I understand all the 4 and 5 star reviews. Vernon’s dining options are, in a word, terrible, so Three Hearts is an oasis in that respect. The only reason I can’t give them 4 stars is that the prices don’t match the quality. You’re paying steakhouse prices for supermarket beef. But that’s really it for negatives. Good atmosphere, clean as a whistle, friendly service, and otherwise good food. The temperature on the steaks was perfect, though they were just a touch under-seasoned. The baked potato was«do it yourself», with a naked potato served with packets of butter, a tube of sour cream, and little cups of shredded cheese and bacon bits. I found that rather annoying, and it’s more what I’d expect from dirt lot barbecue rather than a steakhouse. Fried okra was nice, and they also make their own chips. Always nice. Hamburger was pretty good, with a great bun but slightly under-seasoned patty. Kids’ options are limited, but available.

I have never written a review for somewhere that didn’t even eat, but this time I have to. Friday night we were in Vernon for our hometowns football playoff game. And if y’all know Texas, you know this a very big deal! Anyway, the hostess noticed our schools tee shirts and told us that she could get us seated but the kitchen was swamped and that we might not get served fast enough to make kick off. I’m embarrassed that I didn’t get her name because I want to give her kudos X1000. That’s caring about your job above and beyond what you see anywhere anymore. I promise to eat there next time we are through town and post a review. And we won our game btw, thanks for asking

Don’t miss this Steakhouse. We thought Vernon’s downtown was like something out of a Western movie. The Three Hearts is full of local charm and the owner and staff could not have been nicer. My husband had the sirloin and I had the grilled chicken. Both were delicious! After dinner don’t miss checking out the latest flick at the nostalgic movie theatre«The Plaza» just around the corner

We were passing through Vernon Texas. Stopped at a local campground to spend the night. The lady at the campground recommended this steakhouse. It far surpassed my expectations. The prices were extremely reasonable and the food was the best we’ve had while traveling through the state of Texas. The people here are friendly and the waitress was excellent. I would highly recommend…

Don’t waste your time stopping here… unless you enjoy sweating while you sit indoors… or brown, wilted salad… or flies landing on your food… I ordered salmon(burnt and gross) my husband ordered the 8 oz. sirloin(tasted like raw chicken???) The one star that I have given this place is only because you can get a pitcher of beer for $ 6. Now I have to hope my family and I survive the rest of our road trip without frequent stops and bouts of explosive diarrhea:(

Nothing like a small town hot spot. After driving through the outskirts of town we finally said, I bet down town near the courthouse will have some food. They sure did. Three Hearts steakhouse is the best place to eat that is non chain. I even asked other guests waiting to be seated if this was the place to be and they all said YES. The fried mushrooms were great and a good way to start. I went with the 12oz ribeye and like other reviewers have said, it’s not a top quality cut and comes with lots of fat, but the taste is spot on! Don’t waste your time with the toast and veggies. Just get a potato and stick to the meat! Wife had a really great chicken fried chicken. The wait staff backed each other up and were very personable and friendly. Nothing like eating dinner in small town Texas!

I asked for med-rare, steak was Purple and cold. The generic frozen veggies were cold when they brought it back out. The potato was hot and cooked properly, but it came without bacon or real butter. The only good thing I can say about the meal is that it was comped.

Vernon has a cute old downtown and isn’t as much of a ghost town as some of its neighboring towns. This restaurant was all heart — the owner has clearly put a lot of work into it. It had a great feeling/atmosphere and was packed. We were particularly entranced by the mural by the bar — it combined Texas traditions with city art — really interesting. The owner(who spoke with us several times — very smart and nice) said each heart on the mural represents one of her children. The waitstaff were all great. I ran to the bathroom upon arrival and our waitress came to where I was waiting in line to make sure she got my drink order. The food was very reasonably priced and very tasty — we got steaks, salad, and baked potato for $ 10.99 each — the steak was cooked perfectly, and the salad was crisp and fresh. The potato had that yellow(overdone?) tinge that seems to happen in restaurants. They had a range of domestic beers on tap and in bottle — they had one red wine which turned out to be delicious. The owner should be proud — she’s done good.

I agree with the previous reviewers that Three Hearts is the best restaurant in Vernon. My favorite is the burger. I get it with pepper jack, bacon, mushrooms and jalapenos and have them cook it rare. It is amazing. It is nice and juicy and the patty takes up the whole bun so there are no «wasted» bites. I sometimes get a burger and start eating and wonder why there’s so much bun, but then I realize there’s a huge amount of patty hanging off the other side!!! The bun is delicious too, and I’m not a big fan of buns. It’s kind of sweet and soft, like Hawaiian bread buns. The burgers come with homemade potato chips which are very crispy. I suggest passing on upgrading to their handcut fries, which come out soggy, even if you ask for them extra crispy. For appetizers, I love the fried mushrooms. They come out fresh and piping hot and it’s a generous portion of them too. I’ve probably ordered their ribeye 3 times. The first time it was very good, the other two times quite fatty and chewy, like a previous review said. The country fried chicken is good. Service is way better than the other steakhouse in town. It doesn’t take long to be greeted and seated and unless there’s a full house, food comes out fairly quickly.

Although there are not many restaurants to select from in this town, this is the BEST place to dine in Vernon. Menu is limited. Unsure of what to try, I took upon the recommendation of the friendly server and was recommended either the ½ lb burger or Ribeye Philly Cheesesteak. I tried the Ribeye Philly Cheesesteak and my date had the ½ lb burger. Both dishes were cooked to perfection and not greasy at all. We also had the freshly cut french fries, which were awesome; not too salty. Highly recommend this restaurant and will be dining here again soon!

My older brother, my mom and me all ate at Three Hearts last week. We had the steak, salad and mashed potatoes. And, it gave us food poisoning, it started with my brother throwing up, and we were like oh goodness he is so sick, then it was my mom and then me. And then for 3 days we had the worst diarrhea and throwing up known to man. we couldn’t keep anything down. The worst part is, is that we aren’t even from TX we were visiting family in Crowell. so we spent our vacation sick as dogs. I WOULDNEVERRECOMMENDTHISIS A FRIENDORFAMILY!

It has been somewhat of a hit or miss for me. Been there 3 times so far and the first time was amazing. The steak was cooked perfect, it was juicy and it came out in a timely manner. The second time the steak appeared to have been cooked right but it didn’t taste right. It had a real chewy texture and it took a while to come out. I can’t remember the third time because it was a last minute decision after a day of drinking. Haha. All in all I’ll give it a 4 based on the first trip there.
