating rink, and after visiting skating rinks in various other cites, I know now that skating plus is the best around Southern California. I saw some comments about the «young employees having a rude tone» but that couldn’t be more untrue. The people working are kids, yes, and they are gonna act like kids, but they run a awesome place and do it well. Some places you go and there’s no character. The dj is always getting everyone to have fun. Puts on his own little show every session and really makes the experience. I’ve never know anyone to come and not enjoy there time here. I will continue to come for years to come.

Fun for kids. The food court is gross. The employees do not wash their hands or wear gloves while handling food. I witnessed the 2 girls in the back room combing each others hair then come up and not wash their hands and continue to handle food. After we complained to the manager he did nothing just walked away from us. Nice place to skate but don’t recommend eating here.

This is a fun place to go to skating/​rollerblading. They have races, limbo and the number game. Fun for all ages but I do think they can play better music.

I’m an employee at Skating Plus, I’ve been working here for almost 2 years and I would just like to point out a few things for the people who posted some bad reviews. Not sure if you all know of Sonny, but he is the main manager here and he works his hardest to make sure everything is perfect or close to perfect which is why I am writing this review because I know how hard he works to maintain everything and make sure that the customers and the employees are enjoying themselves. He happens to be one of the most hardest working man I’ve gotten to know and it’s upsetting to see reviews that put down the business he’s been with for so long.
I was reading a review where the trash bin in the bathroom was in the middle of the walkway in front of the restroom stalls, I can reassure you that the trash cans are not just laying around in the bathroom, pushed over. They are always exactly where they belong unless someone decides to push it over, which we cannot control. And regarding the smell of the bathrooms, it’s a bathroom, people do their business and leave. Yes, some of the stalls get out of order, which is why there are signs stating that they are out of order. But those got fixed, and there are working perfectly well now! We try our best to clean the bathrooms as thorough as we can, which is why we have good smelling spray that stays in there to control the odor.
We are not always available to immediately go clean the bathrooms as soon as someone complains. We try our hardest to get to everything to make sure everyone stays safe and are having fun. I would like to point out that this is a business and businesses are always going to have its ups and downs. Some business’s do not care as much about their customers but at skating plus, we want to make sure you have an enjoyable time and come back again and become a regular customer, which is why we care about our customers. You are important and we want you to come back.
All employees have off days and we still manage to get through everything and help customers with a smile on our faces even if we feel as though we are about to break. I’m come to work sometimes upset or sad, and I understand that I have to put those feelings behind me because the customer comes first. We want to make sure you have an amazing time. If there have been times where you have felt neglected by the employees, please know that it was not personal with you but they were most likely having an off day. Nobody’s perfect but we try our hardest to make sure you have a perfect day.
Overall, skating plus is a friendly, family environment. A bathroom should not stop someone from coming back because a trash can was pushed down or a stall wasn’t working, like I’ve stayed several times, we try to clean and fix as soon as we can so that you have a good experience at skating plus. Customers always come first which is not something we take lightly. We always put the customers before anything else.
So come to Skating Plus if you want to have an amazing time roller skating. :)

The skating rink itself is in good condition. The staff is friendly and helpful. However, the bathrooms are the reason for my bad rating. The restrooms are absolutely disgusting and unsanitary. The smell from clogged toilets and lack of cleaning/​proper sanitizing is horrendous. One of the two paper towel dispensers had paper towels in it and is on its last leg. It was a fight to get anything out of it. There are 4 toilets and 3 of them were not working during our visit (4÷8÷15). The one toilet that was working doesn’t have a stall door that will close. So, therefore, there pretty much is NOT a women’s restroom to use while at Skating Plus.
Other than the restroom issue our party had such a great time! BUT… This place could be shut down based on the women’s restroom if an inspection were to be done on it. It is DISGUSTING! Sorry, Skating Plus… 1 star for you and your poopy filled toilets!

Worst experience. I went last night to celebrate my sons 7^th birthday. He has never skated before and was really excited to skate. Like any child trying to learn to skate, he kept falling. When I realized they had a device to aid in skating, I went to ask for one. That’s when I discovered you have to pay $ 5 to borrow it! How ridiculous. Wouldn’t the company want their little guests to stay safe and feel encouraged to skate free of charge?! I mean, you already have to pay to get in AND to skate. However, I did pay for the rental and the employee just threw it over the counter and walked away. He didnt even explain the correct way to use it.
The employees are extremely rude. Most of them looked like teenagers with no prior experience with customer service. Always on their phone. Never seeming happy to help. Annoyed even. I feel horrible that I picked Skating Plus to celebrate my sons birthday. My family and I will never be going back.

* employees are too busy talking to each other to tend to customers
* the employee working at the shoe rental area was busy on his cell phone and wouldn’t even put it down when I said hello to him. (Must’ve been important) It literally took him 10 seconds before he looked up at me.
* restrooms reek and are filthy
It is extremely rude and unprofessional how the staff works. Cell phones should not be with them while working and side conversations should not be held while customers need service. It doesn’t seem like any of them are happy to help.

Remember how much fun skating used to be? It still is and this is a good place to re experience those oh so fond memories.

It was my first time here last Sunday night with my friend Wendy. We had a good experience. (Thanks Wendy) We didn’t go there to eat, so if you do eat there Yes its a little expensive but. Like all the snack bars at The Movies, Mini Golf and Ice rinks
Not a big Surprise there :) They have a Vending Machine with Sodas and Waters anywhere from$ 2.00 to $ 4.00 I believe. I got a Ruby red for $ 2.00 I was happy to have something cold :)
The staff was friendly, the place was clean, The D. J was playing good music and they had a game for the kids as well on the floor. This is a great place to get some good exercise and hang out with your friends. Will be back very soon and hope you all have a good time too :) HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Last night I decided to take the family skating. I arrive with a long lineup get in, we stand in line for about 5 minutes then another window opens and help the people in back of the line which then got there long after I have been there and they get in before us. Manager should address this to there employees. I finally get to the front of the line and I have a coupon for a coupon book I bought from the school and it’s not valid on Fridays. why? skating plus should even get in the coupon book then. I wait for the rental skates and the employees are busy talking to each other instead of helping the customers. One was on there phone too. I play a game of pinball called Lethel Weapon are the right flipper was barely working so then I put 50 cents in the other pinball machine called Street Fighter and the right flipper doesn’t work at all. I go to the front to let them know about the pinball machines and ask for my 50 cents back and they say the don’t own the machines so you are playing at your own risk. If you have the games you need to maintain them up to date. I also noticed trash on the floor and the bathroom had urine smell .They need to design someone to walk around and keep the place clean you would think. The kids they are hiring need to learn customer service and smile too.

We’ve been taking our grandchildren (age 3 and 4 when we started) there for lessons and skating on Saturday mornings for about a year off-​and-​on. The one-​star beginning class is PERFECT and Sonny and (usually) Bree are patient and caring with everyone in the class. If the class is larger, they bring in another assistant. They teach the basics and always get the students rolling. The junior session after the lesson is a perfect opportunity to practice what was taught. The four-​pack of lessons has an option to include lunch and the junior session. It is a BARGAIN. Children are moved up higher classes as they acquire skills. Some of the staff is available for individual lessons during the junior session. Again, very affordable. We have found the staff to be friendly and helpful at all levels. We have attended and held birthday parties there. Everyone had a great time. Bathrooms are basic, but clean. The look is very old-​school, but functional.

This is a typical roller rink. They staff is about average (mostly younger). The pricing is ok. The overall inside of the building is a bit used looking. The video game and price section is lacking though.

I recently went here after not going since I was a teenager & it was good to see the place hadn’t changed much. The rink itself is big. I went on a Wednesday & there weren’t too many people. There was a mix of both younger & older people there, skating away & having a good time. The music was great– the DJ played a lot of old school. Overall, it’s a fun place– whether you’re young or «old.»

This place rocks! I love skating here, love the music, you can even request songs

Great old school rink, largest one I have ever skated on. I wore my blades but most of the skaters were on skates. Fun and family oriented, staff was very friendly and helpful. They have a snack bar with many options including Dippin’ Dots Ice Cream.
