We stayed at the Hampton Inn & Suites Waco South for a Baylor football game and being our first visit to the new McLane Stadium I was worried about parking. To make matters worse rain was coming and the temperature was dropping, and did want to walk a long distance in the rain before and after the game. Luckily the hotel had a flyer for a service called PAY-A-RIDE to provide transportation to and from the stadium for $ 7.00 per person. Turns out it’s $ 7 per leg so it would be $ 14 for round trip plus tip. I was nervous so I called for more info and the guy I spoke with sounded confident and reliable so I elected yes. He said he would send a driver within an hour to pick us up. It was 4 hours before kick off and waited in the lobby for hour driver to show up. I the meanwhile has free cookies and coffee, and charged our phones. I received a call from the car service asking me which hotel I was at and the driver was also on the line but barely understand him. He knew where I was and showed up 15 minutes later. My wife and I saw the car and it was a beat up Cadillac where we sat in the back seat. The driver’s wife was in the passenger seat and we were in the back. It obviously was his personal vehicle, but was nice where we chit chatted on the drive. The interior was falling apart and just accepted it since I put my faith into this car service. We arrive at McLane Stadium and he seemed like he had never been there before driving in circles until he dropped us off in front of the stadium store. I payed him $ 14 + tip and glad we made it there. We enjoyed the game but the rain was falling hard and was dark outside. I received a text message from our driver and notified him we were on our way out. He told us to return to Gate A which was not the location of the drop off. We walked all around the stadium until I got to Gate A and at this time I was not getting anymore text messages so I called the phone number. I got in contact whom I thought was the person I was texting to and that person told me to walk to Red Roof Inn across the highway which meant we had to walk in the cold rain. I was not happy but if it got us home quicker then I would be satisfied. Mud was everywhere and luckily the street was closed, but no lights under I-35 was bad. Soon we made it to the hotel and stood under a small cover with others who were told to meet their rides there. With the rain coming down a man in a white van rolled down his window and yelled at you with PAY-A-RIDE. All I ever had was a number and did not know what the name of the service was, so I took a chance in order to return home by saying yes. He asked what hotel and the pointed me to a BMW. Quickly my wife and I jumped into the backseat of this really nice BMW and the driver asked where to. I said Hampton Inn South. Different surroundings versus the old beat up vehicle that took us here and asked no questions. Well until my wife mentioned the car and soon the driver was confused and asked us questions. I felt I needed a plan so I said perhaps it was this car and was tired from the long game experience and rain. The driver said he was part owner of the car service and said perhaps one of his drivers used their own cars where he should not since his company is bonded. I was thinking I may have jumped into another car service, and the my phone rang. It was the original driver who brought us to the game and asking where I am. I quickly said I got a ride back to Sent from my iPad For $ 28 + tip they did the job but it was quite the adventure. Not sure I would do it again, but would have to give it some serious thought.
