The only sushi spot I go to in Visalia. The fish is so fresh and Albert puts just a touch of ingredients to enhance and complement the flavors that are just mouth watering. Highly recommend to everyone

Sushi Kuu is outstanding! Albert is the chef/owner and he is as talented as he is friendly. Sushi Kuu is my new go to place in Visalia! Try the Butterfish role! It’s a meal by itself but you won’t be able to stop there!

this is the best sushi by far!!! so impressed. the flavors are beautiful and thoughtful and the new owner(S) have years and years of experience in the art of making sushi. albert comes from a michelin star restaurant in new york. tell your friends if they want real sushi to go to Sushi Kuu. this is not the super size of sushi, this is excellence. great service, easy location, fairly priced and melt in your mouth food. Thank You Sushi Kuu… I don’t miss San Francisco as much because of you.

Only sampled the ramen so far and it was decent. A bit pricey for a bowl of ramen, tho. But it seems to be the only ramen in town worth mentioning. Service was good. Will try some unagi and other sushi next time I visit. Came back for dinner and ordered some karaage, unagi, rock roll, chicken katsu, yakitori… All pretty good. The rock roll was just about the same as I would get in Japan and Okinawa but just a hair off… But probably the best of what we had for dinner… Will definitely eat that again. Overall, a bit pricey compared to what we paid overseas… A large bowl of tonkotsu ramen, small plate of chicken fried rice, 3 – 4 pieces of karaage and a soda cost under $ 10US depending on the yen rate but never more than 15… but when in Rome… Service was excellent for dinner… Not that it was less so at lunch, but it seemed more timely and accommodating.

If I could give 10 stars I would! Albert the owner has a true passion for what he does and that shows in his food served. I have never had anything less than exceptional here! The best and most fresh sushi in town by far.

I would give 4 except for consistency… been delicious several times, but the other night they clearly had not cleaned their knives after slicing lemons. Everything tasted like lemon, and it turned the tuna a dark, non appetizing color.

Friendliest restaurant in town. They truly care and take pride in their sushi creations. I love how nice they are and the best part, their sushi is to die for. I could live off their lemon drop. Thank you for offering the best to us.

I found this place on Unilocal and I’m very happy that we picked this place. We found the sushi to be fresh. The owner was the nicest man who made our visit delightful. I have to visit Visalia once a month and I have decided to make sure I eat here on my monthly trips.

After a long day of driving to Yosemite and back we ended our visit with Sushi and it was so good. The place is in a shopping center and the atmosphere is casual and nothing special but comfortable and oh my, the Sushi really is good and I’ve had some good Sushi. The service was good and it was just a great trip with great company. I’d go back again and recommend this place. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food and it all looked amazing. Of course my kids knew what to order and their choice looked best. But my Rainbow roll was one of the best I’ve ever had! Fresh and tasty and quick service!

Great food. I’m by no means a sushi expert, but I do have taste buds… Haha… this place is amazing… The lemon drop roll smh, in a class by itself… I’ll be back… again and again.

Eat here whenever you can. My girl and I agree that this is not just our favorite sushi restaurant but probably our favorite restaurant all together. Ocean trout(a favorite of mine) was on the«specials» board so I had 2 generous pieces for $ 6, the Firebomb roll($ 15) was to die for and worth every penny if you enjoy spicy like we do, and my Hachi was loaded with avacado and tuna. I cannot tell you how great the service was. The owner/chef Albert and his wife(we didn’t get her name but will next time) are a charming couple, friendly and very gracious hosts. The ambiance was friendly and vibrant mostly due to their disposition and outgoing personalities.

After a successful work meeting in Visalia I decided to treat myself and found this sushi bar on Unilocal(duh). I sat at the bar and ordered the omakase. The chef(and also the owner) was excited to prepare this for me. I ended up talking to him and it turns out he used to be a sushi chef in NYC at Neta! He did an amazing job with the preparation by adding a hint of flavor to each sashimi piece. It was so good! Im hoping I can come here again if I’m ever on business in Visalia once more.

The chef and owner, Albert, is an awesome guy. I did a sit down at the bar, and ordered the chef’s special from a friend’s recommendation. What a great experience! He treated us to a seven-course meal. I don’t remember the names of the plates, but the fish were on point, they were cooked to perfection, the flavors were good and the presentation was well curated. The best sushi in Visalia.

Sushi Kuu is one of our favorite places to eat period. We’re from Orange Country, so we’ve had some pretty good sushi. Sushi Kuu rivals the best of the best we’ve ever had. We haven’t visited another sushi place in Visalia since we tried this one(ESPECIALLYNOT a certain other Japanese restaurant in Visalia that is stupidly kitschy and has poor quality and high prices). Items we’ve ordered: Alaska roll Salmon katsu Pork katsu Sashimi dinner Poke salad Items we didn’t like: Nothing Chef Albert clearly takes great pride in his work and pairs flavors with sashimi we’ve never experienced. The sauces and add ons with the sashimi elevates flavors to whole other levels. The sesame noodles that come with the katsu are delicious, and the sashimi is incredibly fresh and tender and makes me salivate whenever I think about it. Presentation is beautiful, service is on point, and most importantly, the food is FRIGGIN’ BOMB.

I have tried every sushi bar in Fresno multiple times. So for our anniversary dinner, my boyfriend and I wanted to try something different. And after searching on Unilocal we drove 45 minutes to Visalia to Sushi Kuu after seeing pictures of the chef’s beautiful work and we were not disappointed. I had the omakase and was amazed by the beautiful presentation of EVERYTHING and all of the small little details. The chef even made a point to come over to our table, hand deliver my 4th course and apologized for the wait(it wasn’t a long wait at all and it got pretty busy so we didn’t mind). But he came to our table and explained every sauce that he HANDMADE with ingredients from local farmers(one even came in to drop off a box while we were dinning)! And explained where all the fish was imported from(Spain, Greece, etc). One of the best parts was definitely the miso glazed black cod with the Peruvian pepper sauce. Overall, beautiful presentation, delicious food and great and friendly service! I will definitely be making the 45 minute drive more often!
