Dennis Belt Sensei is a fantastic instructor as are all the instructors at this dojo. If you want real traditional Japanese martial arts training combined with introspective self-growth, this is your place. Belt Sensei is one of the highest ranked teachers in the country and Ventura Aikikai is the place for transforming your body, mind and spirit. Highly recommended.

I have been training at Ventura Aikikai since 1992. This dojo has a long history of providing the best Aikido training available in our area. Ventura Aikikai is part of the Birankai(Chiba Sensei’s organization). The instructors are dedicated to training in the traditions of the art as set forth by the founder, O’sensei and passed on to us from Chiba Sensei. Ventura Aikikai provides training in the body arts, weapons(jyo and bokken) and Iaido. Children’s classes are currently offered on Sunday which is an excellent class that teaches body mechanics, safe falling and respect in a fun atmosphere. The members who train regularly are kind and helpful. If you’re looking for a martial arts dojo to begin training, definitely come by and check out a class one evening during the week.

I have been a member of Ventura Aikikai(formerly The Moving Center) family for more than 10 years. What impresses me most is the consistent quality of the people involved with this organization. Membership seems to naturally attract people who are mutually supportive of one another. Members come from a diverse background and attend practice driven by their effort to better develop their mind/body relationship. Instruction is top notch and each teacher participates in teacher trainings to maximize their teaching skills. Both adult and children classes are given and all levels of experience are welcome. I recommend that when searching for a martial arts program you watch a class and find out if the class is conducted in a safe environment; talk to the instructor to make sure it meets your needs. Check out the teacher qualifications and whether there is a governing body to which the dojo is accountable. I invite you to visit a class at Ventura Aikikai and feel free ask questions.
