Always love this place. Food is great just make sure you know what your ordering first. Friendly service and nice music to go with it.

I have been in different peruvian restaurants in the States and Cholo’s is by far one of my favorite one! I’m Peruvian and they have authentic food that tastes just like back home. I recommend«Lomo saltado, bistek a lo pobre, papa rellena and tallarines verdes». Service is great and place is always clean! I highly recommend it!

I tried Cholo for the first time. The only thing better than their service was the bold flavors of the food. Tired the sampler, mixed civeche, and beef heart. I plan to return often.

New management. The food is simply delicious, I’ve had Ceviche and Tacu Tacu and I was really satisfied with the taste and presentation. The staff is really friendly, I’m coming back today for more!

Stopped by after a movie on Sunday 6:15 pm for dinner. We walked in a party of 3 and weren’t greeted but stared at as if we were aliens. We weren’t sure if we were supposed to seat ourselves or wait to be seated. We were asked if we were ordering to go. We said no, we were eating in. What we didn’t know and they didn’t tell us was that they close at 7 pm on Sundays. However, it was 6:15 so if they didn’t want any more business, they should have told us to go somewhere else. Every single table was dirty so they had to wipe one off so that we could sit. We ordered… but first we were told no, we don’t have that, no… we don’t have that either. So, I just asked… well, what do you have so that we know what our choices are. While we were waiting for our food the guy started cleaning tables down and sweeping then proceeding to put chairs on top of tables. I told my husband… maybe they were closed? My husband asked what time they closed and we were told 7pm. I have NEVER seen a restaurant close or begin to close prior to closing time. We felt rushed and couldn’t leave soon enough. Needless to say, we wound up taking the food to go and were gone before 6:45. The food my adult daughter got was mediocre at best and tasted bland. She got a beef dish. My husband and I tried ordering chicken dishes but that wasn’t available. So what we wound up getting was seafood dishes(how convenient to their purses) and all of the seafood was over cooked and rubbery from the squid to the shrimp and mussels. All of it. Disgusting. Would I go there again? Heck no! Would I recommend trying it? Heck no! Do I wish them well, Yes… but they need to step up their game! Why did I give it 2 stars? Because I have never rated a restaurant so low before and I feel guilty! Other wise, this place wasn’t worth one star in my opinion. :(

This is a nice little restaurant near the Lynnhaven Mall, so it’s in a great location for those in the area. Plenty of parking in the area and this establishment appeared clean and tidy. However, the clerk who took my order at the counter gave me the impression that he did not care and did not have the greatest customer service skills). I order the ceviche(mixto) and chicken and rice, both to go. My meals were sufficiently packed. However, once I retuned home I found that I got shell fish and rice in place of the chicken meal. It wasn’t busy, so I have no idea why my second order wasn’t correct. Ceviche was superb(only thing that impressed me) and my other order was decent, even though it wasn’t the chicken. I’ll give this place one more try, due to the ceviche. Possibly the customer service will be a lot better, then maybe I can add a fourth star.

This is defently nothing close to peruvian food. The only good plate I had was the causa rellena, all the others are missing flavor and seasoning. The rice always looks and tastes that it was from the day before. I miss the old peruvian spot in downtown Norfolk. Also the waiters suck, they dont even sit you or acknowledge that you have just walked in.

Went this weekend with my husband. We had the traditional rotisserie chicken with lots of rice and fries and it was delicious! With the spicy green sauce for dipping — you can’t beat it. We each had a quarter chicken, I had rice, he had fries, and we each had a fountain drink and it was about $ 20.00, including tax! Great, fresh, delicious food at a great value. We’ll be back for sure!

Great restaurant!!! Chef does a good job improvising with what little he has to masterpiece the art of Peruvian food. Been three years since visiting Peru and the anticucho and leche de tigre were as I remembered it. So yeah, good place. Oh, and the service was good. Peruvians that know the culture and the menu. What else is there to ask for? Wish they had a jack daniels maracuyá.

I visited the Virginia beach area and decided to try this restaurant. The food was very good! I had the tamal which was good(of course there’s always room for improvement), the ceviche de pescado was very good, and the rotisserie chicken was delicious! The light green sauce for the chicken was so so so good! It’s addicting! The owner was very nice and friendly. If I’m ever in the area again I will come back again for sure!

Never had Peruvian before but I am impressed. Meat was well seasoned. Not much variety. But the food is fresh & hot. I would come back.

This is not authentic Peruvian food! I was really happy about a new Peruvian restaurant in town, but this is just like the previous one… disappointed!

My steak and rice was perfect and was just what I expected. We also ordered 2 traditional Peruvian cocktails that were made with lime and topped with cinnamon. I wasn’t a big fan of the wet potatoes, the consistency was weird but everything else was fine.

I wanted to like this place but I couldn’t. There’s one thing I’ve learned after today about Unilocaler’s in VA: Do not trust them because most of the time they do not know what good food is. So our service was so-so, I didn’t have a problem with our waiter. But the food was so horrible, I couldn’t even mask it with the green sauce(which was also horrible). I got the Aji de Gallena, which I have had at a Peruvian restaurant I go to in Brooklyn. I knew it wasn’t going to taste the same and may be made differently, but holy crap it was so bad. Someone posted a pic of it and basically, it had the consistency of chicken and dumplings. It had shredded chicken which is already lacking chicken, and the sauce was like soup. And to make matters worse, they add thick slices of potatoes in it to even make it look like it’s a decent portion for 12 $! And the potatoes weren’t even readdy. They were crunchy and cold. I knew I shouldn’t have trusted the other Unilocaler who posted a pic of the food and said«It was the best Peruvian food in Hampton roads!». I was not happy. I took it to go cause I felt bad since our waiter was really nice, but I took it to go-to the trash can at my house. So overall; I would not recommend this place to anyone. My sister liked what she got, but I’m not too happy with what I had. My sister plans to go back and try other stuff so maybe she’ll have a better opinion about the place later on.

Horrible service! Food Is overpriced! One of the worst peruvian restaurants I ever been too. I ordered the Seco de Carne and it only came with three small pieces of beef. When I asked for a side order of extra beef the owner refused my request and said I had to order a whole other dish. The quality of food is not great either! Changing the name of your restaurant doesn’t change the shitty service you provide. The whole point of running a restaurant is customer satisfaction and this restaurant failed tremendously at doing so. I do not recommend this place at all.

$ 13 entrée and I get one piece of chicken? I’m not at all satisfied. I would not recommend this place. The owner is too cheap to give customers what they’re paying for.

I finally got my Peruvian chicken and yucca fix. The chicken was a bit salty, but the fried yucca made up for it. The green jalapeño sauce tastes fresh. The prices are reasonable. I couldn’t find a menu online, so I took a picture of it. I’ll definitely return!

Excellant restaurant authentic. Chef is from Peru making some ridiculous food. My boyfriend and I are picky eaters and this is probably the only place that serves Peruvian food done right in the Hampton road area. Defiantly coming back.

Excellent! We haven’t been able to find a good Peruvian restaurant in the Hampton Roads — great ceviche is a must! My husband and I both ordered their ceviche mixto, and we were very pleased. The plate was full of a concoction of fresh seafood, and it was a generous amount. My son had their lomo Saltado and it was also very good. My son just said he wished the dish had some more sauce… We will definitely be back for more! We are hoping they can add chow fa to the menu though! Service was also great. 5 stars!

Fantastic meal! Ordered the half chicken entrée and the mixed ceviche. Both dishes were downright amazing! I can’t think of anywhere else in the nearby area that offers Peruvian cuisine. This is a fantastic restaurant to eat at! Some of the best rotisserie style chicken for miles!
