I came in the store looking(all over) for super glue. I happened to find a nice deal on some packing tape and I picked up some ergonomic pencils(actually crap) too. After going all over the store(NO employees wandering around) I finally got in line to ask where the super glue was. It happened to be right there by the register, they only had the one kind too. I was ok with the prices of what I did buy(a lot of things were expensive, like a $ 18.99 pack of post its), but there could have been an employee on the floor. What if I had wanted a computer or a desk chair?!

What a sweet facelift this tiny strip has got… I mean amazing and to me it looks very appealing. I have been to this store prior to the renovation and with it a few times. The Town Center Market Place has right store that I count. Some of the tenants are AT&T, Subway, nTelos, Sweet Temptations Bakery and Super Cuts. I enjoy the location close to Town Center off of Virginia Beach Blvd. The store itself is pretty massive for an Office Max. I am unsure if this is the largest square footage wise in Virginia Beach, but would not be surprised if it is. The parking lot and front sidewalk area was in great shape. The exterior of the building’s renovation and paint is holding up great and I love pale yellow and white shutters. The store is comprised of two parts. The office supply and the printer center. They are connected. I have never utilized the printer center, so I cannot comment on this area. The office supply area consist of all the type of items you would expect and a whole lot of great selection. As well a small area of bottled water and food can even be found in the back. Today on my visit I was specifically looking for a pencil sharpener, easy right. Well, not so much since the store is so large. So, I milled around for around 10 minutes and saw no one on the floor to assist me, no one stocking… just NOBODY! Finally I did see an employee and he did a great job assisting me and answering my questions. The delay in floor assistance was troubling however. I did locate exactly what I was hoping to find. A top end commercial type of pencil sharpener. The checkout went very smooth and the clerk friendly which helped to make up for the poor experience on the floor. If I would have known the floor really well and did not need help my review could have been bumped up a star. But when you need help you should be able to depend employees being available to answer questions. I use this store to get admin swim meet supplies and have found them better on different days. I will be back, the location is excellent and the store usually has everything I need. But I hope today’s experience will not be duplicated.

I use this office max to get collages of children’s drawings laminated for my office. The last time I was in, two older ladies & a younger lady were working. They were busy & nobody acknowledged me until I flagged them down. One of the older ladies told me she’d have to do a work order because they couldn’t do it for me then. Luckily the younger lady, Zenola, came over & took care of it for me in less than 2 min and my total was a little over $ 9. Today it was the same experience with nobody acknowledging me until I waved them over, the lady that helped me said it would be 15 min so I told her nevermind because I was in a hurry to get back to work & it only took me 5 min last time… she told me it was basically too late because it was in the machine. after being completely annoyed, my total today was over $ 14. No service, no consistency, no thank you. I will never ever return to this location. Ever.

Most of the time they have whatever it is I’m looking for. Sometimes it might be hard for these places to really continue to be relevant. We have Wal Mart, Office Depot and other stores, it really all comes down to what you’re looking for and who has it on sale. If it’s not on sale what’s the distance /cost ratio to getting what you need in hand.

store seem a lil dated in some ways but if you stay on the staff the printing servies(where I go for rush orders) can actually be good. they will reprint it if you are not happy. the staff is very friendly but some of the print staff seems like they need more training on using the equipment. Last time i was there they had to print my order 10 times to get it right…(i’m sure they lost $$$ on my 67 cent order) on another note hopefully the«revitalization» of this area of VB will continue and other new businesses will come along I think they are trying to expand the town center feel to this shopping center as well. the huge(formerly an HQ) empty anchor store in this shopping center really needs a patron to bring this area around… there is potential here if someone just moves in…
