Service was terriable, waited 40 minutes for a disappointing meal. My beans were over cooked or old, my French fries were under cooked. My friends white meat chicken was more like dark meat duck. I would not recommend

Right now there is a decent power struggle among BBQ spots in the Hampton Roads. I do not think there is a clear favorite at this time. I will say this though, Rib City is a pretty damn good BBQ spot. Their prices are fair and every meal has been pretty good! The location has changed hands a few times but I think Rib City will be here for a long time!

We have made it our tradition to come here during the summer cookout holidays. I order either the chicken or turkey or the combination of both. I really like them both. For some reason the applesauce in here is devine. I guess their BBQ sauce is just the perfect pairing to the applesauce. One the table they have 3 different sauces. I prefer the original sweet over any others. But they are all good. The service is either hit or miss. I’ve had incredibly fast service and incredibly slow service. Guess it just depends on the server. But what is awesome is the manager on duty stops by every table and makes sure you’re enjoying your meal. So if the service is slow or your not satisfied with your meal let them know and they will make it right!

First off, I am in LOVE with ribs. Their prices are amazing for a rack and a half of baby back ribs. They had that smokey flavor and three BBQ sauces on the table to choose from. Not only were food amazing but our waitress was doing an amazing job coming back to check on us quite often and refilling drinks for us.

Randomly chose this place and it gave a great first impression. Clean, friendly, and the service was great! The food was very delicious and everyone agreed it was a great a spot for a hot BBQ meal. No wait and the staff and manager took great care of us. The specials were good and beer cold. New go to BBQ spot when I don’t want to fix supper.

It has turned into my go to spot, unfortunately my wife doesn’t feel the same. I love the 3 cheese fries with the spicy BBQ sauce and spicy mayo. The ribs don’t disappoint, I like both the St Louis and Baby Back style. Wednesday night $.50 beers. Brianna provides great service.

Maybe it was the lunch time rush on a Saturday but my food was cold when served. It took nearly 20 min to get our meals. Perhaps this was just an anomaly but I was not impressed. Slow service, bland food… won’t be back.

It was so expensive and the ribs was covered in bbq sauce, can’t even taste the flavor. Overall an okay place to eat ribs.

We came here because my fiancé was craving ribs really bad! I wanted to go for a lighter choice so I went with the chicken salad and just added a drizzle of their homemade sweet bbq sauce. Wow! It was soooo good! There were other homemade bbq sauces they offered but this one was definitely the best. The salad was just mainly romain lettuce so I do wish they added more veggies for the price. It wasn’t that big or filling so I had a side of fries. I was disappointed by the fries because I expected them to be amazing but they were nowhere near that. I tried one of my fiancé’s ribs as well and it was really flavorful! We were both full, but the waiter recommended the coconut pie and convinced us to get it. OMG!!! The pie alone is worth the trip here! It was soooo amazing and we will definitely be back for the pie and the bbq again.

This is another one in our work lunch rotation. Actually this is the second time I’ve come here this week… no judgement! Our server Martha, is great, I mean great! She always remembers us and our drink orders, most of the time our food order, and we usually come as a big pack. I always order the«Chicken on the Greens», which is just a grilled chicken salad, what’s money here are the two pieces of Garlic Toast that come with it and the honey mustard!!! Love the Honey Mustard. As far as appetizers, I like to splurge on the Onion Rings or the Buffalo Shrimp. When I’m ready for my cheat day, the Turkey Sandwich which is slammed between two garlicky pieces of toast, perfection. Who would’ve thought this place is this good? The décor is kinda old school but the food is great. The men’s restroom is a little awkward, but a great little restuarant. The staff are always friendly.

I’m really hoping this place is NOT a food chain. I don’t know how you people are giving this place 4 stars. I’ve eaten ribs in All the rib places around the country and if I had a chance I’d shut this place down. I was suspect when they didn’t have no MAC and Cheese or potato salad. Baked beans are horrible as well. Only side that leaves you with is like canned green beans and French fries. Please someone tell me the best place to eat ribs in VA Beach. Im just moving here from Hampton. I’m being honest with my food Critism.

Pretty Good Above Average BBQ Definitely real smoked bbq. Good sauce choices Tangy, Mustard, Sweet, or Hot, Everything was good but nothing was great or special. pulled pork was mushy and I wanted outside bark mixed in but the waitress didnt understand. The sliced pork I enjoyed more had more smoke flavor Brisket was good probably my favorite The ribs were small but good, already sauced with a sweet sauce not vinegar sauce sides were fair to good I think the garlic bread was enjoyed by all overall it wasn’t a big hit, but it wasn’t bad either

First I thought this was a local place and I was slightly disappointed then I realized it was a chain and I changed my mind. If it was a local joint I would have wanted to be blown away. For chain restaurants I expect that they have to meet corporate standards. Rib City is very corporate and as such this place meets chain standards. The service was terrific. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive. Our glasses were never empty and the food came quick. The food was cooked very well but it wasn’t as good as local BBQ. I thought the brisket was dry and the pulled pork serving was too small. The ribs were the highlight of the meal. They know what they’re doing with ribs. I can’t say that I’ll go back but I can’t tell people to stay away.

It has been a couple of years since we last stopped into Rib City. Thanks to my husbands colonoscopy we stopped here on our way home, he was starving. TMI? We could smell the smoker from the parking lot, it smelt delicious. The inside décor looked much cleaner and crisp since our last visit in 2012. We were seated immediately and Kellie was quick with the drink requests and menus. We each had ribs, he also had sliced pork. We shared succulent beans, best I’ve had in a very long time. The cole slaw was crisp with a very nice dressing. I can’t forget to mention the Texas toast. It was warm, buttery and perfectly toasted. If I had taken a picture to share with you it would have been of a pile of well cleaned bones.

Initially hesitant due to the dark shopping center, I’m glad I tried it! The ribs are a real winner. Previously, I’ve always been a big Frankie’s fan, and while Frankie’s still has a place in my heart and belly, Rib City stole their thunder tonight. For $ 8.99, I got a half rack of ribs, side of baked beans, french fries, and a large piece of Texas Toast. I also ordered a side of cole slaw for $ 1.79. While Frankie’s still has that amazing sauce, Rib City has a few different for you to select from and Xerxes was right, the spicy bbq sauce is great if you like to live dangerously. There was minimal grizzle on the ribs and they were so tender, they fell off the bone with minimal effort. They’re cooked in sauce but it’s not overpowering or too sweet like other rib places in the area. They weren’t drenched in sauce and the sauce was not salty or sweet, just really good. I also loved the charred pieces on the ends of the ribs and throughout the middle. The French fries were typical, but the baked beans were good. There were chunks of bacon and pork visible and they were lightly sweetened. The cole slaw, unfortunately, was definitely not my favorite. The slaw was too sweet for my taste. Out of curiosity, I looked them up online and actually found that they are a chain/franchise based out of Florida and this is the only location opened in Virginia even though they are in other states such as Colorado and Washington. All in all though, service was friendly and quick. The restaurant was cleaner than I expected it would be based on the shopping center, and they have excellent specials. We will definitely be back!

Dinner time, I was immediately seen to a table and my waitress stopped by a few moments later to tell me about the specials and take my drink order. By the time she returned with my beer, I was ready. The«ribs and ribs» combo with baked beans and a baked potato. It wasn’t long before the food arrived as it really only needed to be plated up. The ribs were not *great* but they were good. Very meaty and just about fall-off-the-bone. The sauce on the ribs didn’t taste«right» and they seemed dry anyway. You kinda know that a place isn’t really confident in their ‘cue when there’s sauce on the table. And another squirt bottle of their«tangy with Tabasco» was delivered with the meal too. The potato was perfectly fluffy, the highlight of the meal. I thought beans were too smoky. But this is VIRGINIA, not North Carolina and so perhaps there’s a certain amount of slack that should be cut. A-OK, not a fan.
