Had friends with us on dinner date night. They had not been there before. The food was really good. Service was ok. The piano man was very good. Overall we enjoyed the night. Normally we get carry out. Will come back for Chinese food next time we want and to eat in.

I really, really, REALLY wanted to find a GOODQUALITY sit down chinese resturant. I dont think this is it. and its expensive for the quality. The place is busy so there is some popularity here so maybe it was an isolated visit. The best of beach awards had to be due to lack of competition. So heres what I found… The Pu-Pu platter was average… very average. The eggrolls were good, as was the tempura shrimp and fried wonton. The pork ribs were burnt, the grilled beef tasted only of plum wine. I wont revisit the platter but it served as an appetizer taste test. I ordered the Almond Chicken. This is my favorite chinese dish and the hardest menu item to find. What I recieved was Moo Guo Gai Pan with almonds sprinkled on top. Its was a tasty disappointment. My partner got Hunan Beef. It tasted heavily of plum wine(wtf…thats NOT an ingredient). It had so much corn startch that the sauce was a super thick gravy. It didnt taste a thing like any Hunan I have EVER had… it was awful. I will absolutely not eat any beef dishes there because all the beef is soaked in plum wine… it prolongs shelf life of the beef and makes cheap cuts tender. Crappy quality when paying 17 – 18.00 for a single dish with no soup etc. I may try it one more time to validate those Best of the Beach wins but so far, there are better take out places for a lot less. Spent 58.00 for the appetizer, two regular entrees, and water.

Went to Imperial Palace for a late lunch(3:00 pm) and walked into a full dining room on the left side of the restaurant, the room on the right side was completely empty. It literally took 10 minutes for anyone to acknowledge me. Finally, I caught the eye of one waitress who seated me in the empty room. I was fine with that however I was not fine sitting there for 15 minutes without seeing a waitress. I also noticed the place was very dark to the point of turning on the flashlight on my phone to read the menu. Finally, a waitress did come over and I quickly ordered a cup of hot and sour soup and schezuan beef with fried rice. When the waitress brought out the soup, it looked really good, nice and a rich brown color however it lacked that richness in taste. Would I order it again? Probably not. The schezuan beef was very tasty with the right amount of heat for me. The fried rice was inedible though. It was just this really dark brown color with a funky flavor and no vegetables at all. I had the waitress take it back and bring me some steamed rice. The wait to be seated and order was very annoying and with just okay food, Imperial Palace will not be on my radar to go to again.

Excellent food, way over priced, and not very good at running their business. Don’t try using the coupon on their extremely poor website, they don’t honor their own coupon. There are way too many other Chinese restaurants out there that WANT your business.

I went here on a sunday night at about six for a birthday party. They set us up our own little area which was cool. After we were all seated the waitress came and started taking drink orders. She took maybe 4 peoples drink orders then came back with their drinks and just gave everyone else water. I guess a party of 12 was a bit much for her. She came back and just started taking appetizer orders, once again from three or four people and then left. Finally, i guess the owner came over and started taking orders as well. I was at the far end of the table so it was a while before i could order a drink, so i decided to just stick with the water I got and order my appetizer and dinner while she was there so i didnt have to wait another 15 minutes. I ordered the shrimp egg roll and the sweet and sour pork. The menu was insanely pricey, but i guess youre paying for the ambience of the building which wasnt bad. Nice decorations. My egg roll came out rather fast, with a tray of duck sauce and wasabi mustard, which was more wasabi than mustard. The egg roll was ok. The outside was light and crispy, the vegitables were crispy on the inside, the shrimp was a little undercooked but thats ok. I got my sweet and sour pork, which had onions and green peppers mixed in. They had the sweet and sour sauce on the side. I was a bit disapointed with it to be honest. For 14 dollars, they could have seasoned the pork a bit. It was pretty bland and a bit overcooked. The sweet and sour sauce, was super thick, close to the consistency of jello. They also brought me a bowl of steamed rice. Overall, the meal was ok, but not worth the 20 dollars i had to pay for it. Ive had better at small time chinese take out places. I guess i just expected more from all the positive comments. If you like strong alcoholic drinks, and large quantities of food then this is your place. If you like flavor and service, probably not.

I have always loved Imperial Palace and last weekend I remembered why! My husband and my friends surprised me for my birthday on 10⁄31 by herring together at Imperial Palace. It was a beautiful family style set up so that we could all converse even though there were 15 of us. The service was amazing. The owner came out and helped us answer any questions we had about the food and recommended a few superb dishes. When I inquired about the hot and sour soup I was disappointed that it contained pork however she had a batch made without pork for my friends and I. It was absolutely delicious! For that matter, all of the food was delicious. The portions are also very generous so you will definitely can have your fill and have some to take home. There was a pianist there who made the evening fantastic by playing Happy Birthday as my friends sang to me. He also recognized that we had children in our group, so he played Let it Go from Frozen and It’s A Small World to keep them engaged. It was a fantastic night with good food, good ambiance and good friends! Thank you Imperial Palace for maintaining such a wonderful establishment.

This place has great ambiance for a date night, beautiful décor & private booths, & our server was very attentive. I have to agree with another reviewer & say that their food is just a few notches above Americanized Chinese take out. Also, it was kind of strange to find peas & diced carrots inside crab rangoon, while the crab was undetectable. If I was in that area I would eat there again but wouldn’t go out of my way to go back. For the price, you can have twice the amount of authentic Chinese cuisine at Peter Chang’s or Judy’s Szechuan.

The restaurant was lovely and our waitress friendly and helpful. We ordered a dish for two, I believe it was Seven Stars Around the Moon. Wow! It was tremendous. Several delicious dishes, each a gem by itself. The lumpia were the best we’ve had anywhere. Best Chinese food we’ve had in years.

Food was good the atmosphere is very nice. But the crab soup is unbelievably expensive. I used the coupon they provided from Unilocal, but it does not specify on the coupon that you can only use it for the Dinner menu. But other than that food was good enough.

The Governors Chicken was wonderful! This is a traditional Chinese restaurant of the sort I remember from my childhood in NY. The plates have blue Chinese motifs and the décor includes a fair number of golden dragons. The food is the best of the Chinese style I have had in many years.

Excellent Chinese food! Some of the prices are a little on the higher side for Chinese, but the steak special that I ordered was excellent! The service was very good too! You’ll find white tablecloths to give it a classy feel, but the hostess/owner didn’t look upset when we walked in with casual summer attire. It’s close to home, so we’ll definitely be back or be picking up food for home.

Very good by pricey food, with mediocre service. Had a reservation for 8 people. We’re placed at a table only big enough for 6. That set the mood for a bad experience. No room for plates, bowls of rice, drinks etc. Drinks were weak. My zombie was made like a Shirley Temple. Food much better than a Buffet. Menus are old and sticky to the touch. Avoid the Hong Kong wonton soup, extra charge but only had bock chop and broth. Service not up parr, but they were busy in my section.

In my opinion, Imperial Palace is average at best. The restaurant is very beautiful inside and is the perfect setting for a date night. The service is top notch, but that doesn’t make up for the less than impressive food. Went for dinner recently. Was taken back when the owner approached the table with business cards that had printed instructions on how to vote them into best of the beach. Wow, I think if your place is good enough to win the honor, it will. Why cheapen yourself and offer deals only to get people to vote for you? I’ll take my business to Peking Duck, Judy’s, Jade Villa, or Peter Changs any day of the week. Overall, I would say that Imperial Palace offers chinese food that is just a hair better than your average take-out place, but nothing to write home to mom about.

I thank you all for the other day. My friends loved the food I got for takeout. And now they want to use me as a delivery driver to bring them imperial palace food. I guess the secret is out. They will not get another delivery from me again. they can go themselves. No MSG in all the menu so I am happy to have health as the main concern even as the food is very good. Everyone is professional and the staff has longevity at this establishment. The food is always the same and never tastes different. It is prepared with measurement I presume. I will eat at imperial palace quite frquent

I worked rather late last night so I didn’t have any time to make any dinner. Sure, I could have easily gone for the take-out Chinese, but I thought I would take it up a step with The Imperial Palace. While I did take my dinner home, I did spend a few moments checking out the place. It’s quite large inside. The décor is nice. It’s a little dark inside but it had the quiet Chinese, date night restaurant feel. What I liked was that it had a very local and neighborhood feel. As for dinner, I took home lemon chicken and Singapore-style beef. The quality of the food was certainly better than fast food Chinese but not quite with the«authenticity» I was hoping for. The chicken was a little dry. My beef dish was decent. The menu said it was spicy but I didn’t find it to be anything close to spicy. Not so sure about going back. The choices of actual Chinese are slim around here but I can’t put this one on my good list.

Heard about this place from a friend. He recommended we stick with the specials which we did. Soft shell crabs; just battered fried, no seasoning or sauce(ok), roasted salmon(very good), ginger sea bass(delicious!). We put that ginger sauce on the soft shell & that made it much better! Love in was very tasty. Their mustard was very spicy! Loved it. Zombie for two was huge & tasty if not a little sweet. but straws are annoying. Our waitress Sue was very accommodating and solicitous(she cut them down for us). Live pianist on Saturday nights played Jazz standards. Almost forgot: got a Unilocal discount when I checked in 15%! Will I return? Probably but I won’t run.

I was extremely happy to find this restaurant, it was the best Chinese food I have had in a very long time. Pricier than the others I go to, but worth it. Pretty & romantic restaurant, and the staff were all friendly However, I ordered from here last week. 2 major things wrong with my order. I ordered fried rice with onions only. It had ZERO onions. The second was my rice was burnt! Large clumps on burnt rice that makes me wonder how they missed it, or just didn’t care enough to replace it. Both inexcusable. It was late. So I emailed them, yet heard nothing back. I started picking though it, but the burnt taste made it inedible. Had to throw it away. Sad and very disappointed. Don’t think I will be returning.
