Today, Hubby and I are traveling, and we were in Shreveport, and wanted to go to this Museum in Vivian, LA. However, the information I had was that it was closed on Sunday, but there was also a phone number available to make a reservation. On the off chance that I could get lucky, I called the reservation number and reached a nice gentleman who said that he would be glad to meet us there and let us go through the museum. I am sooo glad that he did. This is a very good collection of KCS railroad memorabilia, as well as other memorabilia from the town of Vivian. From a very very old 1800s piano to a buggy used by a local doctor, all of the exhibits are well cared for and in good shape. I loved the old mail-cancelling machine that had Vivian’s cancellation stamp on it. This was a great day, and I want to publicly thank the nice gentleman who let us traipse through his(actually, his wife’s) museum and also let us interrupt his leisurely Sunday afternoon. We left a substantial donation to the museum as our thanks for the courtesy.
