Jody’s Popcorn

This was a nice little shop with tasty fudge & popcorn samples. They even sell beers & wines in fridge for cheap. However, I do not recommend purchasing one of the pre-​made bags, purchase from the counter instead. I brought my boyfriend back some popcorn that was bagged in the store and he said it was stale.

Killer popcorn and an awesome storefront. The chocolate caramel gets all the thumbs up!
They also have all sorts of other sweets (and beer) for those of you who don’t share a love of quality popcorn.

The service was great. This is a little pricey for popcorn especially the classic like kettle Korn or movie theatre. I can see charging more for gourmet style popcorn. It’s good but I could’ve been satisfied with getting some from the grocery store.

I am a popcorn lover, my favorite snack and the smell lead me to Jody. Yes yes. I got big city mix. Too large packs 9.75. A great deal. The double cheese is great. Carmel was being made when I walked in. So I grabbed a fresh bag.

Love this place, so many different flavor a and variations! I always try something different! I’ve yet to be disappointed by Jody’s!

Solid 4-​stars. Rather pricy, but rather good. Bought popcorn as gifts and one person, who had the toffee, said that he ate it pretty much in one sitting — that’s a good review.
Staff was friendly and helpful and offer samples so you pick just-​the-​right flavor.
Oh, and if I matters, they are certified kosher.

So many flavors, it’s amazing that you can have a popcorn non stoppable to eat. It’s like a killing machine. Jody’s is truly original in the popcorn making. Don’t be tight and forget about the so called diet of sugar, you got to have it when you are in Virginia Beach, because its the only store is in Virginia Beach.

Great selection of flavors, you can sample various different flavors of popcorn before making your selection. Besides the popcorn, they also offer sports tins and different flavors of fudge. Staff is very cordial and attentive.

Well I finally made it here! Was really craving for Kettle popcorn & the only place I can find locally for now was Jody’s and since I was down at the beach I followed the smell and stopped in.
The guys behind the counter was very friendly and accommodating! Spoke to everyone and welcomed any questions. They let you try the popcorn before buying.
The place is way too expensive! I mean double the price for what you can get from their competition and seriously it wasn’t even that good. I know Dave’s actually use a real kettle bin that they stir with a paddle to make their popcorn. Jody’s however, uses a kettle machine and there IS a difference in the taste. The popcorn isn’t that fluffy, almost hard texture. The gentleman was kind enough to tell me that he is making fresh kettle if I wanted to wait so, the hard popcorn was fresh! Can’t imagine after a couple of hours what the texture would be.
Would I go back? Nope but dang I bought the bucket and with the bucket you can get it refilled for $ 12. Naw… still won’t go back for that.

I’ve walked pass this place so many times but I finally decided to stop in. Boy was I in for a surprise. The staff was extremely friendly and offered a sample of just about anything I wanted. I had so many choices I couldn’t make up my mind. The flavors I tried were cheddar, caramel, chocolate drizzle, and kettle. They were all great. I ended up getting the cheddar and caramel blend.
They also make fudge and other chocolate treats (e.g. chocolate coated oreos, chocolate coated nutter butters). I didn’t try them but they looked amazing. I will definitely check out Jodi’s again the next time I’m visiting Va Beach!

Great popcorn. and you can sample ANYTHING! They also make popcorn balls, dipped in peanut butter AND chocolate! They are the perfect balance of salty and sweet. The service is extremely friendly and I always leave with more than a few bags of popcorn. Where else can you get movie theater style popcorn without having to go to the movies?! They have great caramel corn, jalapeño cheese, and peanut butter flavors! Having a party? You can find popcorn to match your theme!

Great popcorn and a huge selection of sport team tins in 2 different sizes. They have a huge variety of popcorn flavors, but I hate the prices.

My boyfriend surprised me during one of his visits with popcorn from Jody’s, and it was delicious! He got me the «Cloud Nine» flavor, which is caramel corn with Virginia peanuts drizzled with milk and white chocolate. It was really good but definitely something you can only eat a handful of every now and then because it is so rich. He also got me the traditional Kettle Corn, and that I loved! There was a very slight higher proportion of salt to sugar that I couldn’t get enough of. I’d love to visit Jody’s again once I come back to the area — I’d be perfectly content with a big bag of some more Kettle Corn!

Love the popcorn at Jody’s. We were visiting the beach and it was music weekend. Decided to go for a little walk away from the bands for awhile and stumbled onto Jody’s. Wow, popcorn heaven! There was an employee outside with a tray of free samples, a good way to get you hooked!
If you have a hankering for caramel, white cheddar, jalapeño, chili, or chocolate, you can indulge here with a bag of fresh popcorn for about $ 5. There are more unusual flavors here than you’ve probably ever seen before: Old Bay, Ranch, Cajun. I chose Fusion, which is a mix of caramel corn and white cheddar. Really unique and yummy. Great kettle corn too — it even comes in rainbow colors!
We grabbed two bags and went back over to enjoy the bands on the beach, munching away on our new finds. We’ll be back next time we visit Virginia Beach.

This is an awesome little spot that makes a wide variety of original popcorn flavors, as well as other delicious goodies like fudge, caramel and candy dipped apples, chocolate dipped cookies, marshmallows and much more. The staff is attentive and ready to offer free samplings of any popcorn flavor — I tried the homemade caramel corn, which was delicious and the cinnamon toast popcorn, which tasted exactly like the cereal.
Ryan C. fell in love with the cheddar jalapeño popcorn so his mom bought him a bag. I have to say, I fell in love with it too! He seeks out jalapeño flavor and I usually avoid it, but the popcorn is a manageable spice for me. My current favorite snack is actually 4 pieces of this popcorn and then a handful of cashews to neutralize the spice. The cheddar dust is addicting but that helping of pepper flavor really puts it over the top. They also have popcorn colored to reflect your favorite professional or school sports team’s colors.
His mom also got a few cannolis (its a given, she’s Italian), and Ryan and I shared one. It was his idea to share, and after taking a few bites, I wish I had my own! The shell was flaky and sweet, and the cannoli cream wasn’t as ricotta-​based as I usually taste, making it a perfect combination of sweet and savory.

of course i have to check this place out if there’s a sign that says «free sample» at the door! i sampled the kettle, caramel, and cheddar popcorn. my favorite was the kettle — perfect mix of salty and sweet. the caramel and cheddar were also good. i have to admit that i went back for multiple samples, left with some fresh kettle corn that I ate on the beach, a large and a small bag of kettle corn, and a large bag of caramel corn for the road.
the store also has a variety of candies and fudge, which i did not get to try.

AHHHHHHHHHH, great popcorn man! White cheddar, kettle corn, and caramel they have it all here. Delicious, fresh and tasty popcorn, fudge, and other assortments of hard candy. They even carry your favorite football team tins to store large bags of popcorn. Staff is always pleasant and greets you with a smile.
Bring some extra floss, toothpaste and mouthwash because you will definitely need it after stopping past this place.

I LOVE this place!!! When I was staying @ the Hilton, I ran across the street just hoping to find somewhere for a quick snack. Never a huge popcorn lover, I walked into Jody’s after the aroma that floated out of the shop drew me in.
The moment I stepped in, I became a popcorn freak (hey popcorn is GOOD for you ;)). Kettle corn is always my favorite, though the white cheddar and sugar-​free caramel is yummy too!
I love this place because its great for gifts too – any size, any container, mix and match, sports team themes, colors galore, and fudge, candied apples, etc too.
Must go back to VA Beach one day soon — and until then, its online and on FB!

What is not to love about Jody’s Popcorn? Yes, it’s pricey, but it’s that good.
The smell alone of this Oceanfront store make me want to swoon. And it just looks cool inside – with big bright cartoony décor/​paint covering the walls.
I like the straight up caramel corn. I’m a purist. But I’ve tried the other varieties and they’re all delicious.
Jody’s is made right here in VB. «Jody» is Jody Wagner, former Virginia State Treasurer and Democratic candidate for Lieutenant Governor. But don’t hold politics for or against her. She makes damn good popcorn and she’s a successful small business woman. Hurray for her.

ATMOSPHERE: Cute little candy & popcorn shop that serves classic candies, M&M station with a rainbow of colors, fudge, caramel apples with whip cream on top, home-​made chocolates.
FOOD: We got:
1. White chocolate covered pretzel stick ($ 1.50) — yum! They also had more heftier ones with chocolate AND either peanut butter or caramel.
2. Popcorn (Big bag of popcorn $ 6, Small bags $ 3) — jalepeno cheese is very yummy. Strong flavor. They have all different selection like cinnamon toast crunch, kettle corn, original, caramel, caramel with chocolate, etc.
PERKS: Free samples of popcorn and fudge.
PRICES: Pricey but expected in a touristy location but it’s good quality, yummy stuff.
CONCLUSION: I would come back here again or the other location down the street near the Hilton at the Shoppes at Ocean 31. Maybe to try another popcorn flavor.
