After trying a donut from Dixie Cream, I decided I have found my go-to donut shop. It’s a small shop located on the end of the plaza. They serve coffee as well as empanadas and soup. These donuts are delicous! The are a little more pricey than the chain places and the box stuff but it’s worth it. These are REAL dounuts not ones that are made in a factory and shipped to stores. In my opinion they taste better than the chain restaurants too. They have the usual ones most donut places serve like chocolate, boston cream, glazed etc. There is one called the Angel Cream which is like a Boston Cream but filled with vanilla cream and it is probably my favorite. I bought two dozen and brough them to my job and everybody loved them.

my son told me about this place. I took my sister who was visiting from Ohio. Opened the door to most delicious aroma! Then we were greeted by the charming owner/chef! After a wonderful conversation about the shop and his yummy looking donuts, we brought a dozen of 15 donuts home! My first bite, I was just not expecting such a creamy textured treat! I’m sorry to say I had more than one… My sister fell in love with his apple fritter! I have since returned several times. The French chef now has empanadas and pot pies along with a few other surprises. The friendly greeting and the warm conversation is wonderful. You must get there early as they run out of donuts. Prices are excellent and the donuts are trans fat free! There are a few locations.

My dad took me for a Dixie Donuts run recently and I know why you have to get there super early for these bad boys. They are fantastic– especially the Boston Crème. Reminds me of a similar place on the Jersey Shore where people would line up at 6am for fresh donuts. Must go!

As a child, I remember going to Dixie Cream Donuts in Cutler Ridge, south of Miami. They had the best donuts in town and I remember Otto the owner as his family lived on our block. In fact, I used to cut his lawn. I never knew that Dixie Cream Donuts was a concept and that the recipe has been around since 1929. Relocating to Vero Beach from Fort Lauderdale last year, my friend Jessie from Jr. High School told me about the Dixie Cream Donuts in Fort Pierce. This particular location, though, has nothing to do with that location and is separately owned by Chris Hopkins. Hopkins also owns the location in Lakewood Park in Fort Pierce. On December 1st — grand opening day — I purchased 11 dozen donuts to bring back to Fort Lauderdale on my Monday morning drive south. I was the very first customer of this new Dixie Cream Donuts rolling in at 6:05 a.m. in the pouring rain. Hopkins and his one female employee — I forgot her name — were more than happy to help me. The system here is quite simple. Donuts are $ 1 each, a 7 piece half-dozen for $ 6, and a 14 piece dozen — called the Dixie Dozen — for $ 10.(Pictures above.) As for coffee, I had a large Barnie’s blend coffee. Since I was purchasing a large amount of donuts, I wasn’t charged for the coffee. In fact, I was given a 20% discount on the donuts since I purchased so many. These donuts brought me back to my childhood. Much better than the local Publix or Dunkin Donuts. My three kids love them as well. I will certainly return. /s/William E. Lewis Jr., Davie, Cooper City, Fort Lauderdale, Vero Beach, Florida.
