This dog«park» is a joke. There is no water source for dogs, never any refuse bags, poisonous mushrooms growing rampant and worst of all there is sharp metal that sticks out from under the ground from whatever was there before in the large dog area.

Yeah… I left my normal weekend dog walking route to try a new dog park. My dog park in Setauket is a very social spot. For twenty plus years, I’ve met neighbors with new puppies as well owners who have beautiful rescue dogs and a special story to tell. I just rescued a beautiful older American Cocker Spaniel so I have lotsa stories! Isaac Dog Park? I appreciate the fenced in areas for both large and small dogs. The run itself is kinda sparse. Grass patches in some spots, but there is no real place for the dogs to run. As a matter of fact, at 9am there was no one here. We stayed for at least 45 minutes, no dogs, no owners, no social interaction with both humans and doggies. If you live in this area then add a star. I won’t make the extra trip again.

One of one of the better runs on eastern Long Island. Things it has going for it: — Separate large & small dog runs — Plenty of shade — Adequate seating for humans — Plenty of parking — Picnic benches — Poop bags provided — Great gates, entry area and fencing in most areas Things it has against it: — No bathrooms near run for humans — No water available in either run — Dirt ground cover — Some areas of fencing leave too much space between bottom of fence and ground, dogs can squeeze out. This patriotic themed run isn’t bad. Its big and dogs have room to really run, bring water in, fix fencing and installing some more seating would make this run a solid 4 star run in my opinion. Upgrade the ground cover and this is a possible 5 star run. Would go to again. Dog runs/parks I have been to so far:

Isaac Dog Park is a fantastic public dog park for Town of Riverhead residents and their pooches. The sign is BARELY noticeable from the road. It is located on a parcel of the old Grumman property right off of Rt 25 in Wading River across from Calverton National Cemetery property. There is a huge parking lot and the dog park is set back about 0.25 miles from the parking area(kinda inconvenient). There are two large dog runs, one for small dogs less than 25 lbs and one for larger dogs. The regulars are friendly and pretty laid back. Like all dog parks, there are a few idiots who bring their dogs too. One guy brought his small children about five-six years old who were throwing a football back and forth INSIDE the dog run. Needless to say, the dogs kept stealing the football and not wanting to give it back. Do I need to say it? Don’t bring your kids inside if you don’t want them getting bumped or even knocked down by exuberant dogs. Probably best to leave kids ten and under at home or keep them outside of the dog run. There are no water spigots, so remember to bring water. There are port-o-johns but I’ve never been inside so use at your own risk.
