I had shopped at this store for years. Sometimes the service was great, other times, I would walk in and a group of older ladies knitting at the table would just look at me like I had 3 heads as I would search for what I was looking for and no one would help until I was ready to check out. But it is the closest yarn store to my home, so I kept shopping there, even taught 3 other friends to knit and brought them in to the store to buy supplies. I had a gift card to the store, bought about a year ago. I tried to use it, and the sales clerk got a worried look on her face and said it wasn’t good. The owner(or manager) came over and told me that she was sorry, but that the gift cards were no longer good, and that I should have known that because they sent out emails and put a post on facebook and had a sign up in the store saying that they would no longer be accepted. I told her that the last time I had been in(about 2 months prior), I had used it with no problem, and that I didn’t think it was fair, since no one told me then, and it’s not like I stop in the store more than every few months. The owner then told me that the company that ran the gift cards no longer did gift cards, and it was out of her hands because she couldn’t check the balance. She said I could keep the card as a souvenir, but that it had no value. Stupidly, I left the card there, and still made the purchase. When I got home, I realized that I still had a second gift card, and went to the website on the back. Amazingly, they still do gift cards and I was able to check my balance online. So not only does this store provide spotty service, they are dishonest and don’t honor their own gift cards. I did some research, and in the state of Virginia, it is illegal for gift cards to expire unless an expiration is printed on the card itself. So if you find yourself in my same situation with your gift cards, you can file a complaint via the Virginia Attorney General’s office.

Exceptional ladies. Very kind and they even wind your yarn for you. Wish they were on the west coast.

I love yarn boutiques :-) I was so happy when I found this one after living here a year. As most yarn boutiques they are a little pricy compared to a chain craft store but I personally would pay a little more to support a local family than a little less to support a huge chain. The young lady that works there is super sweet and knowledgable. She definitely went above and beyond to help me and other patrons. The ladies hanging out to knit were so sweet and even tried to entertain my rambunctious one year old while I browsed. I have and will continue to return. Their yarn collection is small/medium Their accessory collection is medium. I just happened to come in during a great needle sale and love what I got :-) I haven’t been to the stitch n b*tch yet, if I can get my work schedule to coordinate I look forward to it :-)

I stopped into this store one weekend with my sister. She is an avid knitter and I am a knitter wannabe. They had tons of yarns to pick from and lots and lots of books to satisfy any desire of pattern you may be looking for. The store is well organized, set up in a modern fashion, clean and well inviting with a setting area and an area with a table to browse thru patterns. They also have different needles and other tools to choose from as well as other nifty supplies and cute stuffed animals made from alpaca hair. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and set me up on a great beginners project. They offer classes as well as a «Spa Night» and«Stitch and Bitch Nights».

How I love this place.* This is a cozy store in a busy shopping area. It’s got a great mural on the wall and a nice sitting area in the front of the store. Lots of gorgeous knitting on display, too. I am a sock-knitting freak and Knit Wits has the best selection around. Lots of small dyers, which I really appreciate. And Dream in Color Smooshy — oh, the colors! Be still my beating heart. Knit Wits has landed some awesome guest teachers — a few years ago, I took a toe-up sock class from Wendy Johnson(of ) that changed my life. Seriously. They seem to get lots of trunk shows and whatnot, which is cool too. There is quite a bit of novelty/fun-fur-type yarn, if that’s your thing. *In the interest of full disclosure, a friend from my knitting group works here.

Ladies were very helpful & nice. Prices about average for the brands & types they carry. Space is a little small but well laid out.

Sewing and knitting for dummies No, Knit Wits is not a tutoring service for dummies, but it is a nifty little place for the rocking chair crocheting grandmother in us all. Colored yarn, silky yarn, sweater yarn – this store carries miles of yarn in more varieties than I even knew existed. For those of us with two left thumbs, Knit Wit has some very nice already made knitting creations such as handbags, shawls, sweaters, baby booties and much more. With tons of sewing patterns and a talented and helpful staff, Knit Wits can help you make your own unique creations. There are not many stores that specialize in knitting and knit works, so if this is your passion or you just want to try a new creative outlet, drop by and get started at Knit Wits. They have classes and special events to teach you all the wonders of yarn. Exciting even if you are not yet in your golden years.
