It seems that the Scottish Bakehouse heard everyone on here complaining about the wait times for food. I’ve now been for 4 meals and every time the wait was very quick, and the food came out hot. On top of that, everything is cooked from scratch right when you order it, so it maybe is a 15 minute wait, but it’s much fresher food. The chicken peanut noodles were crazy good, and the portions are massive for the price. This is THE go-to place on the island for any breakfast or lunch.

Not a fan we went there with our 2 yr old the food was cold when it came out. The linguica wasn’t cooked in the croissant. The kid behind the counter had no personality and looked like he didn’t want to be there

Great breakfast and pastries. Long wait time during the summer though. If you’re looking for something quick, they usually have curry chicken, veggies and farro salad, fresh salsa, along with green salads in the cooler. Picnic tables outside on the lawn.

Mediocre at best. I was sad because it seemed so cool! I would try it again because the reviews are so good, but my experience wasn’t great. Cashier was surly and unpleasant. Coffee wasn’t great. Blueberry muffin was bland. My croissant was served in a bag, cold. No offer to heat any of it. Just struck me as odd.

One of my favorite spots on Martha’s Vineyard. The Loaded breakfast sandwich with bacon is always on point. And the Congo bar was very very tasty. The service is always fast and friendly, and the ambiance is comforting. I will continue to frequent Scottish Bakehouse on my visits to the Island. Yum. #foodofmarthasvineyard

Highly recommended even though you don’t know me from a hole in the wall. But you will thank me later. Fantastic breakfast sandwich. Check the picture.

Best chocolate croissant ever. Bought breads, baked doughnuts, muffins and two chocolate croissants. Stand outs were the croissants. The flaky crust and melty chocolate made it worth every calorie.

Great place! Loved the turkey bacon and Swiss sandwich. The«goodness bar» was also a delicious and healthy treat. Staff are friendly and know their stuff. Highly recommend!

Hands down best chocolate chip cookies I have EVER had. And I have had a lot of chocolate chip cookies! You have to make a stop here — and try the cookies! I want one just thinking about it!

Best gluten free selection of baked goods hands down. Luckily it wasn’t crowded today so I was in and out without much effort. I snagged the last cheese bread, which I love, and sampled some delicious shortbread. Food case had already run out of most items or else I would have purchased more stuff to go. Missed my ferry leaving the island last year as the breakfast line was so long. I don’t think I’d go back for breakfast sandwiches… lol!

The Scottish Bake house on Martha Vineyard continues the tradition of made-from-scratch baked goods, lunch and dinner take out plates and sandwiches. Always jammed, worth the wait.

It’s been fun to get reacquainted with this destination eatery, which I originally knew as a more standard bakery when I was growing up. At some point in the early to mid 2000s. perhaps after an ownership change, they made a conscious choice to diversify their menu into a full range of breakfast and lunch options. Their care and attention to detail is a fine choice for those looking for food to eat there on the grounds of the Bakehouse or take with them to another island location. In recent visits, I’ve particularly enjoyed the range of large muffins and also generously portioned coffee drinks. At other times in the past few years, I have benefitted from a great variety of main dishes such as stir frys or Asian inspired offerings. This place is a real favorite with the local community; keep your eyes peeled for their distinctive bumper sticker that resembles a pitchfork.

Gluten free options. Great food nice people. They have a creative menu and interesting breakfasts, press cakes, and pastries. I come over to MV for work regularly and I try to make out here every time I visit, you should too. Nice picnic tables in good weather.

The food is good, overpriced but at least good. The customer service, on the other hand, is so bad. I waited nearly an hour for my order, which was 4 entrees — doesn’t seem too terribly big to warrant that kind of insane wait. There was no real apology or acknowledgment of how long it was taking, just a few expected excuses. Also — the(very nice I must say) gal who took my order didn’t know how a dish was prepared and didn’t seem to have the desire to find out. All very strange and left me hungry, annoyed, and scratching my head.

If a breakfast sandwich takes 45 min to make, is it still even breakfast? I’m alright with paying $ 1 extra for the local egg and $ 3 extra for the local sausage just for the conversation on is the pig local or is it cased local or will we ever know. Can I pay $ 5 extra for a rush order or just so I get my to-go breakfast sandwich in 10 min because why not. I’m on vacation and would rather support the local economy than get mad that this is clearly a problem per other Unilocal reviews and steps haven’t been taken to fix it. Really disappointed that we had to leave and get a refund rather than enjoy my last meal on the island for the year.

I went here based on Unilocal. We all must hVe ordered the wrong things because I thought it was WAY overpriced(on an island where everything is overpriced) and not that good. You basically have to take out or eat outside on picnic benches. I know I will be heckled, but I think the Black Dog Bakery Café is priced about the same but way better food.

The menu is really versatile and they were very accommodating and knowledgable about allergies to dairy. I got the coconut tofu and it was amazing. I’ve never had anything like it before. They took coconut flakes and encrusted tofu with it and then lightly pan fried it! Fabulous. They have AMAZING desserts for all types of food allergy and non, as well as quick to go items like organic marinated asparagus salad, edamame salad, hummus, etc… all really good stuff. Their fresh bakes loaves of bread looked amazing too. If I lived on the Island, this would be one of my go to places, for sure! BTW: It’s all take out. They do have some picnic benches out front though!
