The seafood Rangoon is amazing. It contains whole scallops, shrimp, etc., wrapped in a delicious crisp shell. The duck in various dishes is tender and juicy, the fried rice is thoroughly tasty and not too oily, and the pad Thai is quite delicious, if seeming to lack fish sauce.

Green Basil Thai is one of our favorite restaurants. We either go there to eat or order carry out about 1 – 2 times a month. The food is always fresh and tasty with wonderful friendly service. My favorite dishes include Green Basil Duck, Shrimp Pad See Yieu and Seafood in Curry Sauce.

Awesome thai food joint in Vernon Hills! Great ambience with nice outdoor seating as well. Can’t go wrong with spicy pad Thai. Their prices are reasonable considering the place comes off as a nice restaurant. Under $ 10 for Chicken Pad Thai.

Stumbled across this place after learning Chick-fil-A was closed. After a long day of moving and cleaning, it was a better choice than fast food. First we ordered the soft shell crab papaya salad, which was a good start. The crab had a fresh taste. Then we started with a glass of the Epica Cabernet, which was the chef’s suggestion, a wonderful wine. For entrees, we had roasted duck in curry and the Chu Chee salmon. While both duck and salmon were good, the only complaint is the meats were cooked separately from the curries and just placed in the curries for presentation. Overall and ok meal after a long day, though pricing was high for a three star place.

The pot stickers are good and they do a good spicy basil fried rice, but the service can be slow and the stir fry was overly garlicky.

Needing a fast meal, I found Green Basil on Unilocal.Walked in, greeted, sat down immediately, told my server I was in a hurry. I ordered the Thai mainstay, Pad Thai with chicken with Thai ice tea. Everything came out quickly. Hot and delicious. A good place to go for«fast» food as well as slow meal!

I have been here countless times. This is one the best Thai places I have been to in the north suburbs. I really like their veggie fried rice and drunken noodles. The drunken noodles are like I have never had anywhere else. The lettuce wraps are good in vegetarian appetizers as well. I like it also cos you can have a date here, a corporate lunch or a good family time, all pretty reasonable.

Avoid in my opinion. I threw out the veggies because they smelled terrible, the salad was the size of a side salad, the desert was literally a 2″ x 2″ square for $ 5… Small portions and overpriced… Paid $ 32 for my order and I’m still very hungry. Going out to get a FULL meal elsewhere and very pissed about it. I’ll never come back again. Feels like they are trying to be «high end» with small portions and high prices. Don’t be fooled.

I have always picked up take-out from Green Basil, but this week I dined in with my mom during her visit from Florida. We both loved the food, and the service was excellent! The restaurant was very clean and cozy. The food was amazing — we both ordered Pad Thai. I definitely recommend their hot tea — they served a jasmine green tea with a low-key floral taste. I am definitely bringing visitors here in the future!

Green basil is a good restaurant. Very clean, nice and uncluttered bar area, good wine glasses… seems as though they really know the restaurant and service industry. Ordered pad thai with tofu, egg rolls and a glass of red wine(it was a red blend $ 8). Every was good, but too much oil used in the pad thai. I even asked for light oil so was disappointed in that regard. 1÷10÷16: Just ordered delivery last night; red curry with tofu and egg rolls. The egg rolls were completely different from last time, but still good. The red curry– very bland. It was all spice, yet watery and lacking that thicker curry flavor. Thai Noodles Café’s red curry is MUCHBETTER.

We come here once every few months. Good Thai food and nice service. It’s quieter if you get there a bit earlier. The sampler is always our favorite. Prices are reasonable.

If you’re looking for a Thai food that is quality and reasonably priced, this is it. We had seafood curry, honey sesame beef, pad thai, soup, and appetizers platter, all delicious and beatifully plated. Prices for entrees on average $ 10.95.

I have been to Green Basil for lunch several times while visiting Vernon Hills for work, but tonight was my first time being there for dinner. My coworker told me that their dinner portions were significant, so we decided to split an order of Chicken Pad Thai and a side of eggrolls, at the servers suggestion. We were not disappointed! We ended up with the perfect amount of food and we both got plenty to eat. The eggrolls were cut into four pieces so it was a total of two good-sized eggrolls. I don’t always like vegetarian eggrolls but these were delicious with a nice, flaky crunchy crust! I asked for extra cilantro and peanuts on our Pad Thai, and it came with a decent amount plus a small cup on the side. It didn’t have a ton of flavor but we were given a small condiment assortment on the side so adding red chili flakes and Sambal helped significantly! Besides the nice service the best surprise came at the end of our meal when we discovered our total bill was only $ 13! I don’t know if we lucked out and it was happy hour but the eggrolls were only three dollars. At that price I spent more to eat a sandwich for lunch than I did on food for two for dinner! I’m giving Green Basil five stars because everything was fresh and tasty, the service was pleasant, and you can’t beat that price!

This was the first time I’ve tried this place and I loved everyrhinf about it. The interior is simple, clean and nice. The servers were all nice, attentive and knowledgeable of what food and wines they offer. We ordered the pad thai with shrimp and it was delicious. The serving is just the right size and actually good enough to share. We also ordered basil rice with ground chicken, this was also so good! For dessert, I ordered the green tea mochi and I’ve always loved this treat. It was yummy but really small, not recommended for sharing. I will definitely be back to try other items in their menu!

Made my first visit here this past Saturday. Last week I ate at Tasty Thai which is maybe two blocks west of here. So I was anxious to compare and contrast the two. At both restaurants I ordered Chicken Pad Thai to go. Location: Both are in strip malls — Push Ambiance: Tasty Thai is fine but Green Basil is slightly nicer if you are eating in. Chicken Pad Thai: Green Basil was slightly better but it cost $ 2 more and Tasty Thai included two egg rolls. — Push Service: I ordered to go, but everyone seemed very friendly at both. Conclusion: If it is date night go to Green Basil, it is worth the extra couple of bucks for better food and nicer ambiance. However, if you are getting carry-out and have a big appetite go to Tasty Thai it is more food at a better price.

If there’s one thing you should know about me, it’s that I love my kids. I love them so much that I would go to Chuck E. Cheese«just for fun» and not just because there was a birthday party we had to attend. But even a mother’s love has its limits and I draw the line with food so there is no way I will eat at Chuck E. Cheese. I remembered this place from a while back and decided to give it a try again. We were pleasantly surprised by how much we liked it and how much we enjoyed the food. While we ordered our usuals consisting of spring rolls, pad see eiw and such, we were impressed by the uniqueness of certain dishes such as the basil chicken which was served over a whole roasted eggplant(this was my favorite dish!) The honey chicken was like having candy so the kids loved that for sure and there was also a special halibut dish that even my picky fish eater husband enjoyed. It was a slow weeknight so we had the restaurant to ourselves so we told the kids we had made arrangement for a private dinner(oh the lies a mother would tell to win her kids over!) Very pleasant and peaceful ambience while being low key enough for the family. I think we may have found our new Thai restaurant!

We love Green Basil. It is the perfect suburban, neighborhood, in a strip mall, Thai Asian, go to place. The food is always fresh, dining room always fresh and bright and comfy. Lots of up scale dishes, steamed fish, steak, and all the regular Thai dishes too. We go here when we are wanting any Asian food close to home,(except for Sushi).

There’s a lot to like about this restaurant. The décor with white tablecloths and a dedicated bar suggest its desire to be a more upscale Thai restaurant. The hours are friendly to late night diners which we appreciate. When we last went, the restaurant was abuzz with diners and the staff was equally abuzz, making sure that diners were happily served. I went with the Lard Nar. The fat noodles with meat and broccoli. It was good, but I was hoping for more in terms of richness of sauce. The satay order was generous in proportion. I’ve decided that Lard Nar is a dish that varies in preparation – I suspect that other dishes here would fall more into my mainstream yay review. Everything that went by us to other tables looked very good with enticing presentation.

As soon as I walked in, I thought I was under dressed because the dimmed lights casted an elegant environment. I was dressed in casual wear, but that didn’t stop me! I had to give this place a try. My brother and I decided to share an egg roll for an appetizer which was simple, crispy, and delicious. For the main course, I ordered the pad thai with tofu. It was a very large portion size. My brother ordered salmon which came with a gigantic egg plant and peanut butter sauce smothered all over it. I got the opportunity to try that and it was phenomenal. Who would think of fish and peanut butter? It pairs nicely to say the least. The service was decent. I felt as if they were rushing us in and out but I guess that’s just how you control traffic in busy restaurants. Overall, good food based on what I was able to try. I would definitely recommend!
