I love their sloppy joe sandwiches. My only complaint is their early closing time(5PM on Saturday and Monday, 3PM Sunday, 7PM other days.) Friendly staff, reasonable prices.

Fabulous food and outstanding service make this one of my favorite places for lunch. The daily specials and Take out Tuesday are great values.

Upon entrance everything was great, the store was well kept yet very welcoming. There is a wide array of options but I just stick with my usual whenever I enter delis and get a turkey BLT. The cashier took care of my order and was super polite. Once it was ready I went to sit and the sandwich itself was ok(heavy handed on the mayo, turkey tasted odd). Since I couldn’t finish I got up to get it wrapped up. This time another guy was taking care of me and while he was he asked a bunch of questions and mentioned he saw me walking by earlier. I typically don’t find that weird because I usually do the same thing, actually I’m sure anyone would so I wanted to think nothing of it… that was until he began to make me feel bit uncomfortable with the things he asked afterwards like where I lived, if I worked, when I worked, if I had a boyfriend, when I had school. I answered it all vaguely disclosing personal info because A. I was uncomfortable B. I knew he was WAY older than I am and that being I’m sure he knew that too. Once he was done he had my sandwich in his hands and when I went to grab it he stepped back also holding my food further back and looked at me down then up with just the creepiest smile and said«you look so good.» He leaned in and gave me his name which is blurred now, but I would like to say it was Omar and said he looks forward to seeing me soon with his coworkers giggling in the back. Never again. Never ever again. Two stars really only go to the cashier and the store itself.

This place has gone really downhill over the past 5 years or so. I grew up eating and loving their food. You can tell they are cutting corners now. The chicken they use for grilled chicken in their salads is partially processed and looks the chicken breast filets that come frozen in a bag from the supermarket. The only thing that gives them two stars and not one is that they can still make a mean italian sub. For anything else, go somewhere that uses better ingredients.

This place sits in a unique location, positivitea and a couple great pizzerias surround it. I came in and it was empty. Its your average deli with seating, deceivingly quite spacious though. Save one woman enjoying her sandwich and a lady standing in front of me waiting for her order, the place was empty. I ordered a tuna melt with pepper jack cheese instead of American, all on rye bread. The gentleman behind the counter taking my order didn’t ask if I wanted any condiments. Nothing. The lady who answered my questions for him(standing behind the counter, a couple feet away from the gentleman) looked like she hated life and responded to me with what felt like a hint of annoyance or contempt. It took forever for them to get my sandwich to me, because it was in the oven I guess, that would have been the only reason why it would take so long in an empty deli. When I received it though, it was the saddest sandwich I had ever seen(check photo). I grimaced, and began to eat it. For $ 9+, I got no condiments, just two pieces of bread, tuna, and a couple slices of pepper jack cheese. For nine plus dollars… Never again. Oh sorry, there were two wee pickles they gave me. Sigh. After several bites, I was convinced it was one of the better tuna melts I’ve had in a long time. Overall experience here was eh. I came here once, suspect there are better delis in the area.

No mortadella and 5 guys working and still a 15min wait for turkey sandwiches gives this place a 3 of 5 stars. Good quality food and we did not leave hungry. Close to the best park in the State of NJ.

Very solid NJ deli. No frills, but well done. Love their whole wheat sub rolls… something that’s a rare find. I will say, service is pretty slow, so don’t go in a rush.

Subs are good, they are busy, food moves quickly so it is fresh. They really need to work on the tuna… not good at all.

This is the sub sandwich that all others are compared to. They freshly mix their tuna and slice the meat and cheese and pickles to order. The bread is crunchy but yet soft enough to sop up the oil and vinegar. They cut the cheese so thin it melts into the sandwich. The lettuce is shredded. It’s just, perfection. And quality and consistency, even after a forced remodel, is the hallmark of this place. #5 has tasted the exact same for 23 years. I don’t know why anyone would open or order from a chain restaurant when this glorious shrine to tasty subs exists in the world. Oh and it’s absolutely reasonably priced.

We loved this place, until one day I was waiting for my take out Tuesday order… A worker was obv working hard and sweating he then picked up the rag where the cutting board(also rag to wipe off the knives) is and wiped his sweat, places the towel back down. walked away. This is very unsanitary! I couldn’t believe my eyes! After I ranted and raved about this place. To see this is very gross. I will never come back here again.

This is a great little deli with fresh sandwiches and what seems to be a lot of choices: from hot sandwiches, to pressed paninis, to cold subs and sandwiches, to cold salads. I stopped in for a quick bite and went with a grilled chicken sandwich on a deli roll with lettuce and some balsamic dressing. Quick service, good prices and a fresh sandwich… I was completely happy with my visit. The bf went for a «small» hot ham and provolone sub. which was actually quite large, so that was awesome. Would absolutely return!

Half of a #7, Cape Cod Chips, and an Iced Tea; Never Fails! Worth every penny. These are definitely the best sandwiches in Verona. ALWAYS consistent! My sandwich is the same every time. I have never had a bad experience while eating there, and they cater a lot of events around town. They produce the same great quality every time. Worth coming to Verona for. Parking in the back is convenient.

Food is pretty good and tastes home made. I’ve eaten here three times and had the special each time. The lunch special of the day is only $ 5.00 and it is a big portion. Once I had the meatloaf lunch special which was a huge portion of mashed potatoes and gravy with a huge slice of meatloaf with BBQ sauce baked ontop. The other $ 5.00 special was the meatball sandwich which I will be going back for more. The price of the breakfast menu was a little pricey but worth it.

After getting pastrami sandwiches and sloppy joes from the Montclair area, it’s great to finally go to a place that actually does pile on the meat. They don’t even advertise it. They just do it. The sloppy joe could have used a smidge more dressing to pep it up a little. I guess I can’t complain too much since you get a mouthful of corned beef and pastrami. They were also nice enough to give me fries even though they didn’t charge me. There was a mixup somewhere in the ordering process. Overall a good solid deli, with good sized servings and exceptional service.

Great local deli — for fresh, tasty sandwiches at reasonable prices. Sloppy Joe’s are awesome and enough to share. Friendly staff and clean, comfortable booths. Consistently worth the trip.

Beware! If you have something delivered they charge you a $ 3.00 delivery charge. I was not told when I called and asked if they deliver. I tipped the young man another $ 3.00. They said it goes toward the delivery guys pay. All said and done they do make very good sloppy joes and sandwiches.

This is one of the best places to go in the area for a simple(sandwich, fries and soda) and reasonably priced lunch! The ingredients are good, the folks friendly and locals seem to like to hang there. I haven’t tried their hot meals yet. [Pus, the Town Scoop is just around the corner for dessert!]

My order was almost 2 hours late, and it was not correct. I have to say the egg salad is delicious i can’t see where this place is better than any other sandwich shop i have seen. also it would be cheaper to get catering from espositos and i believe the food is alot better there.

Along with their Catering business Eight Hills, Jimmy and Jack make excellent quality products ranging from the Sloppy Joe to their BLT. The bacon they use on their sandwiches isn’t laying around all day, it’s cooked fresh for every order. Fiore’s in Hoboken, White House in Atlantic City, DeFontes in Red Hook Brooklyn are amongst the best subs I’ve ever had hands down, Lakeside though not in their league is certainly one of the better places in North Jersey.

Great sloppy Joe. No, not that chili-on-a-bun thing, a classic sloppy Joe with deli meats, Cole slaw, and Russian dressing.
