Had to do it. Even at risk of a ticket. I couldn’t be in my old age and living in regret of growing up in Ventura and never going to two trees. Not an easy hike, but not super hard. Just has its steep points. Go when weather is comfortable.

Important landmark(unofficial?) of Ventura. PROS – Arguably the best views of Ventura, to Oxnard, and all the way down to Port Hueneme on a clear day. Great views of the Channel Islands, and the beaches. The hike really isn’t too bad. You can also turn around and see the untouched local mountains as far back as Ojai. CONS – The days of hiking up without a problem are over. The Sheriff and VPD have stepped up enforcement of the area. You’ll probably get a ticket. Yes, there are other routes up there aside from the popular ones, but it will take you longer. I can understand property owners being upset with people who make noise, get drunk, and leave trash. This should surely be an official landmark for Ventura/Ventura County, yet the trees are on private land. Perhaps one day? Alas, it is technically closed off to the public… although if you don’t mind the prospect of a ticket, and generally want to see the view without disturbing the neighbors, give it a try.

Nice hike. Beautiful view. Tricky coming down. I made a wrong turn and had to hop a few more fences than anticipated. Dry. Bring water.

DONOTDOIT! TRESPASSINGTICKET! Just had a wonderful hike and was greeted by Sherriff’s at the bottom followed by a trespassing ticket. The owner of the property has people(in a white van) watch the hillside and they do call Sherriff’s to come give tickets. NOWARNINGSWILLBEGIVEN. Obey the signs they are legit.

Access: I would recommend parking close to the open space between the two houses. You turn left on hilltop street(the turn right before the poinsettia pavilian) and take the road up a little bit(it will wind to the right, then the open dead grass patch is on the left. Park close to that and walk towards the ‘no trespassing’ sign. No joke lol that’s where the hike begins. You are kinda on the side of a hill for a little ways, there will be more ‘no trespassing’ signs. There is no barbed wire issues this way. Hike: It’s short, but steep at parts. The path dips up and down a couple times. There’s loose dirt and lots of red ants so wear dirty shoes and don’t stop. One tree was spray painted, the other had remnants of tp all over it: /beer cans and trash scattered. The view is gorgeous though.

I used to hike up there all the time with my cousins. Don’t remember the guy’s name who used to try to run us off the property. He would«patrol» on his 4 wheeler… started with 5 trees back in the dark ages…

Ah, iconic two trees. This was a rather short, steep hike. If you attempt to keep your pace, you will get a work out. To get to the top you have to cross a «no trespassing» sign, so beware to the worry warts. The area is pretty busy during the day, but when we went at sunset, there was only a small group coming down the hill. There were, as stated by Rene M., some beer cans. The poor trees are carved quite a bit which is a small but surmountable misfortune. This is actually a great place to take a small dinner with a bottle of wine and can be very romantic. The views are definitely grand and when we went, there was a big fog layer, so it was like we were on top of the clouds. Do be careful of the barbed wire and gopher holes. This one can be rough on people with weak knees and hips.

I swear that you can see this hill from almost everywhere in Ventura and Oxnard. It has a great view on clear days. It’s a short hike that requires a few ninja skills to get through barbed wires. I also recommend the Father Serra Cross Aka Grant Park close by(no hiking required). You can drive up there and enjoy the downtown view of Ventura… with sexy results.

I love two trees. Been there millions of times. My husband and I used to hike there regularly(before we moved). Even got engaged there :) It’s a good hike, about 30−45min depending where you start the hike(there are a couple ways to get there). One is right off of Foothill, by the Poinsettia Pavilion, just go under the barbed wire and you are on your way. The other is to actually drive into the Poinsettia Pavilion and just take that road up a bit, on your left hand side you’ll come across and empty lot that’s in between two houses. Just park your car right under the tree for some shade, walk into the lot and you’ll see the trail that you follow. Eventually you’ll reach some barbed wire and have to go under that as well. Which ever place you start from you get a good workout. Beautiful view especially when it’s all green. Once I’m at the top I like to climb the tree, and look at the hundreds of carvings. Keep an eye out for snakes, I have come across many. I was running down the hills and ran right over one crossing the trail. My brother has come across a rattlesnake too. The one thing that pisses me off is when youngsters go up there and leave their beer cans everywhere. So annoying. Other than that, this place is awesome. Highly recommended.
