Tunay’s Tailoring and Alterations

Great work, very attentive and helpful. I recently brought in a suit for tailoring and purchased a new suit and coat from the store. I was very impressed with the help that Tunay gave me, that she discussed options with respect to the tailoring, listening to my preferences and planning accordingly. Overall, she did excellent work, I will be sure to visit again.

I don’t think this can be the same business that got such glowing reviews here and elsewhere on the internet a few years ago. I chose Tunay’s Tailoring based on reviews here and elsewhere to alter a lace dress that I purchased at a consignment shop. Based on those reviews, I was expecting to meet an older lady. Instead, the lady in the shop – which has weird hours now – looked to be in her mid– to late-​30s. I left the dress in her hands on August 12, and we set a pick-​up date of Sept. 7 (due to her vacation plans and my unpredictable work schedule). I went back on Sept. 10 and found the shop closed a good 20 minutes after it was due to open. I called back later the same day and asked if I could pick up the dress. «Which dress?» the lady asked. From her reaction, it was clear that she had forgotten all about it and hadn’t done anything to it since August 12. She told me she could have it ready by the following Tuesday, but once again, my schedule got in the way, and I couldn’t return to the shop until Saturday the 18^th. Again, when I arrived to pick up the dress, the lady took my claim ticket and went rummaging through the racks. «What color was the dress?» was the question this time. She emerged with the dress on the hanger I’d brought it in on, pins still where she had placed them over a month ago. Still the dress had not been touched. She’s given me a date of next Wednesday, now, and since I haven’t paid her yet, if it’s not done by then I will be reclaiming it and looking for another dressmaker. Judging by the size of the clothing piles in her workroom, I think she’s incredibly overworked, but to my mind, that’s still no reason for her to «remember» my dress two weeks ago and then forget about it again.
