I was in town for the weekend and wanted to grab some food about 10:30 at night. I ran over there and had one of the best texmex dinners I’ve ever had. The Tampico dinner, I think(shirt steak and cheese enchilada) was pretty much the best I’ve ever had. Tacos al carbon were just as good. Go here!

Horrible! Horrible! Horrible! We called in a reservation on Wednesday for 20 people. The man was super accommodating and we were excited to celebrate my mother’s 62nd birthday! My niece came in as a surprise and everything. When we arrived they told us here is the table and we could put some together if we wanted. What? Didn’t we reserve for 20??? But, okay we wanted to have a good time so no worries. They had one girl waiting on us who acted as if she had never waited a table in her life. She asked us a drink order and then never returned. She finally came with some, but others were left drinkless. It was a full hour before everyone got their correct drink order. We asked several times if we could order and she finally took our order and we got our food an hour and a half after we arrived. Even then not all of the food arrived. They brought our 2 tortillas for 10 people. I went to complain and this is what I was told. «I am sorry but there is a larger table here and we are really busy» I looked around but there was only a table of 8 in the entire restaurant. We finally got our food and decided to try to make my mother’s birthday not a complete failure so we sang Happy Birthday! We asked for our checks, and literally waited 30 minutes before we got them. When she took our cards two of our orders were charged higher than the receipt indicated. We went back to complain, and we were asked to never come back… Really? You should be happy we didn’t press charges on you for theft. And come back? we weren’t planning on it anyway.

Dollar drafts and other cheap drinks are the only reason to go here. The chips and salsa were lackluster. If you order anything with ground beef it’s 50 percent grease. They do have cactus soup here, which I can’t find else where in Waco, so there’s that. But the food is otherwise average at best. Also, the service is generally not that great, it’s slow to check on you, even if you are the only occupied booth in the place. I would have given it one star, if not for the drinks. That being said, $ 1 for a Dos Equis, so go there and eat your crappy food because $ 1 Dos Equis!

$ 1 draughts — which included dos equis(what a steal!) Love the two sauces that come with chips — one is warm/roasted and the other is cold. I would skip out on the guacamole live — the guac that comes with each dish tastes better. I ordered the fajitas mixta(which includes chicken, beef, AND shrimp) — what an awesome deal. The 1 person portion was perfect for 2 people. Each dish only comes with two tortillas, so you would have to order extra, but it is only $ 0.50 more. It was interesting how some of the dishes came with grilled cactus. A nice pickled addition to the meat dishes.

This is good food. Read others that said it was bland, I obviously didn’t eat what they ate. Try the cheesy chicken fajitas. #19

Went here for the first and last time last night. First the problems with the service. We had a large group but if you have space for large groups you should be able accommodate them. I never got the drink I ordered. I had to ask for it again later and got it an hour after we placed our initial order. The hour in between our food order and our food arriving we barely saw the waitress, and the front room was barely filled. I wondered to myself if our waitress was making our food so she couldn’t come out. Finally got our food, I’ll get to that later. This next part is something that happens way too much in Waco. I am relatively new in Waco so a lot of places I go to are new to me. I finish my food and I am sitting there. The wait staff takes my empty plates and I am still sitting there. I am asked if I want anything else and usually say no because I am full. Still sitting there, waiting. Finally have to wave someone over or get up and tell someone we need to pay. Oh, we have to pay up front. You should always let your customers know that you don’t pay at the table and if you don’t you should notice how bored they are sitting at an empty table waiting. Now for the food. I got number the fajita enchiladas covered in queso with rice and beans. Tortilla(flour tortilla?) was incredibly tough. I shouldn’t have to cut a tortilla with a knife. Within the tough tortilla was the even tougher beef fajita meat. The beef fajitas you get at Taco Cabana are about the same quality but more tender. Queso wasn’t bad, but that’s easy to make. Rice and beans were usual. Everything was barely warm. The salsas tasted like spaghetti sauce with a bit of spice added. Probably out of a can. What’s with Mexican food places in Waco serving up pathetic salsa? My wife got the spinach and mushroom enchiladas. Again, food from a can. Canned mushrooms this time. Barely any spinach. When I had to pay for this all I could think was just how much money I wasted. I could of gone to much cheaper places for better food. Or my wife and I could of made our own Mexican food and it would have been better.

The salsa tasted like spaghetti sauce with peppers. The chips were stale. The spinach & mushroom enchiladas with sour cream sauce was basically two Tia Rosa flour tortillas loosely covering cold canned mushrooms and four leaves of canned spinach, topped with melted sour cream. The rice looked like vegetable rice-a-roni with some chili powder. The refried beans were poured out of a can. I got in the car after the meal, turned to my husband, and said, «The enchiladas I make are a delicacy compared to that — and I’m from small town Michigan!» We need to stop raving about how inexpensive this place is — there’s a reason why it’s so cheap, friends!

$ 2 large margaritas, served in frosted beer mugs every Monday-Thursday. This is all you need to know. My office came to Mi Tequila for drinks and appetizers. We ordered some guac and some queso with chips. By then end of the night we had amassed dozens of different dips in a variety of awesome flavors, with never ending baskets of chips. I walked out of here with a less than $ 10 bill, and was stuffed and happy with a night of good company and good drinks. Totally worth the price.

One of Waco’s best kept secrets! Great food, attentive service and inexpensive and tasty specials for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Tens — chili relleno and fajitas and their sweet iced tea!
