Went here for ice cream! Looooooved the coffee Oreo ice cream and found out from the owner that it was made in house!!! Tried the coffee/chip/caramel and the black raspberry– soooo goooooood… Also got their clear, plastic cup and filled it with candy as souvenirs. Next time going back for the black raspberry and a tshirt!!! Update, went back for the fudge the next day. Soooooooooo yummy.

The cupcakes here are pretty good. The salted caramel was the one I tried and it was yummy, but tasted a lot more like vanilla with some caramel on top then the salted caramel I expected. Overall though it was still a good cupcake and I would recommend giving this place a try.

Actually walked out before I had a chance to taste anything. My family went in for an ice cream and the young woman behind the counter kept bringing her hand to her nose not a few times but constantly. Cold or allergy we weren’t taking a chance. Plan B a cupcake until I turned and witnessed a young man decorating the tray of cupcakes with pieces graham crackers licking excess frosting off of his fingers while completing his task. We decided to go elsewhere and will not be going back. Btw I asked for a manager and there wasn’t one on duty.

My friend and I wandered in here off the ferry hopeful we’d find a dessert to bring to a family dinner. These were perfect! We ended up getting 6 cupcakes: vanilla, strawberryx2, smorex2, nutella. I think the price was about $ 18 which is cheaper than the shops in Boston, and the cupcakes were a decent size. While I didn’t eat any, they disappeared after 2 minutes of being put out, so I think they were very much enjoyed. The only disappointment was that there weren’t many flavors. Some of them were sold out or not made, as much of the display was empty. It was before lunch, so I thought they’d still have more of a selection.

(3.5 stars) I’ve loved Sweet E’s for a long time — I think the first time I reviewed them was 2009 — I was blown away by their adorable, lovely store, and by their thoughtfulness(the boxes and the bags have cupcake holders– no potential for smudged frosting) and by their sweet staff and I even forgave the sky-high prices($ 4/cup cake) and the cash only policy. I ventured back for my yearly pilgrimage(which was its own adventure because in the off-season, Sweet E’s is only open Th-Sun from 11 – 4, and it turns out that sometimes they open even later than the posted hours). I came away with an expensive box of four cupcakes ready to chow down. The cupcakes were(gasp) fine. Some were better than others — the only thing I can think is that there was a recipe change — in fact, I’m nearly sure of it since the cupcakes even look different(or that Sweet E’s was having an off day– which is fine– we all have off days!). The yellow cake with chocolate frosting wasn’t light and airy at all — it tasted much more like a corn muffin — and gone was that delicious complex vanilla bean taste. The chocolate cake with vanilla frosting was better, lighter, airier — but still far too heavy — but at least the vanilla frosting was dead-on. This place is still charming and cute and lovely, but I really missed the precious, perfect cupcakes I tasted a year ago, cupcakes that I thought were the best I had ever tasted.

I am probably shooting myself in the foot for making specific recommendations, as I’d like to hoard them all for myself. But let me just say that the blueberry pie cupcake and the salted caramel cupcake are to — freakin — die for! The vanilla cupcake base — is so good. So good. SOGOODANDMOISTANDTASTYYYYYYYYYY! Love it.

I have eaten a lot of cupcakes in my day, but Sweet E’s might actually have the best cupcake I have ever eaten. We got a bunch of cupcakes for my Grandmother’s birthday and while I don’t know the names of each of them, I can tell you they are to die for. There was one that had vanilla cake and frosting with blueberries on top and a blueberry pie filling in the middle. Best cupcake I’ve ever eaten. Thankfully, being with my family who loves to share, I was able to try many other delicious flavors too: vanilla with chocolate frosting, lemon, chocolate cake with chocolate icing(I think it was ganache), s’more, and some sort of deep chocolate(it was black cake it was so dark) and vanilla frosting cupcake. The s’more one wasn’t amazing in my opinion, but the rest were incredible.

Don’t walk, run! It’s worth the ferry ride. I have finally found my cupcake… it is Vanilla Bean with Fudge Ganache. Yes, it has the correct ratio. And it’s so rich and flavorful that you can only eat one. Not that I didn’t try… The cake was AMAZING-I didn’t have to decapitate the cake as I normally do to rectify improper ratios of cake to frosting-I actually enjoyed it; it was a perfect match for the frosting. Seriously, it is a flavor explosion that made me pull over while eating it. No one was injured or endangered during my eating & driving occured-it was a CUPCAKEEMERGENCY! While my first purchase consisted of only two, I quickly knew I had to go back and get more. Because there was no way that I was getting on that ferry without some. The woman who was frosting cupcakes in the window at E’s was sublime. She offered us a frosting taste-of which I had to politely decline as I knew that I would have to have the entire bowl but she mentioned REPEATEDLY that I could have as much as I wanted, almost as if to test me and it was hard to resist. Clearly she didn’t know who she was dealing with. She told us about the new shop in Edgartown where we were staying, and I knew that I would be stopping by. The shop is sweet-we went to Vineyard Haven first-on Main Street; it has a Victorian feel to it, sparse though, but I’m sure that will change. It is self-serve, out of the loveliest cabinets. Too bad there is no place to hunker down and that they aren’t serving champagne because I would never, ever leave! hint, hint The next day we checked out Edgartown-just as lovely and brand new. I bought six cupcakes and wanted to linger and look at the beautiful antique display cases and there were lots of people there so I had to exit to allow others to be served! Believe me, those cupcakes didn’t last. I got 2 chocolate, 2 lemon and of course my beloved, vanilla bean & chocolate. I have been dreaming of these cakes of joy ever since the last morsel of the last one gobbled and will have to find an «excuse» to get out to the Vineyard-REGULARLY– as I don’t think I can wait until my next trip in the Fall. Residents of Martha’s Vineyard, you are so lucky. For those who are visiting: 18 Main Street, Vineyard Haven or 6 South Water’s Edge, Edgartown Get yourself a split of champagne and a half-dozen and sit on the beach at sunset with someone who is «E» worthy. If you’re going that way, pick me up a dozen-or maybe two. Wish they were on Newbury Street as I’d be a regular.

I think a cupcake only shop is a great and cute idea, especially for Martha’s Vineyard. We have so many tourists that of course they can get away with charging about $ 4.50/cupcake, but it’s the novelty really. It’s a small little shop, with all glass cases that are self serve and they usually have a cupcake special of the day. I also like how they have the cupcake holders in the bottom of the bags which are very convenient for travel. I took the kids I nanny here one time, but I haven’t been back… I just can justify that much for a cupcake when we could stay home and make them ourselves.

I’m someone who scopes out amazing cupcakes and this place hit top knotch, go vanilla-vanilla, I will return as soon as I hit up the vinyard Again! Kind of steep prices but well worth the visit. I guess for vinyard prices it’s some what standard.
