I love this little store and the new owners are great! I love to shop locally and support local businesses. They are very helpful and friendly. If you have a question about any plant, there is a gentlemen who is super knowledgeable and awesome. I highly recommend this shop!

In the garden department I am, basically, all thumbs so I count on go-to vendors whose products make me look like a star with effortless panache. That is why Pioneer Garden and Feed continues to get my business. Season to season, they have one of the best assortments of bedding plants and herbs that I have ever seen. Their prices are fair, especially for the quality stemming from their plants. I have planted in June and in October my plants are still going strong. They also have a nice assortment of hanging plants, as well, that usefully are grabbed up quickly. Pioneer is always busy and what I also appreciate from them is that they will go out of their way to pre-plant something for you, if need be. On a couple of occasions, I chose a couple of their ceramics for housewarming gifts and they planted up the pot with flowers I selected. So, green thumbs unite; let’s plant some flowers, people!

I found this gem of a place years ago and won’t buy my garden stock anywhere else. I have had great success in my garden with the starter plants I have used. I have bought many types of vegetables as well as annuals and perennials. Thanks to Pioneer I spend many happy hours in my huge garden. The friendly knowledgeable service is something to be valued in this day and age! It’s like a throwback to another time– before the impersonal big box stores came around. You don’t have to feel intimidated by asking questions or advice. Your items are cheerfully carried out to your car for you. If something is out of stock one day, just go back a few days later to pick it up-and be tempted by yet more offerings! They have so many cute gift items too. I can’t wait to get started each year!

This is your old fashioned garden store. If they don’t have it, they will order it for you. They seem to love their job, and really want to help you. If you have a garden question, they actually know what they are talking about. I know, my job is plants, and I shop here. Talk about supporting your local business. Shop here!

5 diamond stars Menards, Home Depot or Lowes can not compete the family friendly atmosphere here. Sure i’ll save money at the big box corporate vampires. But, what for, I prefer the pat on the back, friendly handshake, that friendly smile and yes that knowledgeable horticulture experience. They have so many garden treasures.

I love this local store. I used to live in the area but have since moved to the next town over and I still come here to buy my flowers. There prices are definitely reasonable for individual packs or flats of flowers. I always come here at the end of April, beginning of May to get my flowers for the season. They have a huge selection of flowers, hanging baskets, pots, soil, seeds and they also have cute decorations for your lawn. I wish I had a lawn to decorate! There is always someone nearby who is there to lend a helping hand… love how they help carry out items to your car.

This place is a throw back to simpler times when livin was easy… Honestly, walking in the door you are transported to an old rural feed store. The owner and employees work hard here to answer your questions or help you find what you need. They are truly knowledgeable on many landscaping /gardening subjects and they seem to really care about the customer here and also have a passion for what they do. And no, I’m not related to them. The only negative I can think of offhand is the cramped quarters inside the store. When they get busy, it can be hard to move around but to me that sometimes adds to the general authenticity of the store’s experience. They have at least something for everyone, a little of everything. I am thankful that they still are around, this type of Mom and Pop store is not a common sight in this area. Hopefully they will thrive for years to come.

Pioneer has excellent service. They are able to diagnose the weed issues I’m having in my lawn and recommended ways to eradicate them. I will always shop here for all my lawn and garden care products as they are extremely knowledgeable and can diagnose any of these problems.

What more can I say than what previous reviewers have not covered? I agree with all the 5 stars! Staff, products, location and prices — this place ROCKS. We have been going here for 15 years for our birding and gardening needs plus a great place to pick up bird feeders and seed to use as gifts for family and friends.

I have been a loyal customer for over 15 years and will continue to be so until I can’t bend over to plant something in the ground. Everyone at the store is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful(I don’t think I’ve ever carried my purchases to my car myself!). This is definitely the epitome of wonderful customer service. The selection of plants and yard decorations are plentiful and unique. The perfect place to find a gift for the person who has everything! Make sure to sign up for their newsletter too. it’s filled with seasonal tips and a wonderful monthly column by the owner’s dog which has made me both laugh and cry — so very well written. Two Green Thumbs Way Up!

I am also a believer in supporting local businesses! This place has been around for decades. For a small family run business they have a good selection and a lot of expert advise on planting, getting rid of unwanted bugs and critters, fertilizing, and mulching. I try to satisfy all of my spring planting needs here. Support local business and save gas!

This place is the absolute best for gardening supplies. The staff is always amazingly friendly and helpful, and they strike a nice balance between seeing if you need help and letting you aimlessly browse the store. They have a great variety of seeds, all of which I’ve been happy with. Pioneer is my preferred supplier of peat moss, and they don’t give me funny looks when I ask for it in January.(My bearded dragon lives in it, so he needs a year-round source.) Bird seed seems to be another big market for them, and they have a huge assortment of bird feeders and decorative garden stuff. I will continue to patronize this fantastic store as long as they’re in business, which I hope will be forever.
