I went to Deardorff Orchards last weekend with my sister and niece. They tell you that you need to buy the bag for the apples before they take you out for picking. I spend $ 40 on 2, ½ peck bags. We get out there and people that are coming back from picking are complaining and saying there are no apples. The people we ride back with are throwing the lousy apples that were left off the side of the trailer because they aren’t good. No one told us that it was slim pickings when selling us the bags and there are«no refunds». So, we ended up climbing trees and almost getting tracheotomies from the branches all to get a few crappy apples. And, if you like crowds of wussy husbands drinking wine with their pinkies up in their linen shirts while pulling their spawns in a wagon, this is the place for you. I, personally, wanted to kick the glasses out of their annoying hands.

I have been to a lot of orchards with my kids over the years and this one is the best I have found. It doesn’t charge for admission, is literally an old country farm, welcomes pets, has great activities for the kids, is partnered with a winery for wine tastings and despite all of this, doesn’t feel«commercial». And while it is a bit of a drive, it is a beautiful drive past lakes, woods and fall color. I highly recommend it!

My family and I have gone there the last four years. This is about the perfect the place to pick apples. They have a huge orchard to pick from. They have a tractor pulling a trailer to bring you out to the orchard and back.(it just runs a loop back and forth.) You’re able to eat the apples while your picking, there is no charge to get in, they have a small petting zoo, wine tasting and apple tastings inside the barn. The only reason this isn’t 5 stars is the prices of the apple that you pick. Overall though, it’s been a great experience and I would highly recommend them.

Way over-priced!!! A few mangy animals. A tacky place which pretends to be a happening place by offering wine and some live«music». One screeching young«singer» about drove us away. Mr. GRUMPY chased off our 8-year-old from the straw-pile play area, assuming he was older than the 8-year-old limit which was not posted anywhere. I’d never return for any reason! This is as close to a scam as I’ve ever seen.

hey, we had a freakin great time here! One of the very few DOG-FRIENDLY places to go picking apples, we really enjoyed the idea that we didn’t have to leave him home. If you’re going to see the animals, welp, this isn’t an animal farm, nor do they present themselves as that — so you’re an idiot. The apples are priced fair(buy a bag at a set price and pick your own), they have wine tasting(decent — not my style), they have a small store in which they sell way more than I want to write about and they were all very friendly. TIPS: bring some cash — yes they accept cards, but the stone oven pizza was cash. Dogs CANNOT go inside the barns/store.

I remember picking here years ago when my kids were younger and it was great! Now the apples are extremely expensive, whether you purchase prebagged or choose to pick yourself. And no, they are not organic. These are 2−3x what you pay in the store. It’s hard to enjoy this place when it feels like you are being suckered.

SUCH a fun place! Apple picking AND wine tasting all in one adorable afternoon! The orchard seems incredibly family friendly, was very fun for my and some girlfriends, and would be awesome for a date! You pay for the size bag you want and then go pick the apples that are ready that day. They also let you sample all the different types so you know which ones you want to pick. They also have bags and bags of different types, yummy $.75 apple cider donuts, local honey, apple pies and crisp and a TON of other cutesy things. They also had a wood fire pizza truck show up and offer their delicious pizzas which was a God send because we were hungry and about to partake in a wine tasting. Pizza for the win. I would definitely recommend this place and actually plan on heading back with my mom and aunt in the near future!

Went with the family to pick apples and see the animals. This place is terrible! It’s vey small which is ok since it’s close to our house. They have a few animals but no way to pet them or feed them. They have a little store but the apples are expensive, the people there are RUDE! No one was friendly or greeted you. Won’t return!

Stopped by today on a whim. As the reviewer below wrote it is somewhat chaotic and unorganized. We spent a little time wandering around before we found someone who explained to us that you need to catch the tractor which takes you to the orchard. On the tractor are bags which you fill up. The apples are $ 2.50/lb and only certain ones are available. We did try/eat some apples in the fields. Other people were doing it as well and no one was really monitoring us or if they were no one said anything. The trees up front were pretty well picked. The trees further back had a little more fruit on them. Upon returning back from the orchard we went to pay for the apples and the lady kept insisting we had a bag full of honey crisp apples. We repeated 2 or 3 times that we had honey gold and there weren’t any honey crisps out there and she looked at the apples and said no these don’t look like honey golds they’re honey crisp. a) no where in the orchard did we find a sign that said honey crisp. b) the sign said all apples were $ 2.50 so I don’t understand why she was giving us such a hard time.
