First time pawning anything. I called ahead and spoke to Angel about the process of selling my things, and prompty came in. Mervin looked over my items and was kind, courteous and fast. I was in and out in 15 minutes and they purchased my three rings from me for $ 115. Granted, it’s a fraction of the original price I had paid, but hey — I got cash in my hand for bills that I needed to pay, and they’re trying to run a business too. All in all a great experience and I will definitely be back in the future.

I’m glad I didn’t read reviews before walking in here on impulse while doing laundry next door. I’d been looking for an engagement ring with my fiancé and found the perfect one here at a very fair price. The store is clean and bright and DJ, our sales associate, was professional and friendly. I’ll definitely buy from them in the future! Not sure why others had such bad experiences but mine was 100% positive.

Purchased a diamond wedding ring at this place and I got a great deal! Employees were welcoming and not pushy or hovering around me every second. They were very knowledgable and educated me on things to look for and how to shop for fair pricing. The manager also came out and introduced himself after overhearing what I was looking for and complimented all the answers I received from salesman. They said I would not find a cheaper quality ring than theirs and it was true. Very fairly priced and beat three other places I considered. I definitely found myself a new jewelry shop that I plan on keeping. The managers friendly attitude and wealth of knowledge found himself a customer for life!!!

Don’t let the horror stories of pawn shops scare you! I recently visited the Gems n a Loans on Santa Fe in Vista and was blown away at my experience there.
I was looking to sell a diamond ring and went to a few of the local jewelry stores to see what they would give me. Mod of their quotes were in the same ballpark but their attitude was crap. Part of the MO must be to act like what you have is total junk so they can justify the ridiculous offer they are going to make you. After dealing with that for a while I decided I would go against my better judgement and try a pawn shop totally believing at the time that they wold be far worse with their offer. Im glad I did! Form the second I walked in to G&L I was instantly greeted and helped by DJ Perez. He was very friendly and welcoming. Not at all the condescending attitude I was expecting. He never was made any negative comments. He was extremely professional and too his time to make sure he knew the value of my ring. He was open and honest about his business and was very friendly.
In the End, DJ beat the offers that the jewelry stores made me and appeared happy to do so. I left pleased and with a pocket full of cash feeling satisfied that I got a fair deal! I live In Clairemont but will go out of my way to go back and see DJ for any of my future needs! Put your fears aside and give them a chance! You’ll be glad you did ! Thanks again DJ!

I have been customer for a year now. Always great customer service, pleasant and always greeted with a smile by staff. I remember the first time I stopped in to check on prices of jewelry. I was looking for a necklace for my son’s fiancé, and we even found the perfect charm to match. Daniel was very helpful he look the time to get the right price. And went above and beyond. I even got a lil gift box. My son was so happy. I am always a satisfied customer.

Dj is the best at handling your business with but everyone there is super helpful and not mean like in esco. Super cool and grest prices always taking care of a frequent customer.

I was gifted a ring from this «business» in April. On May 26^th, the stone, a Smokey quartz, fell out. We brought the ring back to Angel, the manger; he was very polite and he ensured us he will replace the stone for us, free of charge, within 7 – 10 days. Ecstatic leaving the store, we were anxious to be receiving a call. 15 days later, On June 10^th, we still had not received a call. We call the store where we were told both the jeweler and the manager were off and no one could seem to help up or give us any update. 2 days later, now on the 17^th day on June 12^th, we received a call late afternoon letting us know the ring was finally available to pick up. My name was not on paperwork, because it was gifted to me. My boyfriend was told I could pick up, since I dropped it off with him.
The following morning, I went to pick up the ring. I was rudely told that I could not pick up the ring because my name was not on any paperwork. I called my boyfriend, who was working at the time letting him know hey were being «assholes» to me; which I strongly y felt they were. A man by the name of Alex then started letting me know I was being the «asshole». My boyfriend then call the store to see why I could not pick the ring up. Alex answered telling my boyfriend, «she I being the asshole and is out of control.» He then continued to inform me that I will feel my karma one day and I get what I pout out. An older women, whom I did not get her name, felt she had to inform me what a great, hardworking employee Alex was. As if this would cover up the fact the way he was speaking to me.
DJ, the man who was getting my ring from the back then took over 5 minutes. He then brought out the ring, which I thought was a joke. As seen in the picture, the original stone (left) was black. On the right is what I received back.
This «business» is a joke. They did not keep their word. They continued to try to push the blame on me after getting upset that they did not do their job correct in the first place. I highly recommended reading these Unilocal reviews prior to stepping foot into this «business». If you would like poor customer service and broken promises, this is the shop for you. If there were an option, I would give NO STARS.

I walked in with my wife to buy ALOT of gold rings and necklaces, the caucasian older heavy set women walks up to me, i wanted to check out 2 necklaces and 2 rings. As the deal is going down i try to make an offer on the SILVER NECKLACE, (400 dollars for small sliver necklace come on) and a gold 14k necklaces.
The total was around 800 bucks but silver is cheap we all know that, i offed 500, plus keep in mind i jad 2 more rings to get, she said «if you dont have the money dont walk in» and put the necklaces back. I took that in disrespect, i had over 3gs in my pocket to spend. Then she says walmart has cheaper necklaces u can go check them out. At that point i told her f you, and walked out never again!!! Go to oceanside gems and loans ask for jeff, hes awesome! I spent 1500. owner of gems n loans. Get ride of that b, shes losing you money. I drive all the way to oceanside just not deal with that lady…

This place is scam gave me 1 price and my wife a completely different price when I wasn’t there, this place is a joke offered me a loan for $ 135 for a xbox one 6 games all top titles 2 controllers with rechargeable battery’s and dock, your better off using craigslist to sell or doing a payday loan plus it’s in the ghetto the gems’n’loan in Escondido is way better or tri city pawn down the street

Would have been given a better rating if they would have honored the price I was offered the first time. The first time I went in an older gentleman gave me a fair deal and seemed like he actually cared about not ripping me off because he suggested I would get more if I sold it to a friend. Offered me $ 43 Also he was very knowledgable. The second time I went in I knew I was going to get jipped when the guy asked me «how much were you looking to get out of it?» I told him what was offered me to the last time and gave me a confused look. He told me there was no way he would give me that price. $ 30 was the best he could do. Gave me some lame excuse of gold going down in price. Clearly all he cared about was giving me the worst price because when the second gentleman who was there the first time walked over and asked how much I was offered originally. He said 35 was the best he could do. Clearly they could have done better. Never will I come in here again.
