Poke Hale Grindz

I was told about this place over a year ago and never tried it. I always enjoyed Sack N Saves Pole bar but this nice gentleman told me about this place and I never took him up on it. It was about time I go and tried it out. I live right around the block from it. Thanks for this article, I finally give it a try and it was well worth the wait. The poke dish was beyond good. It was like mini explosion every bite I took. They definitely have a customer for life. Will definitely be always coming back there.

This place was pretty incredible. You can custom order your poke with the ingredients you want and the ahi was very fresh. I had a combination of avocado, onions, wasabi, shoyu, sesame oil and furikake. We also had their korean chicken and that was great also. Crunchy on the outside, perfectly cooked, and very flavorful. I will go back again on my next visit to Maui.

Really good poke, the place is off the beaten path a little and you could easily drive by and not notice it. When you go inside it’s kind of a strange little convenience store type place with random stuff. But back to the poke, get some.

Always love coming here. Great food, great staff, and a great owner! Always AH-​MAZING specials! Got the potato chip one today and it was BOMB! I love to just go in on a whim and get all kine goodies to snack on. Shave ice is me and my family’s favorite and it’s HUGE!!! BONUS!

Shave ice yummmmmmmzz. Mango and fruit punch. My husband bought the poke, he loved it and said it was super fresh. Excellent customer service. Nice way to end our last day in Maui.

Poke Hale Grindz uses the freshest fish in their Poke and it shows upon every bite! I would highly reccomend adding Furikake to put the flavor over the top! If you don’t know, now you know! Poke Hale Grindz has the best Poke on the island hands down!!! I am not going to lie, I ate 1.5lbs of poke on my second trip there !!! its that good!

Although this place only has a few reviews it is a must try!!! The lady behind the counter wasn’t kidding when she said this is the best poke you will ever try. So delicious and fresh, we could see the person through the poke window butchering all the fresh fish. Although we picked the #8, you can choose your own ingredients for the poke if you want… such a great idea! We will be back!

Awesome find! Small shop with some local stuff. Go to the window in the back and fill out your made-​to-​order poke card. Great selection of ingredients and super fresh fish. My favorite poke on the island!

This place is absolutely amazing! It’s so un-​assuming when you walk in, it just looks like your typical local convenient store with an odd assortment of local goods and basic necessities (they had Market Pantry vegetable oil on one of the shelves alongside soy sauce and spam).
There’s a window in the back right corner. GO TO THERE! It’s the window of greatness! In front of it: a pile of order cards and some pencils. Behind it: a little old Hawaiian lady with some of the best poke (poe-​key) in town! This place is awesome cause you can totally customize your order! (See photo) I came in with a mission and knew what I wanted, which is apparently a popular choice as the attendant (who was SO sweet and friendly!) asked if I was a local. I’m from Tennessee ya’ll, about as far from local as it gets! BUT I am a foodie.
Anyways, there’s a half pound minimum order, which is a TON of fish, and it’s crazy affordable! I don’t know if it was cash only or if they accept cards, we just paid with cash out of courtesy (so they could avoid the card company charges).
There’s no where to sit there, so we drove to a nearby fishing/​public beach spot and just parked the car to eat. Can’t complain about any of the views in Maui, so it was a nice faux pic-​nic.

When my husband and I travel, we like to try out the spots that locals favor. Poke Hale Grindz is located in a small mini-​mart in Wailuku, off the beaten path from the Maui resorts. When we first walked in, the only poke we saw was pre-​packaged and sitting in a refrigerator case. We were disappointed and about to leave, but luckily the lovely woman at the counter pointed us to the small window where you can order custom poke. As others have noted, you can customize your poke from a list of ingredients; the folks who operate the place are very helpful if you need suggestions or have questions. It’s a real find — excellent poke, wonderful customer service. They could probably do ten times the business with better signage and a picnic table or two, but once you get the hang of it, you’ll want it to stay exactly like it is.

So glad I stopped by this place on the way to the airport to get some Poke mixed up. Great selections.

What a great find! We were in search of some good poke, fired up Unilocal and this place pops up. We had the Aku poke, made fresh right when you order. Lots of great sauces and ingredients to choose from. And the ladies at the counter were beyond helpful and fun to chat with while we waited. And secret tip: there is a picnic bench just down the side road that ends at the ocean where you can eat your poke by the sea.

I found this place on Unilocal and we just happened to drive right by it the next day. So I had to make a u-​turn and stop by. I am a huge fan of poke. And the very awesome ladies here were eager to help. You get to create the type of poke you like from a list of many options. I was a little overwhelmed with the choices of ingredient and decided to let the «experts» decide for me. I wasn’t disappointed. it was a just what I was expecting. They women were also very pleased to assist a in things to go see and do.

First time I been here and I remember this location as Tom’s Mini Mart. Worker Nani was extremely nice and helpful. I was on my way to work and didn’t pack breakfast or lunch. Since I work close by I figure stop and try ii out. Love the brilliant idea of order your own poke, they have a small slip with the different ingredients listed and the customer just check off what they want on the poke and its made fresh right in front of you. Also the Sweet taro and coconut milk food they have have in the refrigerator is Ssoooooo ONO! Must try.

I was dubious at first since it had only one review. But I was wrong to doubt this place. Poke was amazing because I got to choose my ingredients! ! The fish was very fresh and it was perfect because I created it. It look like a regular deli but there is a poke window. have fun eating it guys.

The quality of grinds coming out of this place is unreal. Try anything on the menu and you’ll be satisfied. They also make custom poke. This place was completely remodeled and has a nice clean kitchen with motivated people committed to quality grinds and service. They have shave ice too!
