I’m a professional wrestler /bodybuilder, so trust me… when I get a strong case of the hungs I don’t fool around. I’m like, hey chula gimme a bakers dozen of your finest tacos. If you are what you eat, then I’m a Taqueria Tepatitlan taco. The bigger the headache, the bigger the pill baby.

My whole experience was great. Friendly greeting when we walk in. The food was delicious. I had the enchiladas plate I would recommend it. I will definitely be coming back to try different things from the menu.

I believe the Unilocal community has this rating correct. Solid 4 star spot with a diverse menu and beers on tap. The place is unassuming and unless you know the address or where to go you will drive right past it. I enjoyed the 3 taco lunch plate and added a side of guac– all in were talking $ 17(tip included) without the guac more like $ 14 w a tip. Usually 3 tacos is too much however these tacos are on the small side so the benefit is you can sample different meats if you choose. I went with 2 asada and 1 carnitas — both had a great flavor and then meat cooked great. The only downside I felt was the salsa options could be better and I prefer my beans a little more chunky vs soupy… Other than that you won’t be disappointed if you give this place a try. Hey now!

Its hard finding good Mexican food when you’ve been spoiled by San Diego Mexican food/Mexican culture all together. This place is a gold mine! Best Mexican food/drink spot in Ventura for sure. The owners are very nice, and the service is great too. Its a family business, and it definitely feels like one. Don’t waste your time anywhere else! Order a Michelada or 5, they’re delicious.

Friendly staff and food was delicious. Came here on Cinco de Mayo and couldn’t resist getting a burrito. They suggested the Al pastor burrito to try. Well, I never really eat Al pastor normally carne asada or pollo but then wanted to go with the clerks suggestion. Well, she wasnt wrong! The meat was tender and tasty. Was the right amount of meat to bean, rice and cheese ratio. They had fantastic sauces to smother the burrito with(that’s the way I like it). Burrito hit the spot for my Mexican cravings.

I love coming here. The michiladas are great the food is amazing and it is family friendly. For that I’m giving them a 5 star review. Lately I’ve noticed a hit or miss with service. Depending on who you get will make or break. Today a family walked in after mine had already been seated for some time. They were seated served and had their food and check before we did. This has happend quite a few times now but I’m still leaving this 5 star to show my support for a local favorite. Thanks

I have never been to a restaurant that has had such consistently amazing customer service. Every single person that works here instantly becomes your friend. Nothing fake. Nothing phony. Just really good people. The food is great. I love that this place is a mix of taqueria and sit-down Mexican food. The mole is the best I’ve ever had and when they have the habanero salsa I want to cry. It is so good. They will also do anything to get your order the way you want it. One of my favorite things is the constantly rotating beer menu. They serve some amazing IPAs in those giant frosty schooners.

A friend who lived in the area recommended this place. It was worth waiting 30+ minutes for a table. Tasty tacos, fajitas and enchiladas made us want to come back the next night.

Great breakfast place if you like Mexican entrees. Dinner choices are also great. Chrispy tacos, Huevos Rancheros, Mucheladas(Red Beer), Chilaquiles and Pozole are great. Good service. Reasonably priced. Been a return customer for years.

The Avenue in Ventura is like a pot of Mexican food gold where the Hispanic leprechaun’s rainbow ends and your gluttonous nacho and michelada desires begin. With that said, Taqueria Tepatitlan is a big part of the Avenue’s legendary reputation and I recently discovered why. The micheladas are on point. The carnitas nachos(with two over easy eggs on top) were both new to me and mind-blowingly awesome. The fish tacos were sold out(good sign.) The shrimp tacos were«I don’t even know» because by the time I got to them I was so beyond full my tastebuds were taking a nap. My wife had chicken tacos, which I honestly never care for and were incredible(even the one I reheated the next day.) This place will definitely be one of my go-to spots from now on. Try it or diet final word Come on… I said«pot of gold.» Of course you have to try it.

This is a 25 year owned and operated family own business. As soon as you walk in your greeted with a warm reception. The customer service is extremely laid back and friendly. The food is very well priced and the food taste amazing. You will need a nap afterward. If you’re into spicyness please ask for their habanero salsa. Sorry that salsa is off the chain good. This restaurant is off the beaten path AWAY from the main blvd, but don’t let that phase you, venture to where the locals dine. For sure making my way back here.

Tried this place based on the good reviews. We were blown away. What a cute, cozy authentic place. Well worth the short wait. Food did not disappoint, I had the shrimp taco and carnitas enchilada with tangy green sauce. Shrimp was lightly breaded and crunchy, complimented with a tasty sauce and tender cabbage. Homemade tortillas were heavenly. My husband had asada taco and the chili relleno which he raved about. Not bland like other reviews stated. I thought it was great! We will be back soon to try other items. Just a side note: they have a beautiful bathroom.

The best Mexican food in Ventura. These folks have the best frijoles I have ever eaten. Tonight I had a fish taco and and a chile relleno; my wife and daughter had the carnitas. We all loved it. Service is super friendly and the price is very reasonable. Do not miss this place.

Finally got around to checking them out. A really good taqueria with great food. However, what sets them apart in my opinion is the customer service. The owners were genuinely interested in our experience here. They introduced themselves, shook my hand and suggested menu items they thought I would like based on our conversation about food and heat levels.(I like it HOT!) Aside from the LOUD guy at the bar who assumed everyone was interested in his story, It was a pleasure eating here and I will definately return, if for no other reason than to accept the owners heat challenge. Great people, great food! And the home made Michelada in the big, frosty schooner with the spicy rim didn’t suck, either!

I love to come here! The customer service is the best and they remember you each time! Also the employees always offer to let you know the specials, and the fish is always fresh, never frozen so the fish tacos are so amazing! I keep coming back to try new things. I love everything I have tried. The Chili Relleno burrito is so good too! Mouth watering! Sporty atmosphere. Cozy booths! A bar! Beer! Always busy! So delish! Fast service!

I loved the shrimp cocktail we had but the chile relleno and taco platter was ok. The refried beans and rice were delicious and the taco had sour cream and guacamole which I liked but the chile relleno was kind of bland and lacking flavor. The cheese in it was nice but there was no flavor. The server was very friendly and the service was good. They brought 2 different kinds of salsa and they were really good but the tortilla chips were ok. I’m gonna go back and give it another try.

Talk about a diamond in a ruff. Most people wouldn’t head out this far out from downtown, but I am so glad we did. This is probably one of the most authentic Mexican restaurants around… you can definitely taste it in the food. When we arrived there were people waiting out side since the restaurant was completely full. I chatted with some of the people that were waiting who said that they regularly come here because the food and the family that owns it are extremely nice. That to me was a great sign. We ordered 2 carne asada burritos to-go. It probably took about 20 minutes and then they were ready. I wasn’t worried about the wait because from what I heard the wait is worth it. Our burritos came with chips and multiple mini salsas to take home. When we left the owner of the restaurant made it a point to come back and eat at the restaurant because that is an experience in itself. Please refer to the pictures I posted, but these were the biggggggest burritos I have ever seen! They were full of juice and flavor. One burrito can be shared by 3 people so beware you will have left overs. *good sign! Don’t hesitate in trying the restaurant it’s definitely worth the wait and every shiny penny you have ;)
