DON’T DO A ½ DAYTRIP!!! It is nothing but a 6-oz croaker cruise. We were mislead by the glorious pictures of bountiful fish on their website. The intent of this ½-day trip is to catch 6-oz croakers… nothing more. The captain will call onto the radio and tell you about other fish of legend(flounder/trout) but you will not catch these fish. The largest fish caught out of three 35-passenger boats was an 8-oz croaker. And since the unsuspecting novice fisherman from far and wide don’t bother to ask for the truth before sliding his credit card, Rudee charters will continue to offer these joke charters. I’m sure they laugh behind our backs but hey, people keep showing up so what are they going to do, tell them to go to the pier for a better chance to catch fish??? Not when you’re willing to give them $ 40 plus crew tip. You will catch fish too small to fillet(as proved by the guys we paid $ 15 plus tip to fillet these tiny fish). We were later refunded that amount because well, you shouldn’t even try to filet fish Rudee charters wants you to catch on ½ day trips. Rudee’s subsidiary company should stop this practice or learn how to filet tiny fish. In the end, my party dropped $ 40×3+$ 25(crew tip)+$ 15(filet)+$ 5(tip)=$ 165 That’s a hard lesson that I hope many people will learn from. If you are reading this, good for you. You just saved yourself a ½ day of catching aquarium fish and a ½ day of being pi$$ed off and a lot of embarrassment showing family members at home. And you know the jokes won’t stop for a while. We actually considered going to the grocery store on the way home and picking up some halibut or salmon. LOL. One good thing was the crew did their best running around untangling everyone’s line and icing down our 6-ouncers. To be fair, we got one 7.5 oz behemoth that they seemed really impressed with. Note: weather was great and was not a factor in the limited catch. After a phone call, a Captain confirms the intent of these ½-day trips is simply to load up on these tiny fish and offers no refund for the trip. He only suggests that we should have done the full day cruise. Great, Captain Skippy, good resolution.
