Sunday evening my wife and I and another couple went to Bubba’s by boat. Everything was perfect. the food, view and service. Chelsea was so sweet and made sure we had everything we needed. She even made a makeshift table using a food tray and it’s stand, so we could all eat together. We will be back soon!

I am giving this place a 4 star review due to the fact that I only tried two items. The items I ate were the she-crab soup and i drank the mix drink. «what the duck.» Both were very tastey. I am looking fotward to trying the rest of tje menu

Oysters were good, but small. I got the Bubba burger which is supposed to have crab on it. It had a teaspoon full at most. Hubby got the soft shell crab burger and that was fine. Not the best local place by far. Mediocre at best.

With my child in tow, we ended up here due to the fact another place we tried had a 50 minute wait, on a week night. We left there and ended up here. With the name of Bubba’s Seafood Restaurant, I figured that it would have a more relaxed atmosphere. I was thinking about Forrest Gump’s shrimp boat friend. Needless to say, it’s more upscale than that. And the food is excellent. But the diners seated next to me had me silently laughing. They were so pretentious! Dahhling this and marrrvelous that. It was a good thing it wasn’t raining that day or they would have drowned! Will I be back? Sure, now that I know what to expect. Btw, I ordered the scallops! Absolutely marrrvelous! I told the waitress that they were cooked to perfection but it would be even better in a light white wine sauce possibly finished up with a little lemon juice. The next thing I knew, the head chef was at my table asking if it was alright. I told him perfect. Then he went on to say that I remarked that it would be good with a little white wine. He wanted to know where I was trained. I told him, the school of hard knocks and my taste buds. You don’t have to be classically trained to enjoy excellent food!

I will begin this review by saying late yesterday afternoon I had a dire craving for seafood. Like dire. Like the way a pregnant woman will crave pickled olives at 3:30AM. My husband told me to eat the browning banana on the counter to cure my hunger. But that just didn’t cut it. So I did some research and came across The Back Deck(thanks Tami C.). After an intense workout and the world’s shortest shower we drove over and arrived at about 8 pm. The sun was still setting. There was a beautiful hue of pink in the sky and the smell of the sea overcame my nostrils. We sat down to the rather crowded and rowdy scene that was the Back Deck and I realized that this must have been the bar scene of this area and was not going to fulfill my need for seafood. So we paid for our two drinks and went over to Bubba’s. We asked to be seated outside overlooking the water and let me tell you it was everything I was hoping for and more. The view– fantastic. What’s better than eating seafood while you look at well, the sea? Especially during a gorgeous sunset. There was hardly any breeze and our server immediately came over to attend to us. The atmosphere is exactly what I was looking for, a casual, calm seafood joint with a view. And boy did I get my seafood fill in. We ordered a dozen oysters for $ 13.95(great price). I ordered a cup of the she crab soup which I had to keep myself from licking the walls of the cup like a dog. It was amazing. So creamy, so much flavor. Exactly how I expect she crab soup to taste. Husband ordered calamari which was ok. The thousand island like sauce made it good but it wasn’t as light and crispy as I usually like it but that’s fine. I ordered the lobster tail with a side of Cole slaw and a side salad. Husband ordered the salmon stuffed with crab meat with Cole slaw and a baked potato. Everything was amazing. It tasted amazing. My tail wasn’t tough and rubbery like some places serve it(usually because it’s been frozen for a year). It was fresh, well seasoned and delicious. My husband really enjoyed the salmon stuffed with crab and unfortunately, forgot to leave me a forkful to taste. Our server was very attentive and constantly came back to check in with us. The prices were fair in my opinion. The only thing I’d change is the silverware which is very cheap metal and the spoon cut the corner of my mouth and the inside has kinda an odd funk smell to it. Like old mustiness. But sitting outside is way worth it. Overall it was exactly what I was looking for and I’ll be back the next time my craving comes along. Or before then who knows!

I got the dozen jimmies or should I say small male crabs. These were rather pedestrian. Half were runny and the other half were empty and over done. Steamed crabs in the state of Virginia are now ruined for me. The worst part was that they costs nearly $ 50 for the dozen. I’m extremely disappointed.

Knowing very well that Memorial Day weekend would be crazy I called a week and a half in advance to make a patio reservation for the Saturday of. They took the reservation and at no time let me know it would just be a «call ahead only» until of course when we walked in that Saturday and still had to wait 20 mins to be seated. When we were seated they pushed two small tables together which definitely did not accommodate the party of 10 that we had. The food was so-so, service was also meh. You are basically paying for the view and that’s about all the visit is worth.

Even on a rainy gray day and sitting inside, the view at Bubbas is breathtaking. I have eaten many times at all of the restaurants along this strip(Chicks, Dockside, Back Deck) and something about the way Bubbas frames out the view with their windows makes it look like a living painting. It reminded me again of why I love living here so much. I saw water-men and women boat by, local birds, swaying marsh grass — all what seemed like steps away. Absolutely breathtaking. The experience at Bubbas is actually superb. The service was great. The manager came to check on us. We never needed another sip of water, ice tea, ketchup. Ever. The restaurant is lovely, with wooden floors, lots of light, and plenty of nooks where tables are so you feel like you have some privacy. But… the food was a bit of a different story. Our table had a she crab soup — good, even really good with sherry oil on top, a pound of steamed shrimp — good, a burger and fries — again, solid, a dozen oysters and the fresh flounder sandwich which I had fried. We eat a lot of oysters. A lot. As in several dozen a week when they are in season. And these we couldn’t eat. My friend actually thought they could have been from a tub and then placed on the shell. My fried flounder sandwich was ok, but considering they charge extra if it is a fresh catch of the day, which it was, my sandwich was around $ 12 and I was hoping for something delish. It was actually quite dry. My friend commented that she didn’t think you could over-cook fried fish, but it seems you can. Still, Bubbas is lovely and we will continue to go for the amazing view, drink specials, soup and appetizers.

The best seafood I’ve ever had! Even topped Seattle, WA! I’ll be going back every time I’m in VA! Plus, the waitress was amazing, fun, friendly and totally took care of us. The funnest part was that their second dining area, over the water, was starting to flood, due to high tide, while we were there. Was the biggest kick seeing the floor board getting wet with water seeping up and rushing through. We were in awe! I love this restaurant! We even bought T-Shirts!

This place had very tasty seafood. We had a party of 9 and came in about 9pm on a Saturday night. The service was good, but the kitchen was not prepared for customers even though they they list 10 pm as the time for the last order taken. The rockfish was cooked perfectly, but the blackening seasoning was too heavily used and the flavor of the fish was masked. I would go back, but just ask that they use less seasoning.

It was a warm, beautiful day and my hubby wanted to take me to the one of the restaurants overlooking the water and sit outside. We have been to many in the area, but not here yet. We were seated promptly outside right by the water. The view was amazing! Neither one of us were super hungry so we just ordered a few appetizers and drinks. The she crab soup was the best I have tried in the 757 area. So good!!! The service was great. We really enjoyed our date night here. Will have to back again soon and try and full dinner and get some more of that soup!

This is one of many places I like for seafood. The setting and scenery is beautiful. Right on the water! The crab soup, fried shrimp and fresh fish is always good. I had a crab cake but it has a funky after taste to it .“not usual” this place is good for dinner date and possibly a large group.

View and ambience was great for a casual meal. Unfortunately, the last part was just OK. We ordered some oysters rockefeller, crab soup, and a burger with some crab. The oysters rockefeller was good, though nothing special. Needed a bit more flavor. The crab soup was okay, lacking on the crab and also very small on the portion size. The burger was probably the best thing we got, but was overdone(I asked for medium). They did add a little bit of crab to it but I couldn’t taste it at all with the bacon. Not sure if it belonged there.

May 22, 2015 We were a party of 7 with call-ahead seating for 7:15pm. We were seated on time and served 2 appetizers by 7:36pm. At 8:06pm, 3 tables seated after us, 1 at least 30min., was served. When questioned, a Manager lied and said our order was just taken 22min ago, 7:49pm. The food was just OK. The MD blue crab sold as #1 Males were barely legal, 2 of 12 illegal(smaller than 4in.) and 1 was empty for $ 59.90. The waitress described them as 6in. We spend a lot of money in restaurants… this was ridiculous! You should NOT blatantly lie to your customers!

We went there for lunch during restaurant week. We had to wait about 20 – 30 minutes since it was packed with lots of groups. I ordered the clam chowder and boiled flounder sandwich. The clam chowder was a bit salty but it was good. The sandwich was so delicious!!! They know how to cook fish! The reasons for 4 stars are… the waitress had a bad day or something? she never ever smile during the services, not friendly at all. We asked water with lemons(5 of us), and she only brought 2 slices of lemons!!! I’d go back when the weather is nice!

If I’m being perfectly honest, I don’t love the food here and the service is almost always slow. However, the view is absolutely beautiful. As slow as the service is, the wait staff is very friendly and accommodating, which goes a long way with me. The blackened rockfish is probably my favorite thing on their menu. If you’re going to eat here, definitely order seafood. Their other menu items aren’t really worth it.

Greeted at the door by a cute and friendly hostess named Sarah who seated us quickly. Our waitress was Vanessa who was bubbly and knew the menu and specials very well. We shared a cup of she crab soup which was very warm and yummy! Which was stuffed with crab. I had the Bubba burger and It was cooked to perfection. My husband had a salad and calamari, absolutely fabulous! We dinned with a beautiful view of the sun setting on the lynnhaven river.

First thing you’ll notice is the breathtaking view. It’s most enjoyable to eat a meal outdoor under the sunset. However, I came for the steamed blue crabs since not many restaurants in town has this option. Perhaps I came when blue crabs are not in season, I ordered half a dozen and half of those were very small and didn’t have much of the sweetness of good blue crabs. I also felt that they were a bit over priced. I had them in Florida and they were ¾ of the price and not little baby ones. It’s really too bad since I drive half an hour for this. BUT their fries were AMAZING! And probably some of the most friendly and kind staff! If I have another chance, I’d definitely try something else on the menu such as their catch of the day!

Came here a few months ago with girlfriend because we love this area and figured to give bubbas a shot. It’s a great location with a great view. We both had the burger with crab meat and it was pretty good but hardly any crab meat

Didn’t take any pics because my phone was dead. Had lunch here last week and we started with some clam chowder and she crab soup. Both were excellent! We ordered a few appetizers and had the oysters rockefeller, shrimp cocktail and stuffed mushrooms. The shrimp were huge and fresh! It was my first time having oysters and they were actually really good. The restaurant was packed but our waitress was attentive and the views are spectacular even on a rainy day.

A favorite of ours on VA Beach. We’ve stopped here every year for the past 5 or so. Right on the water with fantastic views. The service is always great and the crabcakes are amazing. Stuffed flounder was awesome, and their raw bar is great when in season. Not a big menu, but what they do, they do well.

I enjoy going here and sitting on the patio seating that is right on the water. I always order a half a pound of steamed shrimp, always tasty. I very much enjoy the crab cake sandwich when it’s in season but most of the time I normally just order a special of the day. Blackened fish of some sort. I love their coleslaw, but everyone has their own opinion on that. It is definitely basic, but I like it. This is one of my go-to spots to relax and sit on a patio and enjoy some seafood. Love the location, and always great service.

If I could give this restaurant a zero, I would. We were a large group with an 8:30 reservation for the second floor patio with the water view. We arrived a bit early, but we waited mysteriously for 45 minutes. No explanations, no apologies. When we were finally showed to our seats at 9:15, we were led to one of the first floor dining areas. Six people in our group were shown to a separate table. When we protested, we were told that an earlier group had arrived 45 minutes late, and that no, they could no longer accommodate us at the second floor patio. When we told them we had made specific reservations, the owner told us that they«didn’t really take reservations, and talking on and on about this is not going to help.» No apologies, only circular, illogical excuses as to why they would take a reservation and not honor it. The wait staff made futile attempts to help us, and eventually managed to clear the second floor patio for our group. After appetizers, we moved our party upstairs. The kids in our group were already sleeping very hungry. We were told by the manager that she was surprised we were allowed to be there, since they typically seat people who rented the space! Truth be told, we had been going to Bubba’s for years for our final dinner of an annual family vacation. I found the food extremely slow to arrive. I saw a dozen oysters($ 2 a piece) served with one oyster shell measuring ½ an inch. How dare they serve a tiny oyster for that price! My fish was overdone and dry. Most of our meals arrived cold. WEHADNOUTENSILS! Yes, they ran out of spoons and forks. So we waited again, while our food got even colder. The deserts were OK. So, to the rude owner of Bubba’s: You won tonight. We paid you the full bill, with the mandatory 18% gratuity. We ate the subpar food. But thankfully for Unilocal,I can tell my story and perhaps spare the next victim our experience. And do not worry, we will never, ever return. I hope the owner remains the same insufferable, angry crone we met. Nothing would please me more than for her to lose the business she does not deserve, and Bubba’s can sink into the Atlantic ocean.

This place has an awesome location. The patio is right on the water and brings a very serene view. The service was so-so with long wait times when we needed our server. An even when she was at our table, no eye contact. The food here is super over-priced. I had the flounder dinner.(I wanted sheepshead, but the server said they never have that… then why is it on the menu??) I had the fish blackened, it was alright. The baked potato was standard with only a small pre-packed serving of butter and a little cup of sour cream. The dinner roll was missing… and my server never came by so I could ask her for one. And the steamed broccoli(which was $ 2.95 extra) was disappointing. The food was okay, but I could have made the same thing at home, better, for less than 1⁄3 the price. That’s a thought I never should have when eating out. The food here is nothing special, so I guess its a good thing they have such a nice view to bring customers back.

Dined on 6÷27÷15. Food was fresh and okay for the price. The reason why I am leaving a 1star is because the service was bad. We were seated up stairs, out of site out of mind. Server was Megan, she was nice but we hardly seen her. Had to place to rain guard down ourselves, we would soaked if we waited. Will not be back.

Mixed review. Patio view was awesome. Really enjoyed being outside. I’m born and raised in So Cal so Atlantic Seafood dishes can be a bit foreign to me but waitress provided a sample of She Crab soup and recommended the Rock Fish. I did the fish and was not disappointed. The Coleslaw was much less than great(but everyone has an opinion on coleslaw), I just found it more cabbage than anything. Our waitress was great till she forgot about us. Since it was early dinner the crowd was light but growing. Multiple requests for iced tea required. This was my first seafood in forever. I live in Austin TX now and prefer fresh seafood. If it’s more than 100 miles to ocean send me a steak. The Rock Fish satisfied my «need». Thank you!

We called ahead and was told there was a 15 minute wait. We showed up and our name was not on the list and then we waited over an hour to be seated. We sat in a very nice setting but our food took over an hour to order and get delivered. We were told our food was coming out multiple times but didn’t come out for 15 minutes after told it was about to come out. When we mentioned how long it took to get seated and then how long it took to get out food we were offered dessert. I think that is a poor offer. Why would I want to stick around for dessert? The point is as a restaurant staff be honest with your customers. We just want to eat food with decent service and the restaurant.

I wanted to love this place considering the beautiful water view as we sat on the patio. However everything was just okay. The waitress was very pleasant and helpful but she took her time with our drinks I’m pretty sure she forgot mine. The she crab soup didn’t meet my expectation. We ordered the stuffed flounder and tuna with fries. Each entrée was good and the serving met the price but I don’t think I’ll be returning. I guess I can say I checked it off my list of places to try in Virginia beach.

Awesome seafood! The meal prices weren’t too bad either. I had the soup and the shrimp Caesar salad! I would definitely recommend both! Another person in the group had the scallops and he said they were some of the best he’s ever had. The environment of this place is awesome and it’s right on the water! We will definitely be back if we’re in the area again! Our server was Wendy and she was awesome.

A place that never disappoints. I do not really need a place that dazzles me or has specials all the time. I want a place that has quality food, good ambience, and great service. Bubba’s meets those require to every time I’ve been here. Tonight I started at a place I’ve wanted to try and I was terribly disappointed so I came here and they came through as always. I started with the shrimp cocktail. The shrimp was tender, plump, and fresh. The sauce was spicy and perfect. My friend had the she-crab soup. It was among the best around. For the main I had broiled flounder with a side of fries and steamed broccoli. Everything was terrific. My friend had the Bubba burger. Whoever thought of crab on a cheeseburger first was a genius. All the flavors melt together wonderfully. I finished with key lime pie. It was quite tasty. Not as tart as I like but it was pretty good. It was obviously home made so I will forgive the lack of tartness. I have never been let down here. They can get busy but the staff does their best. Tonight I beat the rush and the service was flawless. Can’t wait to come back!

Tuesdate dinner!!! Wot.wott.lol Seriously!!! this could be one of they easiest five(5) star ratings I have given. This is my second time to dine in here and Bubba’s Crabhouse never fails to meet my expectations. Superb customer service . Delectable and mouthwatering food. Stunning and spectacular view. Indeed, it was a fantastic and romantic dinner. Anyhow, I had ordered she crab soup as starter and Bubba’s Burger for entrée. The soup was creamy, well-seasoned and loaded with crab meat. The burger on the other hand was very complex, lots of flavor and simply delicious. Definitely, one of my best meals. The outside deck is a great spot to dine on.

Bubba’s is one of my favorite seafood restaurant with great water view. The food is always fresh and tasty. The staff is friendly. I order a salad with broiled crab cake, no fillers! The surf burger is a burger topped with fresh lump crab meat. Meat seasoned well. So gooood! Oh I forgot the she crab soup! This is now the best I’ve had in all this area! It Has a kick to it & very flavorful. The soup had a good consistency base. Go Bubba’s!
