we’ve been coming here for over 10 years and have always received the same treatment — the ambiance and the food are one in the same — awesome. We’ve brought friends and family here and they all had the same reaction. The grilled sepia/octopus — if you have never had it this would be the dish to start with and if you are a fish lover — it doesn’t get any better than them fileting a beautiful bronzino or dover sole right at your table. We will never stop coming here and for the people who thought they had a negative experience — try it again trust me!

CLOSED — NEWNAME — New Ownership? Was looking for Laceno, found La Locanda in its place. Still a decent plate of Italian food regardless of what is written across the front door.

I should really rate this place with zero stars. I made a 7:00 pm Saturday dinner reservation a week in advance. As is my custom, I called on the scheduled day to reconfirm, and I was informed(I think by the owner) with great aplomb that he didn’t have the reservation, and that he could take me at 6:00 pm. He expressed no apology and apparently could not have cared less. Since this would have been my first visit, and since I know that they do a thriving business, I suspect that he gave my table to one of his regulars. Being a paraplegic, my choice of good restaurants is not quite so wide as for an able-bodied person, but, fortunately, I was able to book a table at Maria’s, in Roxborough, which is, in my opinion, the best Italian restaurant in the area.

We have eaten here a few times over the last few years. Nice atmosphere. Great service and excellent food. This is what BYOB’s are all about. It can get busy, so consider a reservation.

After securing tickets for a 10 p.m. flick at «the movie theater formerly known as the Ritz,» we set off to find a BYO in the area. Taking chances with random restaurants is not really my favorite thing to do, since dining out gets expensive and you want to have a good experience when you do get out. All worries were cast aside when we realized how many people in the restaurant were speaking Italian. Olive Garden, this was not! We ordered the warm buffalo mozzarella app, a special. It was served with basil, tomatoes, grilled zucchini and a balsamic reduction. It went perfectly with the crusty bread on our table. I asked our server if wheat pasta was available and was so happy to find out that it was. Nothing beats fresh pasta but when I can get it in the wheat variety, I’m a very happy girl. I ended up with wheat penne and vodka sauce, which was to-die. My date had chicken topped with roasted red peppers and served alongside veggies and potatoes. The chicken was so flavorful and very tender. The dessert tray looked phenomenal and we ended up with a chocolate mousse that was served on top of chocolate cake and topped with fresh whipped cream~ all encased in a circular wall of dark chocolate. It’s a good thing I was already pretty full, or things could have easily gotten ugly with a battle of forks over this dessert. It was fantastic. Like Remmie, my one and only complaint about the restaurant is the décor. There is none. This place clearly runs a good business and I think it would be even better if they just updated their dining rooms and repainted the bathrooms, which were really beat. However, I’m happy to turn a blind eye for Italian food this amazing!

This place has amazing food. I love Italian food(if you’ve read my reviews, they’re mainly from Italian restaurants), but let me tell you, these guys know what they’re doing. I ordered the veal chop milanese, and it was perfect. I couldn’t imagine it tasting any better than it did. Granted this was about a year ago but that just reinforces how good it was that I’m writing this review now. On a side note, decoration seemed a little dated and tacky and took away from the ambiance(1 star deduction). Service adequate enough to not warrant any negative thoughts in my memory.
