I was visiting from out of town and went here for lunch. we had good service and good food. I ordered the soup special(rice and beans), it was delicious!!! I would go again.

Ordered 10 entrees to pick up. An 18% gratuity was AUTOMATICALLY added to the bill. When I inquired as to the automatic tip, the bartender said«oh yeah, sorry by we add a tip if it’s more than 6 people.» Will NEVER go back.

I would have given this place 3.75 stars if possible. The décor and menu are pretty basic. The price range was good and they offer a variety of food options.

I’ve eaten here twice in the last month, and the experience was awesome! The loaded potato soup is to die for, and you will not be disappointed with the small ribeye steak! It was done perfectly and so very tender! Our server was very attentive and polite. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a nice atmosphere, great food, and good service.

The service is great, the server was very sweet and attentive the whole time. However the food was subpar at best. I could not even finish my Chicken New Orleans meal. No flavor at all. I was disappointed after such great recommendations from friends and family.

It gets a 4 for being in vidalia. Amazing seared tuna… Like really amazing. Soup was really good as well. You can tell you’re in the south and get black eyed pea and collard greens soup. With bacon, so you know it was good. Over a nice cold IPA… Made my outta town work night much better.

I would never visit this place again. We had a large group on a weeknight. The service and food were horrible. The waitress was obviously disgruntled and very rude. Overpriced for cold, burnt shrimp which took and hour to get.

I’ve been a few times but never have been impressed. The food is so-so. I have yet to find anything that is really good other then the potato soup. The service is always lacking in one way or another when I go. There isn’t a lot of options around it would be nice if they could revamp and work out some issues. Nothing real bad there but nothing real good either…

The décor at the Steeplechase Grille and Tavern is appropriate for the name. The booths are adorned with green vinyl, fabric backs and stone separating the diners. Too often the décor falls far short of the name. The menu has many selections, almost too many, but they give you a «daily specials» menu which narrows choices down nicely. I chose the«Quesadilla Explosion», which was similar to the southwest salad made famous by Wendy’s, but much better. Debbie chose the«Jerk Chicken Spinach Salad» and said she liked it. So the entries were good; however, the desserts were out of this world! I had the«Chocolate Chip Cookie Pie» and my wife had the«Key Lime Pie». Both of us agreed these deserts were the highlight of the meal. The driving rock music playing loudly in the background was not consistent with a British-themed fine dining experience, but otherwise it was very much worth the money.

Service was excellent but the food was not. My NY strip steak was really fatty and incredibly tough, albeit well-seasoned. Baked potato was fine, nothing special, and the salad bar was good. Decent place for a town with not many spots, but nothing spectacular.

Great service and very good food. I had the Ribeye and it was a good cut, cooked to my request. If ever I find myself again in Vidalia, it will be a return stop indeed. Oh, and don’t forget the apple tart… wow.

Sesame shrimp was really good and flavorfull! Complimentary bread was nice, fries were ok and ranch sauce was ok. I liked the baked potato soup but it was a tad peppery, and you couldn’t see this because they use white pepper. A little pricey for lunch but different and good!

Not sure where to start, slow to seat and serve. Was almost done when we had to try and find our waitress to have drinks refilled. Waitress was super ditzy, she did not know her products and spilled a drink on 2 people in our group. Did not apologize and acted like it was not her fault? Seemed like she was too busy visiting with the locals at other tables. Club sandwich had bacon bits instead of sliced bacon and onion rings were way over cooked. Not the best place in Vidalia! Very mediocre and lacks in professionalism. This was my second visit — will not be going back!

We go here pretty often. It can be hard to find a place to park, so be prepared. The food is sometimes a little overpriced(depends on what you order), but it’s generally worth it. The selection is good and the portions decent. The free bread is my favorite part. :) Also like the fried mushrooms, and the salads don’t disappoint. Husband loves the Steeplechase Chicken. The salad bar could use a little more variety.

I have eaten here three times and won’t be coming back. Food is average and high priced compared to other restaurants in Vidalia. The Service is awful! takes a long time to get waited on and recieve food, drinks were not refilled last 2 times i was there.

With limited options in Vidalia, GA, I am thankful for a decent meal here. The parking lot on a Tuesday night was nearly full, so at least the locals value this quaint establishment. My ribs were tender and juicy, though they were probably braised so a distinctive BBQ flavor was lacking. My green beans were southern style(i.e.cooked until VERY tender and heavily buttered), something I’ve grown to like over time. The onion rings could have used a higher onion to batter /coating ratio, but hey, I almost finished them so they couldn’t have been all that bad. Service was cordial and competent, although maybe just a hair on the slow side. Hey man, this is deep south Georgia. Time to relax and enjoy a slower pace. ;) Bottom line, I’ll come back here. I’ll need to try some other things before bumping Steeplechase up to 4 stars. For now, I consider it a place worth looking into further.

Steeplechase reminds me of one of those 70’s steak houses that we enjoyed so much. A bit dated, but good food, a good salad bar, and friendly service. Great place for a regular dinner out, but there are other options for a special night out.

This is a locally owned restaurant, which is reason enough for us to want to write about it. It’s an attractive establishment serving good food, though nothing extraordinary, in the couple of times we have visited. But if you happen to wind up in Vidalia, you’ll find this a dependable dining choice for an evening meal. The menu encompasses a large selection. Whether you’re in a mood for steaks, seafood, chicken, soups, salads or whatever, they seem to haver it covered here. We’ve eaten many of the dishes and don’t have any favorites though we lean toward the various chicken and fish dishes. As with too many restaurants, the kitchen tends top slightly overcook food; both chicken and fish would benefit from a lighter hand. That said, the vegetables have been well prepared, and the bread comes hot. We’ve heard the steaks are good, but we’re not much into red meat, so you’re on your own. Don’t mean to sound too lukewarm, but we haven’t found anything that really stands out here. By the way, there is a bar attached to the restaurant, so you can enjoy some alcoholic beverages, which is not always the case in many rural Georgia diners. If Unilocal allowed half-stars, we’ve give Steeplechase two and a half rating. It’s a pleasant but hardly memorable dining experience.
