When I first moved to the Virginia Beach area years ago I asked around for good places to go take pictures and a friend told me about Munden Point Park. Since then I have gone regularly to enjoy it. The park is very large, very clean and well kept and offers many different areas to explore and use. When my daughter was younger we would take her to one of the playground areas. And now that she is older we run around on one of the large grassy areas that flank the water and its beautiful vistas. The park lines the Intercoastal Waterway so you can see boats going up and down, and is perfect for lazy picnics and lounging. The park also offers many fields for athletics(softball etc), a large boat ramp, and woods to explore and geocache. I spent an afternoon recently just exploring the edge of the water with my daughter and all of the various kinds of local trees(bald cyprus trees). This park is perfect for family outings or larger groups adventures. When my sister visits from NJ I take all the kids there to play, but I could also see it as a great place to host a larger function or party and BBQ on the provided grills.

If you have the time and need the peace, trek out to Munden Point Park. It is a true hidden gem. It’s a waterfront park. So beautiful, and so many things to do. I celebrated the Fourth of July here. There are a lot of picnic areas with grills. You can rent canoes and kayaks, and still have plenty of room to fly a kite, play golf, or basketball. But I promise, the best thing to do is enjoy the view.

This is a beautiful well kept park! There’s Plenty to do to keep your whole family occupied. We were able to kayak, fish, play basketball, have a picnic, walk through the landscaped garden and since there was a boat ramp we were able to bring our jet ski! This place had it all! I remember coming here when I was little and now we want our little ones to enjoy the best park in Hampton Roads!

I love this park! I even love the drive through pungo to get here. They rent out canoes and kayaks for $ 10/hr(and aren’t very strict on the timing). They have areas to launch your marine vehicle & plenty of picnic spots. This park isn’t full of bells and whistles like Mt Trashmore but lets its natural splendor appeal to the senses(that and the smell of burgers grillin).

What a great park! We recently ended up down here for an event and I am so glad we made it out to discover this gem that we never knew existed. It is a bit of a haul out there but well worth it. We didn’t do much while there other than our intended trip but there appears to be a lot to bring one back. They have a cool 18 hole disc golf course, playgrounds, covered pavilions, and canoe/kayak launch and rentals. Even on a Saturday late in the morning, it wasn’t at all busy so it was peaceful and quiet. I definitely can see us going back out on a fall afternoon to spend the day outdoors. If you want to enjoy this great resource, head that way and have some fun!!!

This place is a nice retreat from the daily park grind. We are down near the oceanfront, and while Grommet Island is awesome, sometimes I just need a more laid back playground experience. I went to Munden Point all the time when I was little; my dad and my uncle took me fishing with them on many occasions. This past weekend I took my 2 year old and it brought back so many awesome memories, although its a big change without that huge monstrosity of a playground thing that used to be there. does anyone else remember that thing? Anyhow, it was nearly empty since it was chilly and cloudy but nonetheless, we hiked out to the waterfront, laid out our little picnic, and had a blast just watching boats go by and a guy fishing. There are three different playground areas close to each other, and there were also people playing frisbee golf. We really enjoyed our morning here, and really felt like we truly got away from our daily grind. We will definitely be back:)

I love this park, it’s a long drive but it’s quiet and there’s a lot to do. Well worth the drive!

Great place for all kinds of outdoor activities. Their 18-hole course has to be my second favorite in Hampton Roads area. Front 9 and back 9 are separated by walking across the boat ramps. They have playgrounds for the little ones, plenty of places to grill out, baseball fields, places to fish… It may be a small drive out there, but it’s worth it.
