Melrose Wine & Spirits

I waltz in yesterday with a thirst for stout. I ask the short clerk if they have single bottles of Woot Stout and he goes, «Only got 4-​packs here, best you leave.» WOW. What a welcome. Then there’s this old geezer behind the counter who makes a flicking motion with his wrist, flicking at me to leave the store since I’m obviously not going to purchase the 4-​pack. If I were you, I’d avoid this place like the plague, not only for their poor selection but crummy customer service.

pretty bad selection. More like a low-​class liquor store. Touts itself as a wine store but it is not. Your best bet is BevMo further down on Melrose.

This place is great. The service, the selection and the prices. Welcome to the neighborhood!

Prices are really high for small bottles of liquor. Not a big selection at all. You can find better prices and more of selection 2 miles away on shadowridge drive. Won’t come back here.

I found the name & storefront a little misleading. It led me to believe it was going to carry a large selection of wines and specialty spirits. Maybe that’s just me? But it turns out to be more like a standard liquor store. The selection of wine is not very extensive and is a little pricey. I actually didn’t see anything that I liked when I went in, but I’m a bit of a ‘wine snob’. Saw a lot of brands that I recognize from regular grocers, priced a bit higher here. Same with the liquor selection — I see the basics, but nothing special, and it’s pricier than the grocery stores by a few dollars per bottle.
They also have lotto, cigarettes, and a limited snack selection. Not sure why they’re bothering with snacks at all, given that they are steps away from Chevron which has an extensive snack shop inside.
I guess I just find the whole concept of this place very confusing — not sure what to make of it.
Hopefully they’ll be able to improve their selection after awhile, because really that would be the only advantage this place has over going to a grocery store.
