Nola Blue

Spent the greater part of an afternoon getting a balayage done and I totally love the results! Going from dark to light made me nervous but the colour transition seems natural and wonderful, quite skillfully done. Jamie was really patient with me and insisted that I remain as long as was needed to get the look I was after. I am going to undoubtedly be coming back!

I get so nervous going to a new stylist because I have had so many experiences where they just do what they want and don’t listen to what I say. She did EXACTLY what I asked for and it looks even better than I imagined!
I got a partial balayage and hair trim– I know hair color can really add up (especially with balayage) so I spoke to her before I went in about trying to keep it under a certain price. She wasn’t pretentious about having a budget (like some places) and she was able to do just enough to stay within my budget but still make a huge difference on my hair.
She was also so fun to talk to and had such a great personality, I had such a good time there! I’ve been getting so many compliments on my hair so THANK YOU Marilyn!

Jamie corrected previous damage from other stylist and made my hair look beautiful! I went in for a partial balayage and mini hair trim. Her salon has a really cute style that made me feel comfortable and at ease. Her wash station has the most comfortable bowls and chairs so your not straining your neck, like you do at most salons. Will definitely remain loyal to her!

Just got the BEST color service I’ve ever had, bar NONE!
My hair isn’t easy to do. I have 90% resistant grey hair at the temples, and the rest is naturally a dark level ¾ brown. It’s been highlighted, colored, and processed to heck, too. LOTS going on, definitely not a job for an amateur.
Jamie, the owner, did a masterful light ash blonde with balayage highlights that looks like sun kissed natural blonde-​simply gorgeous!
I have never had such complete grey coverage, and such perfect tones before. I couldn’t be happier.
The cut and blow out are magnificent, too! Great volume, silky loose curl, just beautiful.

After just moving to the area from DC, I was worried about finding a stylist right away that could repair some of the damage that had been done previously. Nola Blue was my first choice simply because I get All recommendations through Unilocal.So I chanced it, made an appointment, and now I have found my new salon. The mess I walked in with has been transformed. Jamie is amazing. I showed her a pic and said I think I want this and she asked me a few questions about how much time I like to spend on my hair in the mornings, I said none, she said this is not the style for you. Honesty! Boy that was refreshing!
A few hours later I walked out with new hair. It looks and feels better than it has in years. The color is perfect! So natural looking and it all blends beautifully! The cut was amazing considering how much she had to take off to fix all the previous mistakes and help me get it back to something I don’t have to hide in a clip!
I would recommend Jamie to anyone and everyone! She is a pro at what she does and she is easy and awesome to talk to!

This is a review from a cut and color that I had done mid-​May. Update: my hair still looks fantastic, and the sun made the blonde notes even brighter, while still maintaining their cool notes.
I have nothing but good things to say about the stylists at Nola Blue. Jamie went above and beyond ensuring that my final result was exactly what I envisioned. I have naturally dark brown hair with chestnut highlights, but I wanted a transitional balayage that subtly morphed into platinum blonde at the ends of my hair; in other words, a more beachy ombré that didn’t look dip-​dyed like 75% of the ones you typically see walking around. The first time the tones were too warm for my liking, so Jamie graciously went in again and several hours later: voila. My hair was stunning, in both color and cut. I’m already researching what I want color-​wise for fall, and I can’t wait to see what magic Jamie works this time around.

So glad that I found this salon… my hairdresser of 24 years left with her husband for an overseas assignment and I was lost. I went to a couple of different stylists with recommendations from friends. Nothing really worked out. I recently just had my hair done with balayage and a haircut… but after about 2 weeks of trying to figure out what the hair stylist did in the back of my head, I knew that I needed to go and see a professional as the cut wasn’t sitting right and the color was fading fast and wasn’t lasting.
I actually Googled Balayage hair stylists in Virginia Beach and this salon came up. I actually drive past this place twice a day on my way to work. I emailed and asked for a consult. They said I could come in the same day and so I went.
Jamie took pictures and began running her hands in my hair. I showed her the picture that I had given the other stylist and honestly it really didn’t look anything like it. So, she came up with a plan and told me that I could come back the next day.
I went in yesterday and sat in the chair for 5 ½ hours. Yes, that’s how long it took for her to fix the mistakes the previous stylist had done. But when it was finished, it was honestly the best color and cut I have ever had. No joke, it was AMAZING!!!

Wanted to update my review after the change in name, etc. Still LOVE this place! Jamie and Marilyn are awesome at what they do! Just found out that Soroya is back as well. She is a must for your next blowout! You can not go wrong with anyone at this salon because Jamie hires the best. Just tried Balayage for the first time on my last visit with Jamie. It is much better than the old school highlights. Love all the products they sell as well. I am addicted to their spray-​in conditioner they carry. Best I have ever tried! It is «Pravana» Intense Therapy. They have a special on Groupon and a special if you check-​in on Unilocal

I am so lucky to have found this place! This was my first experience with extensions, and I was expertly guided through the entire process. Not only is the staff knowledgeable, but they’re fun! I can’t remember the last time I laughed so hard at a hair appointment! They understand that beauty treatments are for most a luxury, and the experience should leave you feeling refreshed and joyful. It’s hard to find a salon home when you move to a new place, but I strongly encourage you to try out Nola Blue!

I just moved here from San Diego and was very apprehensive about getting my hair done here since I saw the same stylist for the last five years but hey everyone needs a haircut right? So I made the biggest mistake and went to Regis at the mall but at the time was the easiest place to get right in since I went with my friend that was about to deploy so she needed something quick! THE WORST mistake ever… So today I was looking through Unilocal reviews and chose Nola Blue and made an appointment through Unilocal went in and saw Jamie which was the best decision! I got an all over color and she matched it up perfectly and even fixed the chop job I got at Regis! Loved my experience and will definitely be going back to Jamie… Needless to say I no longer have to look for a new salon because I FOUND IT!!! I definitely recommend Nola Blue!

My hair is amazing ! Jamie did such a good job. The color and cut are just what I asked her for. I will definitely be returning soon ! Very relaxing and laid back atmosphere. I got the oraplex hair treatment with my color and if feels better than when we started. Definitely would trust these ladies with my hair !!

I honestly cannot express how happy I am that these two ladies exist and are running this salon! Marilyn and Jamie are both amazing artists with many years of experience and certifications to back up their talent. My partner and I always go there for our men’s haircuts whenever needed and they never had let us down.
A small business that I would support 100% all the way! Not to mention that the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. Nola Blue really exudes the southern hospitality feel here in Hampton Roads!

If I could give these ladies 10 stars I would. To start with, I came in an hour early for my appointment, which I am sure totally threw off their schedule. But instead of turning me away and asking me to come back, they accommodated me. Everyone has grown up dreaming of the day they get to play dress up. That was me tonight, and these ladies helped make that happen. From hair to makeup, they made me feel like tonight I was the belle of the ball.

I am so grateful to have Jamie make my hair behave! She always finds the perfect color and cut to reflect my mood. I can just let her do what she does without a worry. Her other stylists are amazing also! It seems that education is a top priority with this team because they are always right on the cutting edge of trends yet embrace the classics perfectly. I just moved here from San Diego and I was looking for a cut and color & was at a loss for which salon I should go to. I looked online and then on Unilocal & found blush beauty bar. Awesome reviews & a 25% off services. Thinking to myself «too good to be true?» Well I called & was set up with a consult. I met Ray! He took his time looking at my hair, reviewing what I was looking for which was a ombré style. He advised me on what he could do & I was all in. He fit me in the next day. Got there– greeted with a smile, asked if I wanted a water, and sat right away for my apt. First and for most– the décor is so beautiful & comfortable. Everyone is beyond friendly but in a sincere way. All the stylists help eachother out and in courage and engage with their customers.
Ray spent his time coloring my hair — I could tell he really wanted my hair to come out awesome! His attention to detail is so skilled & and he does it all with a smile. While my color was developing he checked on me countless times making sure I was comfy. Time came to wash it out & start the cut. He fixed up all my edges and reviewed with me during the process which I really appreciated. He was educating me on my hair & keeping me updated on how he was cutting it.
Time to reveal & I was blown away. The balayage came out amazing. It was exactly what I was looking for. I can’t say enough about this place! Honestly– if you are looking for a friendly, talented group of stylist — come here! Worth every penny I spent. The prices are sooo reasonable for the service & atmosphere. I can’t wait to go back & thrilled that I found a salon I can go & be 100% happy with the result. This place is truly a gem! :-)

Once again a wonderful experience. Jamie used a new technique for my highlights called Balayage. The highlights are so soft looking and exactly what I asked for. She gave me a great consultation and I always enjoy spending time at the salon because it is so cozy and relaxing. This is now my 4^th visit to BBB and I’m sure I’ll be back!

Love this place! Interior is so cute, girly and quaint and the atmosphere is so relaxing! I came first to have my hair colored and cut by Haley. WOW! She gave me a great consult to make sure she understood exactly what I wanted. My hair turned out exactly as I wanted, a dark, rich chocolate brown and then she gave me a wonderful low maintence cut. I have paid DOUBLE at other salons and have left unhappy with my hair so I was over the moon about getting my hair done for a great price and LOVING how it turned out.
I had such a great expereince with my hair I made an appointment that day to come back for a dermaplane treatment. I love that they set you up with text reminders about your appointments, super helpful! When I had my treatment with Adrienne she made me feel so relaxed, my treatment and facial were amazing and I left Blush feeling renewed and beautiful!
Blush is now my go to for all my beauty needs! You will not leave disappointed! :)

Great little place for a wax! I’m new to the area and was looking for a place to get a Brazilian bikini wax. I saw on their website that Blush offered them. I called on a Tuesday and got an appointment that same afternoon w/​their aesthetician Adrienne. She was so sweet and funny, she kept me talking through the whole procedure so I barely noticed any discomfort. They also use some new wax type that’s less painful than other waxes I’ve used before, so the whole thing was very comfortable.
On the way out, Adrienne told me that they have discounts for packages of 4 bikini waxes (at least for Brazilians). They also offer facials (which I want to try!). Adrienne said that your initial «luxury facial» is $ 20 off for your first. Staff was very friendly. It’s a great place to get a Brazilian!

I started coming here when they first open as a result of my aesthetician opening this place up. Since I’ve started coming I have received nothing less than professionalism and kindness. I currently live out of town but when I do come to the area the staff is always willing to fit me in. The salon is adorable and clean! I will continue to return during each of my visits!
