Haygood Barber Shop

I’m only in Va. Beach for the holidays, but I needed a haircut. I jumped onto Unilocal here and found great reviews for this Haygood Barbershop. Well, it was great.
Poncho is a no-​nonsense, yet amusing, barber. He efficiently cut my hair exactly how I wanted, and trimmed my ‘stache and eyebrows on request. 14 bucks plus tip.
I highly recommend.

I was looking for a place closer to home to get a haircut and turned to Unilocal.I saw that Joe D. checked into this location 9 times so I figured I would give it a try. lol. What can I say about this place… it’s not a salon. If you simply want a decent hair cut done pretty quick then stop by. Kathy ended up cutting my hair and since it was my first time she ensured I was happy with the cut. Overall a good experience and would return again.

I seem to go through phases where I want to cut my own hair. Just throw a #3 on the ol’ clippers and shave away. I also go through phases where I want a real Barber shop experience. Today I wanted that «fresh from the Barber» feel. And Haygood Barber Shop delivered.
This isn’t my first time here, just first time reviewing it. I told Luis what I wanted and he listened, have some suggestions and went to town. I came out with a nice taper, blocked wide nape (just like I asked for) and a straight razor neck shave. Finished off with a talcum powder brush on the neck. I didn’t feel an itch from any stay hairs that made out down my collar. I also love that they use compressed air to blow your neck off. Not some cheesy hair dryer.
Nice comfortable place, friendly staff and candy for the kids! Definitely going back, especially since I live a block away!

I love going here… never a line to get in. The only down fall which really isn’t that bad is they only accept cash. For a kids haircut it is $ 11 but worth it to avoid lines and traffic.
But everyone is super friendly and my 2 boys (3 & 6) actually look forward to getting their haircut. at the end there is always lollipops for them.

Pancho and Luis have been with the barber shop for a number of years and have consistently provided me with great tonsorial maintenance. It took me a while to find a decent barber who knew how to cut hair and I was fortunate to find two at this shop.

I’ve been getting my hair cut by the Haygood barbers since they were located their old shop down at Haygood Shopping Center. They moved to their current location about 2.5 years ago, however the service is still the same excellent service they’ve always provided.
These guys have been around forever, and there’s almost always some jovial banter going on between the customers and barber’s during my visits making it a humorous trip as well.
