Had to try this place after reading all the good reviews on Unilocal.I must say I was very happy with my pick! The environment is colorful, vibrant and comfortable. Mexican music playing in the background and staff is nice. Place is BYO and that alone is amazing! We brought a bottle of tequila and ordered a pitcher of their mix: thumbs up there! The complimentary chips and salsa(3 different kinds) were delicious! I could just eat that. We got the Crab San Lucas and guacamole for appetizers and both tasted fresh and delicious. For my entrée, I got the Pollo Mexicano and it was awesome! It came with salad too. I had the mango vinaigrette dressing: We were a party of 5 and everyone was pleased with their meals. To top it all off, we had a complimentary dessert for being our first time there. It was churros with vanilla ice cream with caramel drizzled on top. Thumbs up for this place! I would definitely go back!

I Love this place. i have yet to try it for lunch but have been there for dinner about 10 times so far. I am on a mission to try everything on the menu and every appetizer. I have accomplished the appetizer one and would say they are all great but by far my personal favorite is the crab meat and tomato salsa one. I love all the servers and they make you feel at home and truly want you go have a good time. I usually go with two other people and For three people our bill usually averages around $ 65 which is great in my opinion since I always leave on a full stomach. I would highly recommend this place!

Very good food. Food comes out like art work. Very nicely displayed. Other customers meals also looked very appetizing. Place was very clean. Service was also good. This place is not an american style Mexican restaurant. It is not on the menu so I asked if they had chicken fajitas. Our waitress said sure they could prepare it. It was excellent. Everything look and tasted fresh. Sorry for the 4 star rating. Its a very strong 4.5. It would get 5 but the menu is intimidating for someone who is not use to authentic Mexican restaurant. View the menu before you go.

Perfect restaurant for«date night». The service was wonderful and the food was superb. This is the best Mexican around. The prices were extremely reasonable and kitchen was very flexible. I noticed Duck Mole was on the menu and I don’t like duck, the server indicated they could make it with chicken, and it was exceptionally delicious.

Being that this place is around the corner from my house, I was expecting we were hitting a home run with all the wonderful reviews this place has. Unfortunately, we just didn’t have that magical experience here. We came on a Friday night for dinner– having a craving for good Mexican, I was super excited. We were greeted with a friendly staff and were given chips and dip right away. This was probably the best thing I ate. The menu is pretty limited but the waitress assured us that we can order whatever we want. My fiancé got a burrito which he enjoyed and I ordered shredded beef and rice. He enjoyed his burrito, my food was mediocre at best. I got like a steak kind of stew… It was odd looking and just didn’t taste great. I never dislike my food, ever! But this was just eh… I would have rather had a taco for Taco Bell or something. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing? Maybe we came on the wrong day? Needless to say, I won’t be back. I’ll hit up chipotle for Mexican if I want it that bad next time.

It is really great that so many Mexican and Latin restaurants are popping up in South Jersey. El Mariachi San Lucas has been open about a year now and has been getting good reviews on Unilocal,so we gave it a try. The place is bigger then I expected with two dining rooms. It is more or less two stores in the strip mall. The décor is simple and clean but with bright colors. Our servers were very nice and explained the menu to us. We had two soups, a Tortilla Chicken and a Shrimp and Corn bisque. Both soups very good and pretty large portions. We had the enchiladas, tacos and the Tequila salmon. We had chicken tacos and we found them slightly dry. The enchilada was very good and the sauce was excellent. We also really liked the salmon, the Tequila sauce gave the dish a nice flavor profile and fish was cooked perfectly. Since this was our first visit, our waitress gave us a free dessert. Our food came out a little slow as everything is cooked to order. Be prepared to have a relaxing dinner. A solid 3.5 stars from this Unilocaler. Not quite a fan yet but still better then A-OK.

I went there for lunch yesterday and I was impressed. Everything was Fresh and amazing. The Staff was friendly, the atmosphere was clean and beautiful. I would really love to try this place out at dinner time. What a great little hidden gem in a Voorhees strip mall, you should definitely check it out. (missing a Star until I can try their dinner, so many options, so little time!)

From start to finish, a great meal. Our waitress recommended the Crab San Lucas appetizer, which was lovely. Suffused with lime, it was tasty down to the bed of lettuce on which it rested. From there we had mole enchiladas and the chicken Mexicano, as they were out of duck. Yum. I will absolutely return. This is creative Mexican done right. Prepare to bring home leftovers!

The service was great! Presentation was great! They look like the have a private party room a d than a second sad looking room and no music was playing while we were eating. The food was good, not great, but good. Much better than any text mex. play but 2000% but not ad flavorful as I would expect from a Mexican restaurant. aguas frescos son muy delicioso!

Let me start with the bad: 1. Little parking lot 2. B.Y.O.B(but they have the margarita mix) That’s it! The food is amazing, the presentation is probably the best I’ve seen and I’ve been to Dubai. The service was always with a smile and the portion was more than I can handle and I like to eat. Over all a great atmosphere and very clean. They have a menu for lunch and separate one for dinner, I ate there for lunch and I can’t wait to see what they have for dinner.

We found El Mariachi after being disappointed with an hour wait at another local Mexican place and Unilocalers, I’m glad we followed your lead! Little Dude, Husband and I came with a friend and her two Little Dudes for dinner. We were offered samples of Horchata(which turned into glasses of Horchata) and started with some chips and guacamole. The guacamole was great – perfect balance of cilantro, lime and onion without being too salty either. From there I ordered the chicken tortilla soup. Wow. Beautiful tomato base with sour cream to thicken it slightly, perfectly toasted tortilla chips and some avocado. Heaven. So, so delicious. It wasn’t too spicy but was just plain GOOD. I ordered the enchiladas with salsa verde – my staple whenever I’m trying a New Mexican restaurant. Outside of Los Angeles, this is the best salsa verde I’ve had. It was so flavorful with just a kick of spice, but with so much depth I was looking around for things to scoop, dip and otherwise soak this sauce in when I finished what I could of my meal. Speaking of, the portions were ENORMOUS. Seriously, after the chips and guacamole and the soup I wasn’t hungry for the huge enchiladas I was given, but certainly didn’t complain because that meant I could take them home and enjoy them another time, which I absolutely did. We were filled to the brim, but weren’t done yet as the servers brought out a free dessert for us! The Little Dudes made short work of that, but I got a taste and it was great. A rich brownie with ice cream and chocolate and caramel sauces. Not exactly Mexican per se, but I’m certainly not turning down dessert – especially free dessert. El Mariachi, you are my new go-to place when I need a taste of South Central LA(read: REAL Mexican food) here in New Jersey. Can’t wait to come back!

This is the fanciest and one of the best Mexican restaurants I’ve ever been to. You first think, a small shopping center restaurant? But when you enter, you are greeted by beautiful pink and coral walls adorned with nice paintings, fresh roses(again, pink and coral) at every table and surrounded by great music. Our waitress was very nice and let us try samples of three different drinks since we couldn’t decide. One one was better than the next but I went with the Horchatta. It was soo good! I usually just order water and was spoiled! Their guacamole was really really good as well.(I’m a huge fan of La Esperanza in Lindenwold, NJ). It rivaled them,(and no extra salt required) which I hate to say! I wasn’t crazy about their thicker homemade chips but they were decent. The portion was less than I’m used to but with all of our other food, lunch perfect size actually. My main entrée though? Forget it! Sooo good and fresh with ample shrimp. It was a shrimp burrito — generous lunch size and I ate the whole thing :) I’ve already told three people about this restaurant. It’s only 10 minutes from my house — this could be a dangerous new relationship! I highly recommend going!

I’m so tempted to award the fifth star here, and if a dinner visit is as good as today’s lunch, I surely will. We stopped here because another Mexican place changed its hours, and Unilocal led the way to this small but charming spot in a different strip mall. With beautiful weather we had an option to sit outside, but the interior was so inviting we decided to stay inside. The great Mariachi music only heightened our sense that fate led us here. Judith, our wonderful server gave us plenty of time and advice on the small but interesting menu. She surprisingly provided us with samples of 3 of their beverages in cute tiny glasses. I was familiar with them having sampled similar offerings at other establishments, but to my gf it was all new. She selected the horchata and I agreed it was very good, I opted for Jamaica and we both enjoyed our choices. The one not selected was great as well, a fresh pineapple juice. Next up were the house made chips and trio of salsas. These are my type of chips, thick, fresh and not over salted. The sauces are great too, green, spicy sour cream and a red chipotle that had a nice kick. Guac was ordered to enhance the experience, and it was perfect, chunky, vibrant and topped with just the right amount of onions and tomatoes. My gf sampled the shrimp burrito and loved it. It was perfectly built and seasoned, large enough for many to take half home and garnished with lettuce, cukes and sour cream. My choice of tacos dorados was possibly even better. 5 rolled up chicken tacos were fried then topped with a crema, queso blanco and shredded lettuce. The meat was mildly seasoned and tender and moist. I utilized all 3 sauces to achieve a perfect spice level. This was a very tasty and filling lunch, and I was saddened that we were too full to try the churros that others have raved about. But that’s what future visits are for. I look forward to sampling their dinner menu, and even to come back at lunch to try the reasonably priced tacos(4 for $ 8) This was a great Unilocal find. Thanks go to Joanne T for her ROTD review. 4.75 making me feel like Mariachi dancing Unilocal

Spectacular! This place is a winner winner pollo dinner. For some reason, I couldn’t explain it until now, but I was never the Mexican food type. I’ve just realized that the whole time I wasn’t trying good Mexican food. This place killed it! Everything we had for lunch was homemade and I was impressed. We walked in and great music was playing. We were offered to sit anywhere we liked and we chose their seating outside. The only problem with sitting outside was that the music didn’t play out there. I jokingly told our waitress(Erica) that they really needed some speakers out there. Much to my surprise after she brought out our waters she sat bluetooth speakers on the table behind us. :jawdropped: What service! That immediately changed the ambiance for me and made me even more excited to try their dishes. While we read over the menu we were brought over homemade tortilla chips accompanied with 3 different(also homemade) sauces. Freakin’ bomb. I chose the Enchiladas with green sauce and I loved it. The dish was large with an overload of all their special ingredients; green sauce, lettuce, onions, thinly sliced radishes, sprinkled sour cream, and feta cheese. Excellent! It is apparently one of their best sellers. Do it! Before we closed out our check we had to finish our meal with a taste at one of their desserts. I really wanted to try their homemade flan but they were out. Trust me though, I’ll be back! Instead we shared the Churros with Ice cream and sprinkled caramel. Holy moly! Listen, I’m super excited because I really have never had a taste for Mexican food and honestly this place has turned me around. So, thank you El Mariachi San Lucas. I was truly blown away by this food. The place is quaint. The service was top of the line. And there has to be something to say about a restaurant that has secured the lot next door to them so that they can expand. I will be back and probably with more people. I loved it here. As a person that would consider herself a foodie I appreciated what this place is trying to do in a local shopping plaza in Voorhees, NJ. Great job, guys! You definitely win in my book. Felicitaciones to your success thus far and I pray that you keep growing to bigger and better.

A few satisfying visits to this authentic Byob Mexican restaurant in Voorhees and I’m sold on the food, privacy and wonderful service. They start with the 3 salsas: mild, medium and hot. The salsa labelled hot isn’t as hot as you’d expect. It’s actually the medium that packs on more heat. The complimentary chips and salsa are gracious. I added on the guacamole appetizer since I’m a huge fan of avocado. The guacamole is chunky and delicious. Bonus points to the server who offered more chips when we were running low. Entrees are generally all around $ 15 and are good size in portion. I couldn’t finish mine but, that happens often. On my visits my husband happily finished my uneaten bits or I came home only for it to be eaten by him. The place is great for an outdoor lunch or dinner with 2 – 3 people but it’s not so good for groups of people. I’d say that if it’s 5 or more you should make a reservation. The Al pastor pork tacos were great with the sweet taste of pineapple. I’d recommend those over the carnitas tacos. The enchiladas were a larger dish with plenty of cheese. I’d recommend asking for mole sauce instead of the red sauce that it comes with. Along with the enchiladas are rice and beans, which really make the meal for this 13 dollar entrée. For drinks, bring your tequila and order a Jamaica-hibiscus flower drink and spike it to make your visit a real winner.

Wow! This place did NOT disappoint for an impromptu lunch! We were looking for a spot to eat lunch in Voorhees and my cousin found El Mariachi on Unilocal! It’s in a little strip mall on the end. When we walked up, it is decorated very festively with the option of al fresco dining. The restaurant is small, but intimate — imagine during dinner time. The waitress greeted us as soon as we walked in and since we were the only patrons at the time, told us we can pick where we wanted to sit. Once seated she asked if this was our 1st time, of course, we all nodded. She handed us each a menu, which was big, but simple and not complicated. Each item on the menu had a description, which was great as each item was in Spanish. We ordered the Horchata, which is a beverage, it is a rice drink with cinnamon, sugar and milk. It was delicious, my niece described it as, «Drinking dessert». A previous Unilocaler says, «Refills on Horchata!» and I totally agree!(Tip: It helps curb the spice!) After the beverages came, the waitress brought us a small basket of homemade tortilla chips and a dish with 3 different salsas: a spicy chipotle, a verde with avocado and cilantro, and another that was quite spicy. Then, we ordered the guacamole. I ordered tinga(pulled chicken seasoned with tomatoes, onions, and the spicy chipotle sauce). My cousin ordered the chilaquiles with pork carnitas and my niece ordered the picaditas with the pork carnitas. Each dish was a decent sized portion for lunch, beautifully put together and so fresh. The tinga tacos were amazing! They were definitely spicy, but the flavor was like no other! I will definitely order those again. I sampled the chilaquiles and picaditas and they were both, just delicious! We didn’t have time for dessert, but we did take some to go. Unfortunately, they did not have any bread pudding or flan. We assumed that they make it fresh for dinner, so we’ll definitely have to come back for that! We ordered churros and 2 orders of mango cheesecake, which, wasn’t on the menu, but was offered. The waitress also informed us that they make the churros fresh onsite! They were also delicious!!! The prices are reasonable and the food was delicious from the homemade tortilla chips to the Horchata, to the guacamole, to the entrees. We were definitely surprised with this place and will be coming back!!!

Literally came here because i saw a fellow Unilocaler post a picture of churro with ice cream. As soon as we were seated I had to make sure they had this. Craving was satisfied in the end. The churro was served warm. I just wished it came with more ice cream. I ordered the El Mariachi pork chop. The chipotle demi glacé made the dish. The pork chop was cooked perfectly. The chorizo mashed potato was delicious, just wished there were more than one piece of chorizo in it. The guy had the molcajete. Their version had a tasty green sauce. It had plenty of proteins: shrimp, beef, chicken, and pork. This place probably has the best Mexican entrees around the area. Yes, it’s a bit more pricey than other places but you pay for quality.

Wow… Just wow! This is definitely a great authentic mexican restaurant. I ordered the chilaquiles and for once i ate the whole entire dish.(Im usually a light eater) and even ordered a side of rice. YUM! And they have my ultimate favorite dessert ever… CHURROS! The salsa verde here is incredible! We ended up needing 2 more refills of it. Its amazing! And the lime soda is yummy!

This place is incredible. Traditional Mexican tacos done right. Simply prepared, served with a wedge of lime and topped with cilantro and diced onion. Just the way god and mexico intended. Bistec– My absolute favorite. Perfectly seasoned tender strips of beef. This is what I dream about on a weekly basis. Al Pastor– Very good, although I feel like I can’t give these a solid review since the Bistec tacos were so legit. Guac– Incredible. Nice and chunky with great lime and cinlantro flavor. Chips– Thick, crunchy, and salty. They were able to handle the weight of the guac with ease. Absolutely perfect. They were just as good the next day.
