I love Solimar Beach! Watched the last sunset of 2015 while curled in a blanket. Located right off the State Beaches exit, Solimar provides a clean environment and relatively calm surf. Great beach for kids, families, lovers, and friends to spend time in the sand and the sea.

Great little beach. Very dog friendly. Not overcrowded on the weekdays. We definitely stop here every time we are headed in this can be challenging getting down to the beach, but keep on looking there are small pathways through the rocks. We had no problems getting our dogs down there.

Our family are residents of Ventura county. My husband is a native Venturan born and raised here. He has been coming to this beach since he was a little boy in the sixties. We live here because we enjoy the beach. We have not been able to enjoy our beaches because of the rv’s that have been taking over our day use parking. They are taking up the entire day park space use with their motor homes. Each motor home is taking up multiple spaces, that could fit 5 – 7 vehicles and cording off additional space in front of and behind with folding chairs, cones, and caution tape in order to save spaces for friends coming later in the day. Knowing that open beverages are illegal to drink in public, they are consuming alcohol and becoming belligerent and slipping back into their motor homes if a deputy, or ranger comes by. On the entire parkway, there is Emma wood campground, Faria campground, the parkway between Faria and Hobson, in addition to Hobson campground and all the home owners areas, leaves a small area for surfers, fisher man and families driving their cars for the day at the beach. Not to mention the construction area that has been going on for over two years which diminishes more parking. When all of these campgrounds are full, they come and consume all of the day use parking so that we can’t park there. They are coming in the night and 5 am to find their space, although parking is only allowed from 6 am — 9 pm. Even with the penalty fees raised they’re still saturating our beaches. This brings more trash which they don’t pick up and tensions amongst the locals and rv’s. It is not fair that they have already consumed most if not all the beach parking and still want more. We arrived the morning of 4th of July to spend it on the beach to find that all the spots were already taken by rv’s before six o’clock am. Chairs were put out to save spaces. I removed those chairs from one rv camper in order to park our truck at 7am. We continually have to get into a confrontation with the owner’s of the rv’s because they feel entitled to own the beach. The only solution that us locals can see is no rv access on this small sliver of beach within this large area of the parkway which they have consumed. Please respond and do something before something bad happens amongst the locals and rv’ers. This is getting worse every year, action has to be taken before someone explodes and people get hurt.

I’ve been going to this beach nearly my entire life. PROs – Thankfully, it’s not the first spot surfers want to go to, so it doesn’t get too packed on good days. It’s a beach break and a nice place to hang out. Beautiful views and you can walk up to the houses at solimar or down to Emma Wood. CONS – Over the years the parking gets inundated with RVs on weekends, holidays, and all summer. It sucks because a handful of RVs take up spaces. It’s free parking so I guess that’s how it goes, but it still sucks. Another con are valley douchebags, or any douchebag who doesn’t understand proper etiquette. Just because you went out and bought a $ 500 wetsuit and $ 800 Al Merrick doesn’t make you a surfer. Go to Ventura Point. I’ll still keep going here. Thankfully, the knuckleheads who find themselves here are few and far between.

Solimar Beach is amazing – easy drive up the coast from Ventura, parking on the side of the road, nice white sand, and great surf. I used to come here almost every day during the summer time. At 63 degrees outside you could lie on the beach and be perfectly warm with a light breeze. What a great beach. Dogs are allowed.
