We visited just at opening time 5:00PM on a July Saturday, first time diners, we were just passing through Ville Platte. We had the fried eggplant(strips) covered with crawfish étouffée & fried shrimp & onion rings plus a side salad. Their house made ranch salad dressing is good. The shrimp were big. All the food was delicious. I like Kikkoman soy sauce which they stock, for the sushi on Tuesday nights. There was good wine although not an extensive wine list. The prices are reasonable. Haven’t tried the pizza nor the stuffed big boy burger. The service may have been a tad slow but the result was good. Our waiter Austin had been there only 3 weeks.

Food is good but the service is slow. The place also needs a good cleaning. Parking is not very good.

I started eating at Nicks when I moved to Ville Platte earlier this summer. Nick’s has a nice atmosphere with American food on the menu. Nick says business started with the bar and pizza and he has been adding items to the menu since. I would say the pizza is the backbone of the menu and it would be hard to beat the prices around here. They have an afternoon buffet but I have not made it on yet for that. All of that said if your in Ville Platte and want to try a local place go to Nick’s.
