Japanese lasagna roll: I call it the pizza roll. When they make a nice sushi, put some mayo action on top and send it to the oven to come out like a nice pizza. It was crunchy too. Hell yea. So authentic, lol. Bagel roll: wasn’t quite like NYC lox bagels but it was yummy Vienna roll: I liked this roll a lot. Has some different flavor a from the black sesame sauce Sushi yoshi roll: just realized I’m still allergic to crab. Oh Shiz. It was good though

Sashimi ain’t nuttin ta fuck wit, unless it’s from here then DOIT. I’ve held off on writing reviews for this place because I don’t want to contribute to other yuppies knowing about this gem. I used to be able to walk in here on a week night and get a table but NOOOOOO, this past time I had to settle for a lesser sushi place down Maple Ave. I’m a bad Asian that doesn’t like rice, so I stay away from Chirashi. If I excel in math, have questionable driving skills, and like rice, I would totally get the Chirashi because the fish and veggie toppings look awesome! Instead, I get the Sashimi every time without fail and tell them to hold the complimentary bowl o’ rice. The grilled salmon jaw is also amazing with lemon drizzled on top(the grounded up radish on the side is so tasty), so learn to pick through the bones and get it! What better place to write about for my 100th review than my favorite Japanese restaurant evarrr(Sorry, Tachibana)!!! To celebrate, I’m canceling my weekend plans and coming here.

been coming here for years now and I’ve never been disappointed. The fish and the portions are very good for the price. Their sushi lunch is a steal. You get seven pieces of nigiri sushi and your choice of a California roll or a spicy tuna roll. I always go with the latter. My only qualm with this place is the lack of room and always having to make a reservation. If you go for happy hour I’m sure you can get in without a reservation.

Stopped by for a quick light meal on our way to Jammin Java for a concert. We really lucked out on seating, as this restaurant is packed on Friday nights, but we were willing to take the table right beside the front door when it freed up. Staff was receptive to our need for quick turnaround of selections and brought out items as soon as prepared. We began with a flavorful miso soup, followed by their tempura vegetable and shrimp appetizer, and then their Tim Tim Roll as our entrée. The Tim Tim Roll is Spicy baby shrimp and tempura crunchy wrapped in white tuna and avocado served with spicy sauce. Delicious! One of the best rolls we have had as we continue our Friday night sampling of the Sushi restaurants in the NoVa area. We will be back, having made reservations, and when we are not in a hurry.

Came here twice. Once for lunch and once for dinner. Lunch was definitely 5⁄5. As others have stated, you get a whole lot for $ 13(as seen in my picture). Way fresher than anything else I had in the Tysons Corner area. Dinner was obviously more expensive than dinner but I don’t remember what I ate because it was over a year ago so I don’t know why I’m even wasting space here… I always have a good experience and it’s reasonably priced. The space is small so make sure to call ahead or you’ll be waiting if it’s a weekend or the lunch rush. Recommended for sure.

My friends & I came here on a Saturday for a lunch. It was super busy & people were still coming to get a table. I ordered the Sushi Lunch and it was absolutely fantastic! It was so fresh and delicious. One thing that I truly appreciated was that the sashimi wasn’t overpacked with rice. I’ve been to other sushi restaurants that gave probably too much rice & too little raw fish placed on top. So I definitely loved Sushi Yoshi’s portions. The only downside was that the restaurant itself is fairly small. But after we got seated, it was hard to notice the hustle & bustle.

My favorite Chirashi. It is one of those dishes that you crave if you have not had it in a while. My only complaint is that it is hard to get a seat for lunch as they are very crowded.

this is DEFBESTSUSHI in THEVABURBS… my favorite before this was Yoko Sushi, which is close by in Oakton, and while they are still really good, this place edged out Yoko. Kumo in Herndon doesn’t compare,…and they are good. First, its a bit hard to find, in a random part of old Vienna, on the backside of a commercial building that used to be a home maybe 100 years ago? I don’t know but I came here at the recommendation of a coworker who used to live in NYC for many years and was a big sushi snob up there. He said it is the best place he’s been to outside of NYC, here in the DC area… so i had to go! Very authentic Japanese and sushi bar. I imagine even more so, because aside from me and my colleague, every other person in there was Japanese or Asian. Staff was really nice and tended to us well. Their green tea was REALLY good too, and they keep your cup full. I had about 6 different kinds of half rolls and I like that they sell half rolls so you can try a lot of different things. Honestly won’t even make a recommendation on a particular one, because of of them were of exemplary quality,…so just pick the flavors you like best(whichever fish, tempera, cucumbers, etc) and I’m sure you’ll love it as much as me. We also ordered the veggie egg rolls to start, they were so good and beautiful presentation! Will be back this place is bookmarked!

BESTSUSHIPLACEINDMVAREA. Get the chirashi. Never have I seen this entrée this cheap for how much you get. On top of that, the fish tastes pretty fresh and you can hardly find a place that provides white tuna as part of the chirashi entrée. Go here now! Though you probably need to make a reservation first!

I have been coming here since they have opened and the most recent experience was not good at all. The first time I’ve been which was years ago was great. Every subsequent visit after was always lower in quality. This time they hit rock bottom. I sat at the bar with my friend because we like to observe the sushi chefs. I noticed that the display cases that contained the sushi were always left open constantly. The cases did not look cold at all. The miso soup and the salad came out like usual. What was unusual though was that the salad was warm. It seemed like the vegetables(lettuce) for the salad were probably sitting out at room temperature for a while. It wasn’t that big of a deal, just didn’t provide a good mouth feel. I would have preferred crisp cool lettuce. I ordered a few oieces of uni and Toro. Omg… It was awful. The uni was runny, wet, slimy, and old looking. Normally you can see each individual egg, but this was covered in a slime. This is not how fresh uni should look. I ate a tiny tiny corner of it and it was pretty much room temperature and tatsed fishy and not fresh at all. I did not eat the rest. The Toro had a slimy look as well, but not as gross looking as the uni. It was also served at room temperature and tatsed fishy, again not fresh tasting. Toro should be served cold, as should most sushi, but the fatter the sushi is it needs to be colder. I ate 2 of the 3 pieces. We ordered 2 rolls and they tatsed fine, but I suspect it’s because the fish is mixed with many other ingredients so you would not be able to tell the quality of the fish that well. There was a table of 6 people behind us and they returned their sushi(not the rolls) as well. They told the waitress that the sushi did not taste fresh and seemed old. They were speaking Korean(I understand Korea) to each other and they were pretty astonished that they served such bad sushi. They were pretty flabbergasted that they would even try to serve sushi that was so terrible. My friend and I totally agree. Total waste of money. I am shocked they serve that kind of sushi. I have been to sushi buffets that had better fish. I will add pics of the United and toro if I can.

This place is very very small. Seats maybe 20 ppl. I recommend you make reservations. About 6 parking stalls in the back and street parking is available. For NOVA my wife gave this place 5 stars and she is from Japan. I’ll admit I was not really impressed with the katsu but I’m from Hawaii and no one does katsu like Hawaii. Both our we’re about $ 15– a piece, which is cheap by our standards for a quality Japanese lunch. We will definitely be back.

Hands down the best sushi I’ve ever had. Came here last night for my sister in laws birthday with the family. We ordered a lot of different dishes but my favorite was the spicy tuna salad and the wasabi crêpe! Everything tastes good though! The owner was very attentive and present around the restaurant, he even gave my sister in law a little gift which was like a tea cup with all the different types of sushi on it! They have limited seating indoors but also has a few seating outdoors which is cute! Will definitely come back.

OHMYGOD. The best sushi restaurant I’ve been to! I was so impressed by the texture of sushi and arrangements of the chirashi dish! I fell in love with this place. The chirashi dish has a lot to offer. It gives you a plate of fresh sushi without rice and a bowl of mixed rice and other ingredients. The price is also very affordable. Very worth for the food! Service, however, wasn’t very fast because they’re way too busy. I would definitely come back and recommend this restaurant with a 5+ stars!

This is my 600th review, so I wanted to do it right with a Unilocal favorite like Sushi Yoshi. The first thing that I have to say, foodies, is believe the hype, because every glowing word of it is true. I know what you’re thinking, another Unilocal lemming following the mob over the approval cliff, but I assure you when I say that Sushi Yoshi offers some of the best sushi in town, I’m singing the sushi gospel. First, the service was flawless. We arrived right at the height of the Friday dinner rush, and it looked as if there would be a wait; however, our waitress/hostess soon found us a seat out on the patio. The rest of the evening it was almost as if she could read our minds(ok, not so hard to do in my case… more sushi! please.) She was quick and efficient and didn’t approach me once while I had half a dragon role in my mouth. Second, the food was fantastic. We ordered a two rolls(Dragon Roll and California Roll), two specially salads(conch and squid), four pieces of uni with quail egg, several pieces of fatty tuna, and wine and beer. Every bite of this sushi feast was fresh and delicious, but I was really captivated by the quality and presentation of my uni(sea urchin), for the chief had nestled the quail egg on top in a protective avocado retaining wall. The result was a a piece of uni where you didn’t have to worry about losing your egg. And it was oh so creamy and delicious that it could only be matched my our selection of fatty tuna, something so decadent that it virtually melted in the mouth… Sushi Heaven! Finally, the sushi hat trick, the price. Yes, foodies, we had a ton of food and rinks and our totally bill for two avid sushi lovers still came to just $ 92. We quickly calculated that the same would cost us at least 30% in Old Town Alexandria, so this place stands as the sushi mother lode. Eureka!!! Yup, we’ve struck sushi gold here, and I will certainly return for more sushi treasure in the near future.

This is a sushi place located in the suburbs. There is limited parking and you will have to find street parking. Do not enter here without a reservation. Let me repeat: do not just walk in here. Call and make a reservation. They will literally save you a table and will not give it away. We learned this the hard way. Even just calling ten to 20 min before arrival, and it will still be in your favor. The restaurant has outside and inside seating. There is also sushi bar seating. It is a fairly large restaurant but it is compacted with tables and people. It is always busy. The food was OK. The rolls were very fresh. I wasn’t super impressed overall with the flavors. The prices you cannot beat of course. I might try this place again but it definitely did not stand out in my mind. The service is probably worthy of four stars as well but it was so busy and packed, I couldn’t tell if they were serving us or trying to hurry us along!

We initially came here to check out their happy hour menu but soon realized it’s really not that happy of a deal. Rolls and sushi are pretty much same price as menu price except maybe a few cents cheaper. With that said, their food is still delicious and no wonder it has such great ratings! Me and my bf ordered a chirashi regular which was a huge portion! There is enough rice for three people and the rice itself was perfectly seasoned sushi rice — sweet, salty, and tangy. It was pretty addicting and I got so full from eating a bite of rice after a bite of fish! The fish from for the chirashi was a good size portion with about 16 – 18 pieces of tuna, salmon, salmon belly, yellowtail, mackerel, white tuna, scallop, sweet shrimp, and scallop. We also ordered the salmon skin roll which was uhmazing. I’m so picky about salmon skin because a lot of places don’t cook it right and it ends up tasting like charred fish scales. This place was tender with a nice crisp to it and wasn’t overly salmon-y. We did end up ordering a shrimp tempera and eel roll off the HH menu and it was just alright. Overall, we loved the meal and definitely reminded of why we like coming to sushi yoshi. Luckily we beat the after work rush because usually this place is packed and you definitely need a rsvp if you have a large party.

Portion alert!!! Am I hallucinating or the portions have shrunk??? Noticed it when we stopped by for lunch today, the uni sashimi was poorly plated and the saba portion was half of what I used to get. Nothing new on the menu. Same same same. They now have daily sushi/sashimi specials.

Sushi Yoshi is located at the corner of Church St and Center St. It’s encouraged to make a reservation as dining room area is tight and limited. Tonight, my parents and I had dinner at Sushi Yoshi as recommended by my coworkers. We felt like it was the most authentic Japanese cuisine we had. We enjoyed(almost) everything we ordered. Here are my recommendations: 1. Agedashi Tofu — five crispy fried tofu with various types of mushroom and seaweed in a sweet soy sauce. If you like tofu, I’d totally recommend this appetizer. 2. Sashimi Regular — fifteen high quality, freshly sliced pieces of assorted fish. 3. Chicken Teriyaki — diced dark meat chicken sauteed in sweet soy sauce, served with soy sauce soy beans and pickled radish, and garnished with a lime slice. It was tasty but we felt the portion size was really small(like an appetizer size). 4. Yellowtail & Green Onion Roll — six rolls consisting of yellowtail and rice, wrapped in seaweed, and topped with scallion. I felt that there wasn’t anything special about Center Street Roll which consisted of shrimp tempura and asparagus, wrapped in seaweed, and topped with red tuna and avocado. It would have tasted better if eel sauce was drizzled on topped of the roll.
