A Kut Above is now located on Broadway just west of Indiana in downtown Vista.
Sis Chokben is still there and is still as wonderful as ever. I have been going to her for years and her haircuts as well as color and highlights are the best I have found. She is such a terrific, caring person as well. I highly recommend Sis for any of your hairdressing needs. The salon itself is warm and inviting and there is parking right on the street in front of the location.

A Kut Above is located in downtown Vista. It is where my favorite hair stylist is. She had been styling my moms hair since I was a wee lass and after I grew out of my cutting-​and-​dying-​my-​own-​hair-​for-​funsies phase, I entrusted Sis Chokben’s expertise to mature-​me-​up with a sweet new ‘do.
She’s very personable and always keeps up with what’s going on with the family as we talk shop while she washes my hair and preps me for whatever style she has in mind. She really pays attention to detail and she makes it okay for you to feel like you have a say in how your hair turns out. If its not quite right, I can tell her where it needs to be fixed up and she gets the job done. But this is a rarity since she knows me so well to be able to just go with the flow.
Sis had actually done my hair for my senior prom, graduation, and my brother’s wedding. So we go waaaaaaay back.
She styles it up and dusts you off and you’re on your way. I’ve recommended my friends to her and when I go in for a new style she’s very gracious and thanks me for the referrals. For something like layering and styling its about $ 30. And for the craftsmanship, durability, and the overall experience, it’s worth it.
And now that there’s a Sonic right in front of A Kut Above, it’s a like hitting two birds with one stone. A delicious delicious stone. And by stone I mean tater tots. I love tots.
