Steak ‘n Shake

Management changes needed?!!
Seating was disorganized and slow. No sense of urgency with several families waiting.
Some seated themselves. Frustrating.
Food was good.
Turnaround time Much Slower than expected.
Second similar experience for us in recent months

This place is amazing. Their burgers and shakes are amazing. They have so many different flavors of shakes that all look amazing. I have only been there twice. They have been very busy both times, but the service has been great and we have gotten out good in a timely manner.

The food here is definitely a step up from McDonald’s, but the service. Wow. More than once I’ve been in the drive thru and left before even ordering my food because of how long it was taking. I seriously do not know why it takes them so long, but it’s ridiculous.

The staff was friendly and burgers was great, but the fries were cold and bland. My kids enjoyed their milkshake and the mini corn dogs. My wife enjoyed her royale burger, but the only time we will be back is just for a milkshake. Only giving it 3stars for the size of the burgers and the cold fries

If you want to see a drive-​through employee on a power trip, then this is the place for you. On a recent trip to this establishment I had an issue with the service in the drive-​through. Two different people were attempting to take my order. When I arrived at the window, they had the wrong order. I wasn’t that upset because it’s not the end of the world. However, I must have been wrong because one of the two women working the drive-​through approached the window and started scolding me as if I had kicked her puppy. I had paid with a card. There was a difference in the cost. She refunded me the original purchase with cash. It was than a quarter difference. As I was born after 1980 I don’t carry any type of cash. When I explained that I did not have any cash on me she decided to handle the situation by being condescending. I finally told her just to give me my money back.
The food is awful, the menu is generic, and the place as a whole is basic.

The food was great! The service was a little slow, but it makes sense, because usually they’re packed. Also, I was impressed by how good the honey mustard was with the chicken tenders. Usually I’m picky about the taste, but it was delicious!

Service was absolutely horrible. Food was good. Gal seating everyone looked like she hated life. I’ve never seen such a lethargic group of people.

I have eaten here once and this will probably be the last. Our dinners were cold. My shooters were cold (buns chilled not grilled, cheese wouldn’t even melt), hubby’s chicken sandwich was lukewarm, and there were still frozen fries on my daughter’s plate. We got my meal comp’d and a free dessert, so I can’t complain much, But kinda disappointing when I generally like Steak and Shake a lot. Maybe a fluke? I don’t know.

We’ve always heard good things about Steak ‘n Shake and since it was Roger Ebert’s favorite restaurant (RIP), T really wanted to check it out on our next visit to WV. We got that chance this weekend. A far cry from standard fast food fare, Steak ‘n Shake offers tons of burger options (grilled portobello ‘n swiss, I’m coming for you next) plus milkshakes.
I started off with the chocolate shake. It was pretty good, not the best chocolate shake I’ve ever had but certainly not the worst. It was huge and certainly enough for sharing. There were some shake options on the menu that included a squirt of hot fudge on top. I think I’ll get one of those next time to get optimum chocolatosity. (It’s a word!)
My MIL got the chicken fingers, my FIL got the taco salad, and T and I opted for burgers. Our first round was stone cold. (The restaurant was FREEZING so they may not have even sat around for long.) We asked for new ones and the waitress and management could not have been nicer. Totally apologetic, they fired up two new burgers for us instantly and we got our piping hot food less than five minutes later. They also comped us the two burgers (which was completely unnecessary since they fixed the error) but it was very much appreciated. The service truly couldn’t be beat. They wanted nothing more than for us to be pleased with our experience and that really means a lot.
However, the burger was just so so. They’re cooked on a flat top so it had some great crunch but I think I prefer good old fashioned hamburgers over steak burgers. I got a single and a word of advice? Get the double. The single was actually so thin it was too little meat for the burger. Indulge. Get the double. Fries were so-​so. Nothing special but they were hot and plentiful. This place was also cheap which was awesome. Go here instead of McDonalds! (They have a drive-​thru too!)

Outstanding! Best burger I’ve had since moving to WV 13yrs. ago! If they stay at this level of quality & service the other fast food places should re-​evaluate everything they are doing wrong…(poor food, terrible service etc etc.) Keep it up Steak n’ Shake!

Restaurant was clean and we were seated in less than 10 minutes. It’s crowded at peak times but the food is good.
First impression: The restaurant is fairly new and it is neat and clean. The waitress we got was very friendly and made the dining experience pleasant. Drinks and food came back in fast time.
Now the food. The Burgers were delicious and made-​to-​order. The fries are crispy and shoe-​string style. The milkshakes were rich and tasty.
It’s probably the best place to get a quick bite if you are visiting the Vienna Mall. The food court and nearby restaurants are lacking choice and taste.
