If I could give this place a negative five, I sure would. There have been times where I have been stereotyped in the past, but this«nightspot» definitely takes the cake as the worst. My experience with this place was over even before I got in. Me and a couple of friends wanted to check this place out as we were out of town. I went to have my ID checked by one of the bouncer, who examined it for nearly a minute. The bouncer asked that I confirm the address on my ID two times. After I gave him that, he asked for ANOTHERID(ridiculous at this point). After giving him another ID for ANOTHERMINUTE, he asked for my address again. After I gave him the address again, he told me that he could not let me in, and insisted on keeping my original ID(which was my license). I had to get a police officer to come over and get my ID from the bouncer, so he can give it back to me. Even the police officer said that the picture on the ID looks like me. Absolutely appalling the things I had to go through with this bouncer. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone at all. It’s obvious that this place discriminates on the patrons that try to get in. This was definitely one of the downfalls of my trip to Virginia.

I think there are more people with dreadlocks in Hammerheads than there are in Jamaica. And I like that, maybe just because I have dreads, but I find something enticing in that. There are not many places where you can hear hardcore rap on the oceanfront. In fact, I would say Hammerheads is the only place. So if you want to hear Nikki Ménage, Lil Wayne and Lil Wayne & Nikki Ménage non-stop, then this is the place to be. Aside from those two distinguishing features, Hammerheads is like any other bar on The Block: tiny and crowded. There’s nothing spectacular here, just a place to go and get drinks. Still a locals favorite(mostly frequented during the winter when the parking is free and so is the cover), Hammerheads attracts a huge summer crowd of just turned 21s and other rowdy drunk folk. My highest regards to the bartenders and waitresses who manage the huge crowds needs with lightning speed.
