Really good Tex Mex. I had heard about this place for a long time before finally getting the chance to try it. I was expecting killer comfort food and I was not disappointed. I’ve been on a cheese enchilada kick lately so I got the Mexican plate — 2 cheese enchiladas and a crispy taco. The enchiladas were great — very classic Tex Mex with the red tortillas and all. These aren’t my favorite cheese enchiladas in San Antonio — but they’re the next level down — awesome, no complaints at all. The crispy taco was fine — better than average. The standout for me was the flour tortillas. These were the best I’ve had in a long while. Very light and fluffy. I rate them higher for texture than flavor but they were amazing. The chips and salsa they put out were good — I really liked the chips, didn’t care that much for either of the salsas. One was a warm, tomato salsa that was mild and very heavy on the onions. The other was a green one that was also mild and kind of bland to me. Very reasonable prices, friendly service and great coffee. I will definitely stop by whenever I am in the area. .which is almost never. .but I’ll figure out a reason to come back, lol.

I tell anyone who wants tacos and authentic delicious Mexican food that this place is the best spot in town. Place might be in the dictionary under«hole in the wall» If you didn’t know the place existed you would drive right by it on Fischer rd. Believe me this bright green colored house is gonna be your favorite taco spot. CASH only, the food for the price point is ridiculous… Great food cheap prices. The Carne guisada tacos are phenomenal. They always have lunch specials but hurry in they usually close by 3

Had lunch with hubby here today. He ordered the carne guisada plate, and I got the kids enchilada plate. It’s been my experience that if I order a regular plate at a Mexican restaurant, I can never finish it, so I stick with the kids plate most of the time. Food was really good, and lots of it, of course. The tortillas are home made, and delicious. Rice was moist, beans seasoned perfectly. If I had any complaints at all, it was that the cheese in the enchilada was American cheese and cloyingly thick. Interior is very plain and country-ish, but clean, with a lot of things to look at on the walls and counters. You can tell this is mostly a place where locals eat. Staff was friendly and attentive. While it wasn’t a «stand out» experience, I would definitely eat here again, and would recommend it to others.

Good food great service. The reviews are a bit exaggerated. We drove from north end of San Antonio, where we were staying, to this establishment and we could of ate at 100 other places similar to this food along that drive. Yes it is a friendly quaint place with about 20 tables and booths but it is as similar to any taqueria. Not disappointed but not what I expected from all the 5 stars. There is nothing fancy about this place just a simple atmosphere.

So delicious! I had the super nachos with beef fajita meat. Very generous on the amount of meat and guacamole on the nachos. Weren’t overly greasy. My husband had the beef enchiladas. Once again very generous on the meat! Corn tortillas were homemade and nice and hot. Definitely one of those hidden gem hole in the walls of San Antonio

Delicious. I had beef fajitas. The meat was so good. Oh, and the flour tortillas. Yum. The location seems a little out of the way, but the food was delicious.

We were visiting from Virginia and stayed in San Antonio for 10 days. I just happened to check Unilocal for nearby Mexican restaurants and I went with Benjamin’s. We were not let down. The carne asada was amazing and the Queso dip is a must have! We did not have a single bad meal while we were here, but Benjamin’s was the best. Cash only.(There’s an ATM at the Valero gas station that’s nearby) service was outstanding!

This is definitely a hidden gem in San Antonio. I loved going here during my lunch breaks! I can’t seem to find anything that compares when it comes to authenticity, flavor, and price. The only bad part is that you will want to crash after eating all your food. They have limited hours but a lot of Toyota employees will come here during lunch. It’s a small shack and I would probably avoid using the bathroom here. I think most of the meals ranged from 6 – 9 dollars.

Benjamins Kitchen is THEPLACE for an awesome bowl of Chicken Tortilla Soup! I love this place! I have never had anything else other than the Tortilla Soup, and I don’t think I ever will. It is the best soup I have ever had in San Antonio, and that is a bold statement! It is that good! Giant chunks of Avacado, juicy chicken, shredded cheese, onion, tomato, and all kinds of other delicious goodness! It is a great value! The soup is $ 5-$ 6 and I have NEVER finished an entire bowl(And I’m a 215lb guy). It’s huge & will definitely fill you up. I took a friend there & he ordered the burrito. Just the burrito, not a super burrito, not a special burrito, not a I-am-starving burrito and the thing was about the size of a small pony(kidding). Imagine a burrito with the dimensions of a laptop but 4 inches thick! He ate as much as he could and took the rest home, which provided is next 2 meals. The burrito was $ 5! Be sure to bring cash because they don’t accept credit & get there early or you may have to wait a few minutes, as there aren’t a lot of tables. The place seats maybe 60 people. Also, the Chicken Tortilla soup is NOT served on Wednesdays, so if you trust me on my review of the soup, don’t go on that day! Enjoy! 100% recommend!

Benjamin’s is the locals favorite for breakfast and lunch. Their plates and specials are a good value and their tacos are equally good, take out or dine in. The service is fast and it has a country, family feel. I recommend it to all my guests
