Their fresh baked good are great and so are their sandwiches. I have enjoyed everything I’ve had here. Panini’s are kinda small but they taste really good.

We used to have good experiences with Cenan and we like their mango cake. However, today I went to get a birthday fruit cake for my husband’s birthday. The cake is not fresh, the crushed nuts around the cake are completely soft, whipped cream and fruit are not fresh at all. Pretty disappointing today. Hope this bakery will hold up the quality for the price way pay.

I hope the owner reads this. Have ordered Cenan cakes for years which are very good. but their cookies are another story. All the cookies have a weird flavor which my family and friends have noticed as well. Not sure if its the flour, butter or oil they use but they really need to change up the cookie recipe so the aftertaste goes away. Addicted to chocolate chip cookies and simply can’t eat their cookies at all. A good bakery should have a decent cookie at least…

Most horrible customer service ever. Guy answered the phone in the most horrible tone. Went in to place a order cause he said he couldn’t take it over the phone .he called me STUPID and was still horribly rude which made me decide to never buy a cake from here. A cake is usually made to order for a birthday, anniversary, baby shower… all happy occasions where someone is excited and happy. Customer service like this can ruin the whole entire vibe of wanting to throw a party. Not to mention you can hardly understand this guy. there is no reason to act like a jerk for NOREASON or if someone is asking you a simple question on how a certain cake is etc.

I gave 2* for the customer service was provided on Sunday 12⁄20. We came in to order a birthday cake and get some slices to go. Normally there were different girls working there and they were nice. However yesterday it was a young Asian guy(Chinese?) and he was talking to us as if he didn’t care or need the business. When we asked for the Xmas hours, he told us they would close at 8pm on the Eve and Xmas day. Then we ordered the cake to pick up on the Eve. He asked us what time we would pick up and we were like yes we picked up on the Eve before the store is closed. He didn’t explain why they needed the pick up time but kept asking«yeah but when do you pick up?» in a «not rude but not nice» tone. Then we ordered about 6 slices of different cakes to go. He put 5 of them into different boxes and forgot 1. So he went back to get the last slice to give us. Instead of saying sorry or so, he took out the slice from the fridge, didn’t ask if we wanted the same or separate box, just told us to open the box we were holding so he could put the cake in. I thought it would be his job to take care of these details instead of we as a customer have to do it. We wouldn’t mind helping him if he had asked us in a nicer tone and friendly treatment. We come in to buy your products to help you run business, so we do expect to receive a nice return. We don’t ask you to provide us a free ride. So please respect your customers!

A few months ago, I walked into Cenan’s to buy a cake to celebrate my mom’s birthday. Unilocal reviewers were raving about the mango mousse cake, so I ordered one and brought it home. I loved it, as did my folks. Will be getting another over the holidays!

I’m shocked to see such good reviews for this bakery! I tried it thanks to Unilocal reviews, it was the closest and highest rated bakery in my vicinity while driving home the other day and I figured why not? When I walked in it was very dark and two men were there. No one greeted me. That’s got to be one of my biggest pet peeves — lack of customer service. Ugh. Anyways, I ordered a slice of the mixed fruit cheesecake, a cream cheese croissant, a savory feta cheese/filo dough pastry, and a slice of carrot cake. Homeboy behind the counter then begins to put an ENTIRE carrot cake in a box for me. So I begin to stop him and tell him I wanted just a slice and he became so frustrated with me! He continued to put the cake in the box then just dropped it down on to the counter in a huff. Relax, brother man. Then he tells me he can only give me the whole cake. No thanks. They have Turkish coffee and tea there so I picked that up too. Turns out those were my only good buys! The cheesecake was too airy– I prefer a creamy cheesecake. It also tasted stale and refrigerated — you know that taste I’m talking about when your food literally tastes like the smell of a refrigerator! The croissant was just okay. And the feta pastry was okay once I smeared some Greek yogurt on it. One and done, won’t be back.

Even though it looks like a tiny store and there is no well decorated inside, there cake, bread and small desserts are delicious! Not too sweet, which is very important, but with very nature and simple flavor. They only have 8 inch cake, so if you want to get 6 inch, you have to order in advance.

I love this place… the food anyway. I’ve been going here since I moved to Virginia 3 years ago and I love love love their cakes, breads, and pastries. Their little grocery area is cute as well, and their coffee is good. It actually pains me to love this place so much because every.single.person. who works in this building is incredibly rude. Everyone I have encountered in this building had been short, rude, and even condescending. I actually had an emolyee tell me «you muat have a lot of boyfriends you pretend to bake for». Who says that? Why say that anyway? That aside they are the least accommodating people ever! Can you make this cake without nuts if I special order it? No. Can I preorder large batches of items that aren’t specific to the catering menu? No. Can you bag the muffins and the scones separately? No. Their baked goods are wonderful, but don’t ask for anything special and put your big girl panties on because you may be told you have a lot of boyfriends.

This bakery has been on my list to check out in the Vienna area along with Café Amouri. They have a great selection of cakes. Large party size and individual ones. It is also a mini grocery where they European goods and sweets. I saw Turkish delights and got very excited! I got a mango cake while my friend got double chocolate. Love the mango. It tasted like mango, always good, and the cake batter was smooth and not dry. definitely a good local Vienna spot and coming back here for more cake to eat there and to take home.

I had a chance to try the carrot cake from Cenan’s this week and was blown away by how delicious it was — definitely the best carrot cake I’ve ever had… I loved it and I don’t even like carrot cake. Everyone at work who tried the cake agreed as well that it was extremely delicious, and the cake was gone pretty immediately! Will definitely visit here to try some of the other pastries they offer.

Love this bakery. Almost every cake that my family has had as long as I can remember has been from Cenan’s. My personal favorite is the Mixed Fruit cake. I’ve never had a cake so light tasting but so full of flavor and delicious. It’s one of those cakes where you don’t feel full after eating just one slice(ex. their chocolate mousse cake even though it’s so good). Also I love how they have their cakes by piece for immediate purchase– my sister and I ended up by $ 20 dollars of individual cakes/tarts by «accident». The smaller pieces are pricey though– I think they are $ 4.50+ a piece. Note: The chocolate writing on cakes is extra but I personally do not think it’s worth it because for the last two times I have purchased and picked up the cakes myself the handwriting was really sloppy.

I love mango mousse cakes and I will always buy it from here as long as they keep it so fresh and delicious. When I eat the cake, I imagine that it is fat free so i feel less guilty. One of my friends recommended this place and i am happy that I tried it. I have not tried any other cakes, if you love mango this is the place. I would recommend everyone to try this place at least once, I believe you will not be disappointed. Pricing is reasonable considering the quality of the cake and everyone is very helpful and polite.

Cute, small, not commercial bakery. Everything we purchased was fantastic! Customer service was good, but nothing to rave about. We Let them know we found them on Unilocal and that they had a high star rating. The employees, acted like they didn’t care, but I thought the owner should know. We would go back for more yummies!

I really love their cakes here. I used to buy cakes from Shilla for family birthdays but recently, I’ve been buying here since their cakes are extremely tasty but not overly sweet, which is perfect for my asian family who is not a fan of really sweet American cakes. The tiramisu, mango mousse, and the black currant mousse cake are amazing! My only gripe is that when I tried to make a phone order, the man on the phone was extremely rude and refused to accept my credit card over the phone. I’ve never had any trouble ordering cakes over the phone. He goes ‘no credit card over phone, come in store. I cannot make cake without money’.I’ve seriously never encountered that before. Needless to say, I will keep coming back b/c the cakes are amazing. Apparently, they charge $ 2 for writing on cake. I was charged today but not the other few times I’ve been in.

Great selection of items. The service is very friendly, but the items are okay. It’s nothing extravagant or mouthwatering. Some of it seems kind of generic like factory made. Overall average bakery.

Wow. What a fruit cake. White fruit cake is awesome. Made exactly to Turkish bakery standards with fresh fruits and rich genuine cream, it is probably the best cake I have eaten in the US. Being a big fan of Italian and French cakes, their Turkish fruit cake stands out among all the others… Must try to decide.

The product here is absolutely wonderful, hands down the best cakes I’ve ever bought. The customer service however was the worst I have ever received, and on Christmas Eve at that. The man, who I assume is the owner, yelled at me for not having the receipt to pick up the cake we ordered and threw a veritable fit. I understand the business must have been incredibly busy on Christmas Eve however, given that I was able to provide the necessary information, his attitude, behavior, and demeanor were completely out of line and uncalled for. I will not be coming back here again.

I have lived in the Vienna area all my life and have heard the stories, but have only had Cenan’s once, and never anything from their bakery. That changed last night and I am now a true fan! The salad I tried many years ago was very good, but nothing compared to the deliciousness that we experienced with their chocolate strawberry mousse cake. I walked in 30 minutes before closing just HOPING they had some birthday cakes. To my delight there was an assortment of cakes to the far right of the bakery and all of them looked very delicious. The chocolate strawberry jumped out at me and we were not disappointed. The price was not too bad and well worth it for the cake. The employees were nice and for a small extra fee I got a chocolate piece with a happy birthday note. The bakery has birthday candles right at the register which is just great, and looking around I saw a wide variety of foods, snacks, beverages, and more. I will be back to try the mango cake along with the other delicious treats I saw in the window!

I picked up a Cenan’s cookie(coconut and chocolate) and apple danish to bring with me on my flight back to Chicago. I(shamelessly and obnoxiously) asked the flight attendant to brew me a fresh pot of coffee and ate my baked good next to a cute little old lady who looked sad that I wasn’t offering to share. I won’t be making a trip back to Virginia specifically for this, but it got through security, kept me from getting hangry, and definitely beats a $ 8 snack box on the plane.

I STILLLOVEALLOFTHEBAKEDGOODS. It legitimately hurts me to write this review. I was holding off for so long. I have ordered 4 + cakes from Cenan’s just from THIS year. My moms birthday, brothers birthday, sisters birthday, etc. It’s only May. I usually get cakes for get togethers and other occasions from Cenan’s. I go out of my way for the cakes here. This bakery is NOT close to me. It use to be just 2⁄3 miles from my old job in Tysons, but now I am working out in Crystal City, and I still make the drive out here to order cakes in person, and then again to pick them up. Mostly I am going to MD. I am just trying to show, this is NOT a convenience thing. So, why have I reconsidered this place? The service. The service is horrendous. Even on a random weekday I have waited around for someone to appear and take my cake order. They charge to write happy birthday on the cakes. I get it, you use a huge chocolate slab and write the message on the cakes. Even the ghetto«Happy Birthday» writing(on pic of the fruit cake i uploaded) is the same upcharge. Honestly I could care less about that upcharge, because the cakes are so freaking GOOD. BUT its warning for people who are ordering cakes. I’ve dealt with the horrible service in the mornings. How the staff can be rude standing around and chatting away with other customers, while I patiently wait before going to work. The mean, snarky comments when I just SIMPLY ask what a specific dessert in the case was. Basically, all the small service issues started to add up. The last time I came was the straw that finally broke the camels back. I got a bunch of small cakes and other desserts. The guy checking me out was SORUDE. I asked him what two types of cakes were, and he acted like I was an idiot. He sighed every time I started to speak. I ordered all 5 desserts at once, and since he wasn’t really listening, got a very large box instead. When I finished ordering them again, he goes«THAT’S IT?!». WHYYES. I DIDTELLYOUTHISBEFORE you decided to get the incorrect sized box. Then he felt the need to slam the box cover down, and shoved the box towards me RUINING the desserts inside the box. YES, I checked right when I got into the car, and all the desserts were knocked over. My boyfriend was driving, or I would have marched right back in to complain at that point. He is really super nice, but even he mentioned he thought the guy was BIGTIMERUDE. TL;DR: THEPEOPLEWHOWORKHEREARERUDE. I come here WAY to much, and far out of my way for me to want to deal with this. I really can’t deal with the staff anymore. I realllllllly LOVE the cakes, but unfortunately I am venturing on to other places for the next few birthdays/events.
