McAfee Ski & Snowboard

The people here are very polite (mostly) but I already had my own snowboard, helmet, and goggles– all I needed was a pair of boots for the day. They charged me full price just for a pair of rental snowboard boots (close to $ 40) Absolutely absurd. Could have rented somewhere else for $ 10.

This is my first time here (weekday of mid Feb). Staff were super friendly and chill. They were able to help me with all the questions I have for snowboarding. Quick rental service, no lines, no stinky feet smells. One of the boot was too tight and stiff because I wore ankle bracelet, after I told him that it didn’t fit, he provided me a different kind of boots with shoelace based right away. The price is amazing compared to Mountain Creek of $ 49.99 + tax. This shop is about 2.5 miles from the main base and 1 mile away from the south base. Definitely come back here if I need to rent a equipment.

Went on a last minute ski trip to Mountain Creek, and this place was a few minutes past the mountain. All the guys working there were super friendly and helped us out right away. I rented a beginners ski package which included boots, skis, and poles. Definitely have been spoiled by Aspen with brand new equipment as a renter, but nonetheless this was okay. The rates are $ 29.95 and $ 9.95 for a helmet. The boots and poles were a bit outdated. The guy tuned the skis to make sure they fit my boots before we left. It was definitely worth it compared to the prices at Mountain Creek. Just make sure to return all the items with your yellow slip before 9pm!

Been here twice already and I’ve been more than satisfied with their quick and easy policy. It’s only a few minutes drive away from Mountain Creek, so I see no reason to pay extra if you have room in your car.
Rates are around $ 30 per day which is way better than the rates offered at Mountain Creek.
The people here are nice to beginners and to people who have very little experience on the mountains. Definitely coming back!

Save the aggravation and go to Mountain Creek for your rental. Worst ski rental experience in my last 30 years! And definitely read the fine print!
I decided to go here to give a local business a sale, since their seasonal rental fee was close to the larger shops. First, I was greeted with an attitude, then they started ringing me up for a new rental that was double the internet price. They said the lesser price was older equipment. No problem. I went with the old one.
Then came the deposit mess. This is their scam! They get rental and double the price with a deposit. They get to keep your cash, interest free for 6 months. Then, they are only open until March when the owners must go to Florida or something and everyone who skis, keeps going til April. I tried to bring the skis back and they were closed for 6 months (After a 40 minute drive to try to return the first of 3 times!!). So you have to wait and plan your life around their re-​opening in September. But wait, you only have 15 days (Excluding the Monday’s they are closed) to bring them back or you don’t get your deposit back. Wham! They have all of you original money, or you are locked into another rental with this crappy place. And by the way, NO EXCEPTIONS to this deceptive policy.
Mountain Creek has long lines, but they use decent equipment, everything is quick and they have dozens of nice kids helping you along the way. When you drop off, they scan the bar codes, and you walk home. Period. I hope Mountain Creek puts this place out of business.

On my first trip to Mountain Creek, my buddy told me about a place only a few minutes from the mountain but charged significantly less for a rental.
We arrived 20 minutes after they opened and they were already busy. We were lucky enough to see a short line and $ 35 snowboard rental with taxes and fees included.
They seem to have everything all lined up the minute you walk in the door to make sure you get in and out as quickly as possible. Great set-​up. I will definitely come back to McAfee in the future if I ever go back to Mountain Creek.

If zero stars were an option, I would have selected it. There was nothing wrong with the establishment itself but the only woman working in the shop was atrocious. The first problem I had was the sheet that you fill out for binding. I selected type three skier. I have been skiing for 22 years in Colorado, I am VERY confident in my skiing abilities. I was then told that if I were «really a type three skier, I would not be renting skis.» Right, because I bring my skis everywhere I go. She then scratched out type three and circled two (why is it on the paper as an option?!). Whatever makes you sleep better at night. She then asked me what length skis I wanted and I told her 160s. She looked at me like I had 9 heads and questioned me once again if I could «handle» 160s. Why do you care?! To top off the experience it was my girlfriends first time skiing and her bindings were incredibly too tight. They didn’t come off after 5 summersaults down the mountain. If you have skied you know that this isn’t safe for a beginner– bindings are supposed to be loose so that when you fall, they come off and don’t hit you. I will obviously never rent here again. I wanted to support a local business but next time I will save myself the hassel of lugging the skis from the car and rent on the mountain.

it’s a mid-​sized store about a mile away from mountain creek — and that makes it so very convenient. They have a good selection of skis, boards, apparel, accessories, etc. I didn’t check this out too much as I came just for the rentals.
Rented skis for two days consecutive days. Rates are really good at 30/​day, considering mountain creek charges 45/​day. I saved 30 dollars which makes me a happy girl!
Definitely not the friendliest brunch, especially the older staff members who seem to be in charge. They definitely helped people who came in after me and ignored me for a while when I was renting. But the equipment is par or better than Mountain Creek. Definitely coming back to rent them again.
