My husband and I were preparing to move to Waco, so before the big move my husband came to Waco to house hunt solo. He found a Craigslist posting about the house in question, and went to look at it. When he got to the home he looked over the larger details of the house, like how many rooms, how large the kitchen was, if we could change paint colors etc. and was told the house would be cleaned before we moved in. Since the house was the right size and in a great part of town, he paid half of the deposit.($ 600) A few weeks later I came to town with my husband, when we were told the house was ready to move in to so we went and did a move-in inspection. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the smell… The majority of the carpet throughout the house was Brown(not intentionally). It was covered with large stains, and big bleached patches, it was also coming up from the floor, in rifts and bubbles. The walls weren’t repainted, The door seals were coming off, The frames around all the windows, & doors, and the frames on the doors were ripped up from dogs, and weren’t replaced. Seals were falling off the doors, Shelving was left behind, with a great colorful collection of stickers plastered on them. There were dead roaches everywhere, in drawers, in the fridge, on the stove top, in the cupboards, on the floors, counters, along with roach poop coming out of the outlets, & sockets, poop in cupboards, under the rim of counters, in corners of the home, in & under the fridge, and covered the pantry door & shelves. Behind and under the fridge was not cleaned, swept or wiped up. It was near black. When I asked about the mess, the girl showing the house(Andi) said that she had cleaned the house the best she could by herself, because the estimate they got was too expensive.(The last home owners had been evicted for failure to pay rent, and the mess in the home.) She also went further to say that the house was overwhelmed with roaches and garbage when they moved out, & the state it was in now was an improvement. For the bugs Andi had said they’d put down bug bombs and cleaned the carpets.(You could see an attempt to clean the carpets) ((I called an exterminator about the roaches and they quoted that the smaller roaches are German cockroaches and don’t die with bug bombs alone, they need specific treatment to get rid of… yes, likely propaganda to get work but nonetheless.)) My husband and I couldn’t move into a home like this if there were evidence of any pests due to the agreement with our Military company movers. The military was paying for our move, & if they found evidence of pests in our goods at any time when we moved out– they’d refuse to move us– We’d have to pay for it ourselves, which we wouldn’t be able to afford. So, Why am I writing such a bad review? We paid half a deposit expecting a clean home that was move in ready by the date specified. Leaving us scrambling to find new housing, and find a way to keep our things out of storage. CIF cost us another week and a half(at a cost of 900 $) in the hotel looking for another home. The movers came to the home expecting to be allowed to begin unloading, when they couldn’t our things went into storage for a month. We went without general necessities in the home we did find for this time.(Sheets, pillows, blankets, extra underwear … you name it.) CIF had originally refused to refund the $ 600 claiming no fault, in the end the owner of CIF went to the home herself and agreed with our assessment of the uncleanliness of the home and refunded our money.
