Bagel Me!

Honestly, one star is too high. I am a long time, loyal customer that will not be returning. The order entry errors, lack of apology, rolling eyes, and smug looks are more than I can handle. This wasn’t the first time, but «Anna» without a doubt helped make it my last. I tolerated their behavior due to the ease of getting my family a decent meal and supporting the local merchants. I will now be patiently awaiting the new Dunkin’ Donuts, where I know ownership will make sure their employees treat the clientele with respect and any order entry errors will be remedied with a smile. Hate to see a small local business go, but Bye Bye Bagel Me… it is only a matter of time. Can’t say I did’t warn you, as myself and several loyal locals had tried their best to let management know. I just hope Dunkin’ knows better than to hire that «Anna.» Her rolling eyes and careless smirk are enough to make any good tippin’ loyal customer abandon your place for good. Coming soon…“Villa Park Runs On dunkin.”

Been here a couple times and tried a couple different bagels here and never had a complaint here.
Service is decent since sometimes is hard to understand some of the employees and have to correct orders.
Place is always clean and everything is in it’s place.
I will keep coming here in the future when in the area.
Oh the blended Chai Tea is amazing here.

Can’t understand why this place has bad reviews. Maybe the teenagers that hang out here all afternoon and don’t buy anything get kicked out? Idk but I have to say I have lived around the corner for 10+ years and I LOVE this place.
Personal favorite is the turkey bacon avocado bagel sandwich! They used to have a bagel me club but I don’t think it’s on the menu anymore. Also, the cranberry turkey bagel sandwich is great. I think the smoothie I like is called citrus crush? Idk but if I could eat here everyday I would. Unfortunately carbs are my kryptonite.

FIRE that manager. People like her are sad individuals who have miserable lives and take it out on others who aren’t doing anything. Fire her, she’s useless and awful and if you look at the reviews I’m not the only one who thinks this.
As for one commenter who said the «teenagers coming here give it bad reviews»; you definitely are oblivious so I won’t even bother with you. I’m not a teenager and I can ASSURE you that the people commenting aren’t teens either. If you’re ok with tons of people telling you that the mgr has an awful attitude and you still believe otherwise than you’re foolish. If the majority says something than maybe listen. Rudeness has no place.

Been coming here off and on for years. Bagels are decent. Service is ok for a place that clearly cares so little about its employees. The reason I keep coming back is because their Jalapeño Cheddar cream cheese is rediculously good. The main reason I gave them 2 stars is because of the inane, 3^rd rate, vaguely racist right wing propaganda they have up. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I respect the owner’s right and desire to get their viewpoint across but seriously, can the owner put something up that’s actually smart? The quotes and stories he taped up my 9 year old could debunk.
With that said, Ralph’s next door has some pretty good bagels too and no politics.

This place doesn’t even deserve a star. Manager kicked my young sister out simply for waiting on her friend with food that was not from bagel me. She was not consuming any food inside, and she stated this and the response she got from management was, «I don’t care.» I am in customer service myself, and if you guys know anything about your clientele you should know that students such as my sister are your regulars. Not after her experience there today. Train your staff.

It’s really so sad how absolutely terrible this location is now, and if you read the rest of the reviews here, you’ll see i’m one of many who feel way i feel. Ive been a customer at this bagel me for over 10 years, and Judith (the manager everyone is complaining about) has zero customer service skills and has no problem treating every customer like a criminal. Today i got a sandwich and bit into a broken piece of a toothpick that was! If you are wondering if it was from the toothpick that they put in the sandwich, the answer is NO, it wasnt!!! It was lodged in the meat separate from the toothpick holding my sandwich together! Long story short, i brought it in, and her response APPALLED me! She straight up said «it’s not our fault!» Omg. Really!!! I wasnt threatening to sue lol, i just was simply showing it to her and she was so rude and defensive, and told me that I complain and have issues all the time? Um, no. But if you dont take responsibility for a sharp object lodged into your food, thats disgusting! And to make matters worse, she said «the other half, where is it?» I had to go back to the salon where i had it in the fridge to prove to her that it wasnt a piece of toothpick from the other half, and when i did, she handed it back to me and finally said «well ok, its not our fault but ill make you a new half». At that point i was done. She told me maybe 10 times that somehow this was my fault, and when i asked her how me biting into a broken piece of toothpick MY fault, her final response was «well, are you bleeding?» I said «no, i am not, thank goodness» and her response was something like «yeah i thought so». Needless to say, i told her forget about it and asked me for my money back, to which she happily gave it back and in so many words said «dont come back again» DONT WORRY JUDITH, i WONT!!” Wait for dunkin donuts to open and see how far your tirades get you!

I really do like Bagel me products. I prefer the one at the Orange Circle, but I come here sometimes because my kids go to school nearby. Customer service here seems like a mess. Communication is difficult. My order was wrong… again. Manager is rude.

I should have read the reviews prior to going to Bagel Me again, but I wanted to give it another shot despite two previous negative experiences. Like another reviewer said, this is the closest location to me for bagels. The customer service is abysmal. I needed a dozen bagels, and was told where to get the bags for self-​selection. I returned to the counter, and three younger folks arrived at the counter simultaneously. Recognizing the kids were not ready to order, I asked the cashier if i could quickly pay for my dozen so I could leave. She looked at me, said, «Wait a minute,» and continued to look at the kids who were still chatting about what they wanted, I think. After two minutes of waiting, the kids finally stepped back still undecided, and I was able to pay. The staff completely lacks courtesy, and fails to recognize how to treat customers. I dont recommend this place to anyone.

Is it possible to give Zero stars for likability? Today was the last straw. Please stop lecturing my kids. Don’t lecture my kids on how to bring the bagels in a bag instead of the wax paper you provide… put it on a sign and they will. Don’t lecture my kids for not making sure your refrigerator door is completely closed… get the door fixed… Don’t tell me I need to present you with bagels we want toasted on a certain order… fix your system and embrace your customer. Never mind… voting with my dollars. There’s lots of other bagel places. You aren’t special. Bye.

The Manager lady is totally rude yells and rude to her employees she’s always unhappy she needs to be more professional and be more polite.

Do not open my bag of bagels and talk! I tell them how many bagels I have, and they still open up bag and have a conversation. You can count them from outside of bag … Or better yet, get the smaller clear bags the other Bagel Me’s have! This location is the only one that does this. So irritating!

My kids and I came here last week and I could not believe how rude the employees were! The bagels were fine, nothing special. I will never return to be treated so poorly. How disappointing, especially when customers have many other choices.

I wish I could give 0 stars for customer service. I’ve been coming here forever because I grew up in the neighborhood. I called to place a pick up order because it gets really busy on Sundays. I was on hold for 5 minutes and someone picked up and hung up on me. Eh it happens so I called back and someone else picked up the phone and screamed «bagel me hold on» and put me on hold… I was on hold for 7 minutes then I was hung up on… again. Ugh I must love being annoyed because I decided to call one more time and the same lady with a heavy accent picked up And said «I’m really busy right now so you can either hold or hang up I don’t care!» When I proceeded to ask her to stop hanging up on me she abruptly cut me off and said «I don’t care you can hold for 10 minutes, I’m busy.» Um no, bye… Won’t be coming back here.

Great place for hamburgers fresh w/​bun steamed over the patty (the old fashion way) or order with a bagel for a bun. Coffee and tea not so good! Soft drinks good variety. One star off for the drinks otherwise a great comfortable place to go with terrific food!!!

I live down the street and I’ve been coming here for about 10 years now (since I was 12) and they have always treated me really well! When it gets busy the staff can get pretty stressed out but I don’t blame them, because there are some pretty crazy customers that take up your time while you’re trying to help other customers. I’ve seen this place go up and down but overall the food has always been very delicious and there’s this lady that recognizes me thats pretty awesome. I believe she’s the manager and she has been there for years!!! She is so sweet! I give her 10 points for being awesome and helping managing the business. Also there’s another women there that works mostly at the register that has been there for many years and she’s been always kind to me too. She knows I like ranch with everything haha
Although this Bagel Me isn’t upgraded like the other ones I’ve been to, I think it deserve a lot of credit.
Great food and great hard working staff!

I love this place and everyone is really helpful considering how busy they are. The political stuff on the wall is really funny it makes you realize you are in Villa Park and there is little tolerance for opposing views. Makes me laugh every time.
Besides that I love this place it’s great.

Tuna Melt here is one of my favorite meals and I’ve been going to Bagel Me for close to 15 years now.
The conservative propaganda on the wall at this location is really off-​putting though. I get it, you’re the owner so you can put up whatever you want. But this is more than excessive and rude to both your customers and employees.

It’s unfortunate that I even need to leave one star. The food is great, but you better make sure you order it to go. The manager that runs this place is a small Hispanic lady with curly hair, stay away from her!!! It will ruin your morning experience of enjoying a simple coffee and bagel. It’s the little things;
1. I ask for coffee creamer; she responds by saying «for what?!»
2. She ran me through a full lecture telling me that I can’t buy a fountain drink to make ice coffee.
3. This wasn’t the first time, It happened with multiple customers while I was there.

I love bagels. Especially a good bagel. They have an extensive selection of bagels on a shelf in plastic tubs. Its self serve for to go orders. If ordering a sandwich the workers will get the bagel for you.
Their menu is very small. At first I thought they may be re-​doing their menu since there were several blank spots. But that was their menu. There was a little waiting area but most of the time you would be in the way as more customers may their way to the counter to get their food or to order.
First off this place is not cheap when it comes to sandwiches. Their breakfast melts were just around $ 6.00-$ 7.00. There is no type of spread on them so I asked to add some cream cheese. I knew it would be extra but I didnt think she would charge me the full amount when there was barely any cream cheese on my melt. When leaving I asked for ketchup and they said it was extra. .35 for a little ketcup? That was annoying. I can go to Trader Joes and get a big ketchup for $ 1.99 or so AND here they charge .35 per ketchup.
My sandwich was good. There was a lot of flavor in the garlic bagel. My husband also said it was good. But it was messy.
Service was okay. Nothing spectacular. Nothing over the top, just as expected for a bagel shop. There is another location off Chapman near the El Modena area which is 10 times better than this place. Lots more choices including a killer burger and good cupcakes.
