Art of Dance Academy

Art of dance academy is a wonderful studio! The staff, teachers and the director are all professionals. The classes are small an therefore the children get alot of attention an focus on learning to dance. Its the only studio I know that does two FULL productions a year which gives the children the opportunity to show off. The shows are AMAZING I have always felt welcomed and am proud to be part of such an amazing studio.

At first I thought we struck gold with this establishment, but it was fool’s gold! My daughter only had 2 classes here before we took our business elsewhere. The first class started 10 minutes late making a 60 min class only 50 min. The following week’s class started 12 mins late, but we were assured they would get there full 60 mins, however this was not the case. The class ended 5 mins earlier then its originally scheduled time making the class only 43 mins. The purple leotard we had to buy was ripped coming out of her second class (concerning as it was not when she went into the class). It was hot and the AC was not working, also there is a very loud disruptive shuffle between transitioning classes for the next room. Other parents and kids are showing up upstairs as your child is in the room and the noise is very distracting to the children. Also, there is a 2 way window right next to the top of the staircase (very unsafe gathering), but you are told to leave the light off so the kids can’t see you, but this also happens to be the stairway light, so very unsafe and it inevitably gets turned back on making it a fruitless endeavor. Out of 6 studios I researched this was the most expensive, so we expected more. I brought this to the owners attention and was assured the timing of the class would be corrected as they had not intended to short the class, however I received a phone call that night stating that my daughter was not a fit for their studio. So I blatantly asked if this was because I had complained about the shortened length of the class and the response I received was that they did not feel I was happy with their services. From there they offered me a full refund (even though refunds are not permitted) which I happily accepted. The biggest concern is that they initially used my daughter as not being a good fit instead of being truthful and stating that they did not like me holding their business accountable for its terms. Shame on them. Every parent in this class was disappointed with what was transpiring. I wish more parents would review this establishment and save the rest of use time and money. Also, check out the Google reviews, You can see where Ms Monique, the owner, attempted to rate and review herself with 5 stars as a customer to help boost her ratings, very unethical. I can assure you this is likely not the only unethical act being conducting here as many of the Google reviews are deemed not recommend due to not passing the vetting process, including her own review (which I am sure she will attempt to remove after reading this). tisk tisk.

Honestly in the beginning I was really happy with my daughter attending this dance studio, but for over $ 900 I expected way better service. The owner of the studio was super nice and sweet the day we went to get information and paid her $ 800 up front, then following after that, she was rude, unapproachable, everything was extremely unorganized, she made it seem as she was too busy to answer your questions, she was rude to the staff in front of the parents and children, and did I mention everything was so unorganized!!? It seemed as though every class they were asking for more money. Everything they do is still done on paper and they kept losing track of stuff. It was seriously a headache, keep ALL your receipts ! The day of their dance recital my daughter had to use the restroom and I approached ms Monique she blew me off said she didn’t know and walked away. I was beyond upset, to say the least! Her dance instructor was nice, but she would get frustrated with the girls, and being as the parents can watch through the window, it was frustrating and the parents weren’t happy about it at all. I wish more people would rate this dance studio, because I know every single parents in my daughters class at one point mentioned how unhappy they were. The place is old, the windows on the exterior of the place are broken, the parking is so crammed, DO NOT bring a big vehicle because it is nearly impossible ! I would never recommend this dance studio to anyone.

My daughter and I had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Monique Vermont this past September and from the start I realized this is a woman with a true PASSION for Dance. The Art Of Dance Academy is a place that inspires children (and adults) to explore their love for this Art, while giving them the necessary tools to achieve it. I truly enjoy bringing my daughter to her class with Miss Alexis, an instructor who works hard with the children to fulfill a beautiful vision in their winter and spring recitals. From what I have seen in this short time, Ms Monique treats everyone in a fair manner, is very professional when it comes to handling situations, whether financial or personal and is «in control» of her Dance Program. What I am impressed about is her level of integrity and positive nature. Now yes she does correct mistakes in class but it is always done in a nurturing way and not to belittle anyone. Art Of Dance Academy is a place where your child’s future will be BRIGHT IN DANCE… not to mention, she has THE BEST recital costumes. So glad to have found them :-)!!!
