Since Office Depot and OfficeMax merged, my accounts have been duplicated. I received an email for a $ 10 rewards certificate and wanted to redeem it. The cashier told me to go to the Print and Copy section of the store where«they’ll take care of it.» Ummm… I went over there, but they were busy and I didn’t have time to wait. So I went back to the register to pay for my merchandise. This location is depressing inside, and the staff seems unhappy. However, one guy greeted me from afar and asked if I needed help.

A little courtesy goes a long way. You may not like what you do with every job… Maybe you do. Maybe I just popped in at the wrong time when coverage was low and there’s a swarm of people asking for help. But in any case, courtesy goes a long way. Asking for one extra print when I realize you’re busy. Not the worst thing in the world but to set the expectation and imply that I may have to wait 20 minutes for a single print? Hey, print store, you’re better than that. Try a little harder. Make shit happen. Hustle a bit and get things done without making me(or anyone else) feel like I’m inconveniencing you when I waited three minutes at your counter with no one to be found. The lady who ended up printing my extra pic sure seemed happy when I checked out. If I had my «I’m a straight a-hole» look on my face then I apologize but surely no one wants to work with anyone who carries that RBF look in a customer service job. There’s another location with nicer people but I’ll stick to buying things online and will spend extra money on a printer, ink, and paper to not have to worry about your lack of self achievement at your job. Again, courtesy goes a long way. End rant.

My dealings were with the staff in the copy/print department. Very helpful and very knowledgeable. Skilled. I called about getting business cards made because I had seen an advertised special. My questions were easily answered over the phone. The lady recognized me as the person who had called when I arrived at the store later. She showed me several paper types/finishes and even did sample prints on a few so that I could make an educated choice. She explained that they would be ready in two days because only two people on premiss were trained to/allowed to cut the business cards and she was off the following day. I didn’t mind considering the Office Max used punch out card sheets, which I was not aware of when I placed the order). So I knew that the cards would be of good quality. My cards were of good quality. Nice clean cuts. Gloss paper finish in bright white(a little extra). And the card photos/graphic were crisp and vibrant.

It’s no Staples, but this place will do. Haven’t been to an Office Depot in about a year, because in Richmond, I was 5 mins away from Staples, which i wish we had in Hampton Roads. Anyway I digress. Not a bad store. But items, if not on sale, are on the steeper side, price wise. I do love me some good stationery and paper goods though. And pens/markers. An abundance of those items are always heaven to me. Today we just happened to get some groceries at Trader Joe’s, and before that, stopped by here because my bf was looking for planner inserts/refills. A bit steep in price, so he didn’t buy any. I found that a lot of the school supplies were on sale! I got 2 rulers for TENCENTS each! Yay! Also a pack of 2 heart-shaped post-its on sale for a dollar v the original 3.95! Score! Office Depot isn’t my first choice in office supplies stores, but if in the area, I’d shop here for whatever office/desk goods that I need.

I walked in and asked to look at laptops. And I asked what a core-i5 is on a lenevo laptop. I was told, it is an intel processor, it is pretty fast. What kind of answer is that?

I remember going into Office Depot and trying to peruse the myriad of pens around. But the last couple of times I have gone, the types of pens have decreased and I have been left purchasing pens that aren’t as high quality as before. Plus the pens seem to be located in several different sections… doesn’t make any sense to not just put it together. Good parking though!

Usually a good store but they’re sleeping with the new help. Now they’re out of single mailers and want me to buy a 16 dollars multi pack because they cannot open a package to put on their individual rack. Lame They cost more individually. So, they’re loosing money, lol
