Very good food, very nice atmosphere, very nice tea selection. However, the price for a meal is simply too high for what is provided. This restaurant charges big city prices in a small city. The serving sizes are gourmet(petit), but the flavor simply isn’t.

I made a reservation for 6 to sit downstairs for dinner. We arrived 30 minutes early for drinks upstairs. We were told there were no tables available downstairs which is a cool pub like atmosphere. About 1 hour later we were able to move down below. Drinks were very slow coming out but otherwise good service. Although everything was very slow we were fine having a great time enjoying conversation. The disappointment was the meal. Hopefully it was just a bad night but we felt like they were just playing catchup all night and just trying to get food on the table at all cost. Of the six entrees, the cedar plank salmon was off the hook with awesome flavor and perfectly cooked. Three pasta dishes were very poor, cold and lacked flavor. I had the prawn pasta which was overcooked to the point of having a burnt flavored red sauce and rubbery cold shrimp. The wife’s pasta dish was bland and just loaded with an excessive amount of cream and little flavor. Another pasta dish was bland, cold and came out 20 minutes after the rest of the dishes. We have eaten breakfast here for years and always enjoyed it. Someone needs to ensure quality is coming out of the kitchen for dinner consistently. Having said all that, this is a very nice place that we will return to. We have had many good meals here but we hit a bad night. Servers are always very thoughtful and do a good job. I still recommend the Taz and we will return.

So glad I stopped!!! Warm friendly staff, my coffee is delicious and my breakfast burrito is fantastic! I ordered to go, but would be a great place to sit and get work done or eat with friends. I will be back!

I spent a whole afternoon at this cozy café while I waited for my husband to finish a meeting. I got green tea in a fancy Japanese pot served with a beautiful teacup set. Ok, fine, I had it with a brownie, too, which I devoured with alarming speed. The entire staff was super friendly with me even though I was there for an extended period and was not ordering a big meal. They have wifi and what looks like excellent food. I wish I’d been able to stay there, since they have a prix fixe menu on Tuesday nights — next time!

Ate here for the first time today(Nov 14, 2015). It was pretty busy but by the time the food arrived it was worth it. The waffle was dense and delicious & had a scrumptious buttermilk flavor. The bacon had a great smoky flavor. The eggs were cooked exactly as I asked them to be. Over all I was very pleased with the food and the service. I cannot wait to come back to try more food and drinks here!

A lovely pastry café with loose leaf tea options. Hidden bar lounge below(opens at 4) where you can also order drinks and from a selected menu. Clean and cozy environment with indoor and outdoor seating. Prices are comparable to Starbucks — but it’s nice to have a delicious local alternative.

Last night my husband and I ate at Tazzaria. We had the Tuesday Supper Fixe — a 4 course dinner for $ 27/person. I almost felt guilty paying $ 27. It was worth so much more than that. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and very professional. When were seated at our table the first thing we noticed was a white stone with my husband’s name on it(the reservation was under his name). A small personal touch that made us feel welcome. Our courses started shortly after we arrived. They were served one after the other, but we were never rushed nor had to wait for the next course. Not only did our waitress check on us, the manager did also. The chef even came out and served some of the courses. The food was incredible. Fresh, perfectly cooked, beautifully plated and tasted absolutely wonderful. The chef and kitchen staff are truly artists. I can’t wait until we go back for dinner again and am excited to try breakfast and lunch. I would recommend Tazzaria to anyone wanting top quality food in a comfortable setting. It’s not just another stuffy fancy restaurant serving the same old food. Visalia is lucky to have such a wonderful restaurant.

An amazing place to breakfast — the food is incredibly fresh, and the homemade pastries are so good you’ll take some to go. This is one of my favorite places to eat breakfast or lunch in town. The staff are always friendly and I can count on the food being above and beyond what I expect. That being said, if you like greasy diner type cooking, there are plenty of those places in Visalia! This, thankfully, isn’t one of them.

Great first impression! We’re new to the area and took a shot at Tazzaria based on its Unilocal rating. Thankfully, previous reviewers obviously had excellent taste. Décor is casual hip. We didn’t go downstairs to the bar, but our server told us it’s a fun, creative space with unique happy hour themes — Thursday night was fried pickles and fried PB&J. Our meals were DELICIOUS! I had the seasonal risotto and my wife went with the filet and prawn special. Trust me, it was a meal full of «Mmmmmm’s» and«Oh my God’s!» We’ll definitely be back.

IMPORTANTTHINGSTONOTE: If you’re coming here to be picky and change the menu around(whether it’s their food, coffee, etc) you’re better off going to Starbucks or Burger King where you CAN ‘get it your way’. If you’re not a control freak, and want some top quality food, let the chefs/baristas do their job and create something awesome for you! My husband and I came in about a month ago and I’m finally getting around to reviewing it. Luckily, I still TOTALLY have the flavors of the food in mind. My husband and I walked in after reserving a table for two. His name was written on a cute little rock and it was placed right at the center of the table along with fresh flowers. The customer service was exceptional. We were waited on right away. The waiter came out to give us the specials and was very knowledgeable about their food choices and the ingredients. As an appetizer we ordered the olive tapenade with the artisan bread. The tapenade was delicious but the portion of bread was too small. A few extra slices would have sufficed. My husband ordered a Half Dome(Tioga Sequoia) pint and I ordered a lavender earl gray infused vodka sweet tea. It was yummy, however a tad bit on the sweet side. For dinner, my husband ordered the Wood fired Rib eye steak topped with chimichurri(I don’t remember the exact description) with the potato wedges. We’ve had some terribly cooked medium rares, so when the waiter asked how he wanted it cooked, he said pink in the middle, and lo and behold it came out perfect. I ordered the Seafood Pasta which had a spicy marinara sauce. The noodles tasted like they were from scratch and very fresh. It was a good portion. The price came out below $ 100 including tip(before heading downstairs to the bar)… and though most people expect a bigger portion for that price, it’s important to note that the ingredients are high quality and fresh. Living with a chef and being a foodie, I am spoiled. It’s hard going OUT to dinner knowing I can get top quality food at home. This place is worth going out for!

There is much to like about Tazzaria — and much to shake one’s head about. The food is good, especially at dinner, where they come up with different stuff all the time. The desserts are wicked in the way they stare at you and beg you to eat them. Coffee and tea are excellent if you are just stopping in or meeting someone. Lunch is good, but the variety could be better. Being a vegetarian I always end up getting the veggie burger, which is OK but nothing to write home about. So, what’s not to like, if not love? The people. They are goofy, and i’m being nice in how I say that. They get orders wrong or mixed up. Servers are lousy about answering questions. Once they could not figure out how to ring up my order on the cash register — it took three people to do it. And do not get them to do a party or catering event for you unless you don’t mind them showing up very, very late. Because they will. I have seen it now twice. There will not be a third time for me using them this way.

Our local friends had told us how much they loved Tazzaria and being that we recently moved here, we needed all good local spots we could get. Finally made it in for breakfast. Ordered at the counter and a waitress brought us our drinks and meals. One word. Delicious! All fresh ingredients, lots of flavor and good portions. Can’t wait to try dinner here soon.

I came here in search of a sweet snack and a cool beverage. This place popped up on my Unilocal radar and it looked promising. When I arrived, I checked out their menu board and asked a couple of questions. There was a drink on the menu called a Tea Latte and it sounded promising. It’s a latte, but rather than have coffee you have tea… you get the point. I was able to pick out the flavor of tea for my drink(forgot the name now) from a variety that they had placed in glass jars lined across the counters. They have some very interesting, and pungent flavors. I picked mine, and the guy went to work making it. It was a hot day, and I did not was a hot drink… so I asked if the guy could make my drink an iced latte. The poor guy seemed so confused, he said to me ‘well its hot and when it comes out it is going to melt the ice.’ So he made my drink, let it sit on the counter for a few minutes and then poured it over ice… He may as well have poured it down the sink as far as I was concerned because the drink was HORRIBLE!!! OMG it was GROSS!!! I was thinking ‘latte’ and most of the time lattes are served with at least a hint of sweet to them, at least any place I have ever been. This thing was like drinking muddy water. There was no sugar whatsoever, it was just the brewed tea, and very weak at that and then some lowfat milk poured over it… that’s it!!! This abomination was over $ 4, but I had no qualms about throwing it right into the trash. I tried adding sugar to it, but I just could not bring myself to drink it, it was just that bad. I also tried some bakery treats that were dry and unforgettable. I have not been back to this place since, and unfortunately is not on my list of places that I could recommend at this point. I will update my review at a later date if I return to try other items.

The husband and I wanted to give the place a try for dinner and wine on a Thursday evening. They were somewhat busy(a good sign). Well after being ignored completely in their downstairs pub; by waiter and bartender we thought hmmm lets go upstairs. And after sitting at a table on the patio and still no sign of life; we decided to spend our money around the corner to have fantastic service and wonderful food. So let’s just say Tazzaria is not on our to do list.

By far my favorite restaurant. I absolutely love the food here, they really put in the time and the effort in creating every dish. It has a quaint atmosphere, great wine and craft beer selections. They have a different special everyday, depending on what the farmers market have to offer. If you love food, you have to check this place out!

One of the cutest places in Visalia, Tazzaria, is the perfect spot to enjoy coffee, study, or grab lunch with your friends. The chicken pesto wrap is kinda amazing, and the service is always great. Downtown could use more places like this!

Wow. First time I’ve ever had pizza that made me blush. Seriously. Ordered the Carbonara pizza and my taste buds were in heaven. Truly recommend. Will return, even if I live an hour away. So happy I stopped by.

Haiku macaroon review: Beautiful mountains // Beneath a chocolate crust // Hides golden treasure // Tazzaria’s is a nice find in Visalia, with a younger vibe reminiscent of a popular café you’d find in a more happening area. The prices can be a little high, but the food is advertised as green, local, eco friendly, free range, ect, which may justify the price for you. I tried several items on the breakfast menu, all of which tasted absolutely stellar. The oatmeal was of a quality nice enough to justify being on a restaurant menu. The best item I’ve had so far is the breakfast burrito, which, in my opinion, was much more satisfying than the oatmeal. The chocolate-covered macaroons here are AMAZING. One of the best desserts I’ve had in recent memory. They were so delicious that they themselves deserved a haiku homage. I wish I could distribute these to everyone I love, so they could experience the pure ecstasy that is the Tazzaria macaroon.

Not a good experince. Walked into the establishment and asked if they had a bar(I eat alone.) That was fine. Walked downstairs and ordered an IPA. Was presented a menu and then waited for a bartender to take my order. After watching one of the bartenders change the beer menu board without recognizing me, I asked a young woman if she could take my order. She was friendly but then said I cannot order from the menu on Tuesday nights at which point she cuffed the bartender for giving me and the couple next to me a menu. Had my heart set on a small pasta dish. Will not be back again. F
